Gabby Giffords's Husband Buys AR-15

http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2013/03/09/Gabby-Gif...

Mark E. Kelly, gun-control proponent and husband to former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, recently purchased an AR-15 (an "assault weapon," he called it)—which he now says he intended as an illustration of the need for more stringent gun laws.

Kelly reportedly bought the AR-15 and a 1911-style semi-automatic pistol at a gun store in Tucson, Arizona.

Breitbart News received a tip on this when Neil McCabe, editor of Guns & Patriots newsletter, contacted us on March 7 and said:

Mark E. Kelly, made purchases which included an AR-15--sometimes described as an "assault rifle"--at 3:30 pm on the afternoon of March 5 at Diamondback Police Supply, 170 S. Kolb Street, Tucson, AZ.

According to McCabe, witnesses to the purchases claimed Kelly purchased "high capacity" magazines as well.

Oxygen,or,the lack of it.

This is no more than an ongoing study by "NASA" of Astronauts,,to determine the results that a Lack Of Oxygen has on the Human Brain....no good! obviously.

Is he a criminal?

Then the system worked they legally sold him a gun and it was a fair transaction.

Gabby Giffords needs to get on with her life and so does he.

i call him out

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qA2zwsskqrU hes a hypocrite

Albert Camus — 'The only way to deal with an unfree world is to become so absolutely free that your very existence is an act of rebellion.'

What's his complaint exactly?

And what's his beef with modern sporting rifles and 30-round magazines? His wife was tragically shot by a liberal whackjob bearing a handgun.

Kelly still can't pick it up because of the waiting period designed to prevent impulsive violence. How long is a background check supposed to take--what's wrong with "minutes"?

Everything worked the way it's supposed to work. There *is* federal gun control in Arizona and the rest of the US and it appears to be functioning as intended.

I truly cannot figure out this guy's beef.

Well, I'm just pretending to be confused--anti-gun crackpots are, well, crackpots. A friend of mine expressed concern that somebody is making whole AK-47s with a Makerbot. So I queried further, how do you make a gun barrel out of hot glue, exactly? OK, not a whole rifle, just the lower something or other. Seems it would be cheaper just to buy one? Well, they're doing it in case the guns are banned. Oh really, millions of modern sporting rifles are going to be banned? And people with Makerbot toys are going to make one part of the newly banned gun out of hot glue? And you perceive this to be worrisome?

I'm aware that somebody shot 600 rounds through an AR-15 having a 3D printed lower receiver. Not a Kalashnikov, not a Makerbot, and not a practical alternative to just buying conventional receivers through the black market if you really needed one and they were all suddenly outlawed.

Take back the GOP and Restore America Now.

Why the fuss about 3d printing?

I'm a mechanical engineer. With an engine lathe and a couple days, I could make a PPS-43. It's MUCH easier to make something full auto, open bolt than semi-auto closed bolt.

The 3d printer isn't a game changer, it does what is perfectly possible with a lathe, milling machine and hand tools. Since you can't use tool steel with a 3d printer yet, the results will be inferior anyway.

It's not teribly difficult to figure him out

He has fallen under the spell of relevance that the MSM has woven about he and his wife and has found a pulpit upon which to expound on his new found fame. His career as an Astronaut was nearing an end and this allows him time to promote his self. Fully expect a Senatorial run from him shortly to which he will more than likely succeed with over the bones of the Second Amendment. How preposterous a story he threw out that he was going to give the weapon to the police but it will be swallowed, hook, line and sinker.

If not us than who?

Your friend

makes no sense, criminals are going to have guns whether they are legal or not, and most likely not 3d printed which is far more expensive than manufactured parts. Lemme know when they start 3D printing nuclear weapons then I might be concerned.

Makes me proud to live in

Makes me proud to live in Tucson. I saw two guys open carrying the other day. Nobody got shot. We have some of the best gun laws in the country here. I may go buy a gun from the same place as Mr. Kelly to encourage the business.

...which he now says

he intended as an illustration of the need for more stringent gun laws.

Was he trying to show that it's easy to buy guns? But it's supposed to be easy to buy guns because it is a perfectly legal thing to do.

What kind of twisted, manipuative logic is this?

Can you say; Hypocrite?

Nothing to see here, just move along. Another 'leader' that wants us to do as they say, not as they do.

