Ron Paul Needs to Visit Alaska: Here's Why
Submitted by Nick Michelewicz on Sun, 01/20/2008 - 14:08
The only reputable poll of Alaska's voters which has been conducted had Dr. Paul in First place. We aren't polling in the number one slot anywhere else.
I seems like a big investment for a delegate poor state, but just a one day visit is sure to secure a lot of votes. How many other candidates would bother with Alaska? Probably none.
So we have a state where Dr. Paul has been polled in first place, and a state where a single visit would be a big deal. I'm sure the media outlets there would pick up on it like crazy.
I want Ron Paul to win at least one state. I think our best shot now is the mountain west and Alaska.
Am I crazy?

Agreed
yeah if Paul could make some quick stops in the Dakotas, Montana, Washington, then hit Alaska, beofre a trip down to California, that would be sweet!
I agree - Alaska and Maine!
Both of these states are ignored and both are anti-government gun-lovers.
He MUST go to Maine because it is the last caucus (Feb1-3) before Feb. 5th. He can't get first in the other Super Tuesday states, so he should go from Maine to Alaska.
Besides, he wouldn't have to re-pack - Maine has over 6 feet of snow!
He can start in Portland ME, go to Bangor, and then up to Presqe Isle and hop on a plane to Montreal, fly to Vancouver and transfer to a flight that goes to Alaska!

I'd have my wife make him a beaver hat!
Hello meetup brother! Steve from Nenana. He has so much in common with our governor that the comparison would do him well as she has a 70 percent approaval rating. Last I heard anyway.

Hi Steve...
I hope RP gets a beaver hat.

We live in Fairbanks, AK
We just had a meetup tonight where we discussed this very thing. Our caucus is Feb. 5th. It is agreed that if Ron Paul were to make even a brief trip here, he would seal his win in Alaska. Like it has been pointed out, we have 27 delegates to send to the National convention. I think it would be worth the trip!

It will never happen
the best your gonna get is a satellite feed from Dr. Paul it would take a week to campaign just one day in Alaska or Hawaii cost a fortune to travel there someone should set up a rally with a satellite feed

While I am not sure it would be most the efficient to travel to Alaska I have to disagree with you. How would it take a week to campaign for a day, and would it really cost that much? Alaska is just a plane flight away, its not on another planet.
I can almost guarantee a win here.
One or two day visit here will make a big win!

I also would really like to
I also would really like to see RP make a stop up there, would be awesome if he came in first place there.
There's a libertarian streak there.
When Libertarian Dick Randolf ran for governor there he got 16%, outstanding for a Libertarian. Surveys revealed twice that percentage favored him but voters were afraid he couldn't win :-)

When is the Alaskan primary?
In addition to the delegates, it could be worth it for promotion purposes if it's prior to Tsunami Tuesday... Besides, there probably aren't many Mormons there. LOL!
Alaska = Feb.5
According to this article

discusses various date changes for primaries - but it is from last May so it may not be most current

There are 28 delegates for AK, its probably worth it.
Agreed.
It would appear that Dr. Paul will do well in Alaska, Montana, Washington and California. I don't know anything about Oregon. It would be a good idea for Dr. Paul to spend some time in Maine. The only downside to him going to Alaska is the time it would take out of his schedule, but I agree with you, a win is a win. It is the boost to morale that would be a very positive influence. Good luck and thanks for all the hard work.
Not a bad idea,
but when is your primary?
Feb 5th

Far to travel alaska is.
Far to travel alaska is. Gravel should give up and endorse RP and then go home and do some stumpin'.

Great Interest for Paul in AK
I talked with a friend who lives at North Pole recently. He says that in North Pole and in Fairbanks there are Ron Paul signs all over the place. He says in all this time he has seen only one other thing: a single bumper sticker for Thompson. A trip to AK might help cement a win.

Sorry but I just couldn't help it!
