NYTimes' Ross Douthat :Rand Paul gets credit for speaking the language of the baseSubmitted by JO4RP on Mon, 03/11/2013 - 14:47
Love him or hate him, Kentucky’s junior senator is red hot in the media right now.
Whether it’s filibustering the Obama Administration’s nominee for Central Intelligence Agency director or advocating drug legalization, Sen. Rand Paul is not shy about taking a position, which of course guarantees him 24-hour media coverage.
Insider Louisville has even considered doing a daily “What’s Rand up to now?” post, aggregating what the national media are saying at any give time about him and, by extension, the state he represents.
Paul is turning out to be not just a polarizing figure among Republicans – and among conservatives in general – but a confounding enigma for liberals.