Thanks for posting.

Well, now, isn't that just sweet...

What an idiot he is! And, to think he was a NASA astronaut. Brother...

Do as I say

not as I do.

My firearms are for illustration purposes as well

So someone with a clean

So someone with a clean record legally purchases firearms?

Sun came up this morning. Sky is blue. Water is wet.

If a whack job like me can buy one...

"which he now says he intended as an illustration of the need for more stringent gun laws"

His point? Liberals shouldn't own guns :)

*delete*

double post, sry

"which he now says he

"which he now says he intended as an illustration of the need for more stringent gun laws"

For owning something, because last time i checked, owning something is still not a crime.

We have a literal problem here, we are talking of crimes commited, and they are talking about potential crime........yes, it can be awfull if that potential turns reality, and im not unkind, i see what they say, but i also see what they refuse to acknowledge, the forcing of that will, those who wish to volunter, thats their decision to make, but nothing short of volunteering would work, and an understanding that it would be for future generations to benefit.......and i dont see that starting until governments trust the people enough to disarm first, a LOOOONG way to go methinks

So

he bought a defense weapon?

Seen that movie?

Anyone ever see that movie, Chocolat?

I don't get it

So he had a background check that came back OK I guess and he legally purchased a gun? Is he saying background checks can't detect liberal socialist gun-grabbing agendas? Or is he trying to say "Hey look, I'm a scum-bag but yet they still sold me a gun"? This would make some sense to me.

You don't get whats going on!

The thing that is oblivious to some of my friends that live in SF and Mexico is the Rich and Elite all like gun control because the rich don't have gun control they all carry, like the congress woman that's against guns she always had a concealed carry but was big on making everyone else in San Fran, disarmed.

He bought it because he is now part of the elite.

Gun control isn't to stop the crooks its to stop the people if someone checks out who is really stealing. a VERY RICH husband or banker come to mind.

Same thing in Mexico the rich all have Guards and Guns the good honest masses don't.
So who loses.. the poor and honest average guys.

By the way just like the USA 85 to 95% of the people wouldn't ever shoot except in self defense, most people respect life to much to go preemptive.

And if you didn't have gun control already take 3 to 4 ar15 armed citizens, and put them up against one solder with a 16 full auto, equipped with a few drum mags the odd swing way over to him and a helicopter who you going to bet your life on the 2 or the 4?

Just want what seems to be missing, Truth and Justice for ALL
What is fraud except creating “value” from nothing and passing it off as something?

Oh,

I get it all to well why they want to disarm us. What I don't get is why this moron thought that by going into a gun store and getting a background check before purchasing a gun he would somehow shock or convince people we need tougher gun laws??? I mean I could understand if he was wanted for crimes and was still able to buy a gun, that might shock some people. I think he would do more for gun control if he took those guns and pointed them at the cops and let them shoot him down. At least then he would get some news headlines like "Man Threatens Police with AR15 Gets Filled with 5 lbs. of Lead"

The bold effort the present bank had made to control the government ... are but premonitions of the fate that await the American people should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution or the establishment of another like it-Andrew Jackson

Gabby Giffords’ Husband, Mark Kelly, Testifies Against AR-15s — Then Goes Out and Buys One

Posted on March 10, 2013 by Nick Leghorn

Over the last few weeks, we’ve seen Gabby Giffords and her husband Mark Kelly using the emotion that comes from her 2011 shooting in Tuscon, Arizona to demand “something needs to be done” to stop “gun violence,” and that something (according to Mark Kelly) is the ban of “assault weapons.” He has testified to that effect before the U.S. Senate, as well as in Colorado. However, it appears that Mark Kelly is another shining example of the belief of the civilian disarmament folks that the same logic they use to try and disarm the general population doesn’t apply to themselves. Breitbart has the story . . .

It links to the same Breitbart article you cited (well TheTruthAboutGuns.com and TheGunWire.com is where I first saw this today), but has apt commentary.

He underwent a background check,

when he purchased it? What point is he trying to make? He also purchased a handgun, but made out the AR to be bad, when it was a handgun used against Gabby.

Nah, this looks to me to be more of a ploy for a future political run..

If it's ONLY for demonstration purposes

he should have it rendered inoperable.

He was just trying to prove

how easy it is to obtain one of those big, scary killing machines.

gun control is for common folk
