Paul campaign needs to do infomercial

0 votes

My sister and brother in law, after I hounded them into going, went to the Charleston event this last Friday to see Dr. Paul. She told me she was floored by Ron Paul's speaking. In brief, she was able to hear his position on several points of policy articulated in a way that she has never seen on TV. The point is they both voted for him in SC the next day as a result. I look at the result like this: I've told many people about Ron Paul and his positions, but only Ron Paul can deliver the message best. TV ads are ok, but one thing I've noticed, is when people hear and meet the man in person most of them decide to join our cause. They hunger for the message of liberty and freedom, but TV ads, sound bites, and small responses during debates hardly convey what the message is to a large audience. The campaign has the money to do this and even if the infomercial was run at odd hours, people will see it and the word will spread.

Infomercials

are very expensive especially if one wants them aired on primetime stations , guess who owns them?
The local independent newspaper will first welcome the ad revenue because it relies on that type of revenue then it will have a paperboy of sorts slam it against the front door of anybody that still reads it to keep informed outside primetime or structured schedule and guess what else? If somebody misses reading it on the day it
comes out copies float around for weeks thereafter.
Snowbird in Florida don`t sit and watch youtube very much either , they do sit and read the community paper while they suck down a lemonade or two .
the small radio unaffiliated radio station is also a great outlet.
Infomercials are great but to hold an audience captive one that prefers RON POPEIL stuff instead may not be as good a strategy over the less expensive but more available newspaper article. I strongly believe this and have witnessed it work far better especially when the sale pitch is about an ideal intead of a blender or a set of knives.
Politics is boring to most people that is why only one third of the people votes. A well placed article that captures in a paragraph or two the essence of Ron Pauls message may be more to the mark.

This of course is a suggestion of mine and only that.

Recruiting votes for Ron.

Infomercial airtime

If the infomercial recording could be made available to the grassroots effort I'll bet that it could get some airtime. The late night hours are relatively cheap to run a 30 minute or 1 hour spot on cable and satellite providers channels.

I suggested this as an option a couple of months ago but got no response.

Check it out.

An infomercial has been produced...

...maybe. I haven't read that it actually happened, but supposedly it aired in Iowa. The total cost for production and air time, for this "small" market was $10M. Maybe someone from Iowa can confirm this report. If true, RP does NOT have the funding to do this again, much less for a national airing.

Here's the link.

To effectively run this kind of campaign a candidate needs a minimum of $100M in funding.

I agree, though, that I too wish it could be done. It WOULD be productive.

Did it run in Iowa?

I don't think they have spent $10M in Iowa on the entire campaign, let alone on a single infomercial. Perhaps the campaign created it but never ran it. Do you have any news story or other confirmation that it ran, what time and what audience?

In any case, the material is Ok, although not as inspiring as lots of material on YouTube (no background music, no songs made for Ron Paul revolution, absent variety of American scenery and faces,...) and not as crisp and coherent as Ross Perot's infomercials. A person watching for the first time will see lots of bits and pieces without getting a coherent picture.

Yes, we need infomercial

Yes, agree. They could have a test run of such infomercial in Florida.

There are lots of older folks or folks who are not internet savvy in Florida. Even some of my business partners in Florida, who spend god deal of time on internet and who are Republicans don't know anything about him (they are mostly Romney supporters).

Most of the people outside of our social networks don't know anything about Ron Paul other then the twisted image media has fabriacted.

To reach these people campaign and/or grassroots organizations need to run infomercials, 15-30 minute programs in prime time. Two types of programs would be needed:

a) Ron Paul talking with charts, explaining his view of our present situation and his approach to dealing with it. This is how Ross Perot broke through the media blackout in 1992 and nearly won (had he not left the race mid-way through; he was also much too shallow compared to Ron Paul).

b) Supporter sponsored infomercial, listing Dr Paul's positions, record and testimonials. Important aspect is to show diversity and enthusism of the support behind him. There are many good YouTube videos which cover this material.

The program of type (a) needs to be done by the campaign. The program of type (b) can be done by a grassroots organization. The test run would cover only Florida, hence it could be paid with the money they have or the money we can collect within this time window. The infomercials can be posted ahead of FL airing on You Tube and honed through the critique and further ideas from the grassroots.

Should campaign HQ fail to see the need (their commercials so far were quite ineffective), the fallback could a quickly organized YouTube video selection for TV audience, which could be 30 minute documentary made of existent YouTube videos with a brief editorial glue in between.

bump.. we need this ala Perot

Get out the charts and graphs...let's show people how we are in a world of hurt unless we change today.

It should come from Ron Paul lecture style ...with a professional narration perhaps interview inter-spliced also some of the better debate moments thrown in there.

20 minutes national television. If the campaign doesn't have the money then they can tell us how much we need and we can raise it blimpstyle.
(yes, that is a new word.)

brought it up

on a post over a couple of weeks ago .Too many supporters are spending time on other issues they feel to be more important .As well the local newspaper is a good way to backdoor mainstream media but no one is listening pal.
I have not been able to have my comments posted on Mike`s main post ..perhaps i have been permanently flagged ... who knows.

infomercials

I too, thinks it's a great idea. Many times there is nothing on the TV and run through the stations. Dr Paul would catch my attention. I think it would others also. GREAT idea.

been

saying that all along.....the floodgates of supporters would open if the message could be spread....infomercial would be the medium we need considering the MSM is doing everything they can to stop it

..me too, main..they can

..me too, main..they can have veterans speaking, lots of testimonials from dignitaries like Barry Jr., and continually flash =donate today, and the website on the bottom of the screen. Bet it wouldn't cost them a dime when all was said and done, but they would need to take the time to get some1 to put it together..
