$2 billion a week for occupying Afghanistan

Obama is closing offices in the capital building.. who knew? What's that about?

raising age and giving the wealth a cut in benefits to fix SS? Seems unfair to the younger boomers who are not in retirement for the next decade, and those who earned more.. why should they be cut, why can't their cuts be their choice?

What amazes me...

Americans don't protest sending 250 million to Egypt, along with the 2 billion we send Egypt (the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Qaeda), 60 million to the Syrian "rebels" (the Muslim Brotherhood and Al-Qaeda) along with arms, billions in foreign aid to other countries, yet these politicians (Rand included) think cutting Social Security benefits (which all Americans have paid into, some all their working lives) is a viable option. The government robbed us of our savings and now we have to pay it again.

Here's a viable option: Cut all foreign aid, stop spending trillions on needless wars. Make a lump sum payment to all people who have paid into social security and medicare, and be done with it. The Federal Reserve pumps out 85 billion a month. Give 338 million Americans, 1 million dollars, no more welfare, no more Obama phones. It's far less expensive than printing 1.5 trillion a year to fund a ballooning federal government which has racked up 17 trillion in debt (that we know about). It's way past time we take care of Americans and America first.

A return to sound money would be the optimal solution, but with the crew we have in Washington, seems this solution is a long way off.

Sometimes the simplest solutions

stare you right in the face.

Kudos for a great post :-)

"What if the American people learn the truth" - Ron Paul

SteveMT's picture

Finally words that are music to my ears: Bring the troops home!

My only criticism of the interview is that not only here, but repeatedly with other interviews, no on will utter the name of RON PAUL. "Your father" and "he," is always used as if the name Ron Paul was something negative to say. Stay tuned. Perhaps someone will not be afraid to say the words 'Ron Paul' on the air.
Thanks for posting.

Where are the Rand critics?

I'm sure they will find something wrong with the video. "Rand is a liar. If he's so against war, why doesn't he physically fly a 747 and bring all the troops home."

here is something wrong with the video

Saving Social Security by reducing the benefits? That's basically a tax raise!

“With laws shall our land be built up, but with lawlessness laid waste.”

Go Rand Go!

If I had a dollar for every time I said that....

Rand 2016!!!

.

This was not Romney's

This was not Romney's platform. Why does he espouse Ron Paul's platform now?

He doesn't

He doesn't want to get pigeon-holed like Ron. If he can't learn from Ron's experience, then what? We can complain about him, or do better ourselves and compete with Rand. It's really that simple.

he always has haven't you been paying attention

I don't mean that in a snarky way. I haven't seen Rand waver at all. I know he backed Romney but that was very lukewarm and he only did so to fulfill a promise he was backed into by the GOP when he was running for the senate.

Rand hasn't changed his stance but after the Romney endorsement many people just shut their eyes and ears to him because they were so angry. But that doesn't mean they really understood him or why he did it. They just assumed the worst and were hell bent to keep doing so

Ron stands with Rand and so do I

Yes I have and sorry to

Yes I have and sorry to disagree but Rand's platform on foreign policy was very much a full all out endorsement of Israel and her needs. Contrary to Ron Paul's non-interventionist mantra...I now see and hear Rand Paul protest drone authority in US against US citizens. I don't hear a non-interventionist platform over the middle east > Africa war drums WH is banging out. As much as I applaud the senator's efforts to bring attention to the US drone threat....I really don't know where Rand stands politically for a continued period of time backed by a voting record when it comes to his stance on foreign policy.

How far we've come

"He only did so to fulfill a promise he was backed into by the GOP when he was running for the senate."

How is this acceptable? How is being 'backed into' a party promise now viewed as a legitimate excuse for an elected legislator's behavior on any issue?

A politician's submission to party strong-arming has always been considered abhorrent to liberty lovers here on the DP. That is, until Rand did it.

All due respect to him for the filibuster - but it certainly shouldn't earn him an all-day pass on other positions he's taken.

Rand was brilliant.

Rand was brilliant.

What I have learned...

From my experience volunteering my time to Ron..

Is to get in early and bust your ass. I believe we can trust Rand. He is not going to do every single thing that we want.. but it is painfully obvious that he wants to move the conversation to issues that win us over.

I absolutely #StandWithRand

Lest you forget.. Ron is one of the smartest men I have ever seen. Do not think for a moment his influence on his son is not there. Doctors are always critical thinkers. I have some in my family.. They may be kinda boring, but debate with them and see how fast solutions to problems are solved.

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

".. wants to move the

".. wants to move the conversation to issues that win us over" He doesn't have to manipulate us to do that., Were he genuine and his motives transparently admirable...DPers will automatically follow him. There is obvious a gap here in trust and loyalty. I see him as a man capable of betraying his own father at the 11th hour..

The Grand Strategy

It appears as if Rand has catered to the old right first, now he attempts to merge with the old right and the libertarians.
His strategy is beginning to look like Reagans, win the base then expand it to include others.
Cant see the media going along with this, but so far he is dividing the GOP while marginalizing McCain and Graham.
Looks as if Jeb Bush will be his opponent....irony in that one.

Well if you are right, and Rand is playing a simular hand of the

Regan era, then lets hope the GOP doesn't try to shove Jeb down our throats as VP assuming Rand catches fire and runs away with the primaries.

I think the Neo-Cons

Are going to put up many potential candidates over the next two years to try and find someone to be Rand's opponent in 2016.

You will see the same chumps who ran in 2012 to try to siphon off Ron Paul's support.

Expect Bachmann for sure, and a couple of other Neo-Con puppets like her.

Rand would beat Jeb Bush easily one on one, so the Neo-Cons will have some tricks again. Expect them to play dirty again.

Rand will keep getting hammered by John McCain and Lindsay Graham for the next 3 years unless we do something about it. If you support Rand, you gotta help take these two out.

Best way to do that: talk to everyone you know about them, especially from their home states. Expose them for what they are. Write letters to the editor in their home states. Even in their home towns.

Don't use disrespectful language though. Just explain why they are wrong, out of touch and have to go.

When was the last time we had six days

of press coverage by the print and tv media? Rand's fillibuster cracked open the media's door and put a little chink in the old guard's armor.

Like....NEVER!

Proof this filibuster thing was a wonderfully effective!

Thanks for posting!

I'm liking what I'm seeing.

Excellent interview.

The message is similar to Ron's but a little more "spoon fed" for the masses:)

Rand is on the roll.

Looks like he is making a breakthrough. Center-left Americans are shy to admit this openly but they too understand that printing paper money cannot last for ever. Rand can be attractive enough for them to lend their ear to his message. Sound logic should gradually take over.

This wouldn't

be an issue if our guys and gals were at home where they belong.

The bold effort the present bank had made to control the government ... are but premonitions of the fate that await the American people should they be deluded into a perpetuation of this institution or the establishment of another like it-Andrew Jackson

He did really well in

He did really well in answering that last question about what he learned from RPs campaign. Rand does a great job of fielding questions - he really thinks on his toes.

Indeed well spoken logical

Indeed well spoken logical but careful not to go to far for the conservatives...

Rand Paul: Time To Bring Troops Home, Cut Foreign Aid, And Fix Entitlements - CNN 3/11/2013

Appearing on CNN's Situation Room this afternoon, Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) urged that the United States bring its troops home from a costly war in Afghanistan, cut foreign aid especially to potentially hostile countries like Egypt, and take serious steps towards reforming entitlements and the tax code. He also said that, like his father Ron, he believes he can appeal to the youth vote and help make the GOP competitive in "blue and purple states."

*** Indeed, Dr. Paul the Elder's son! Okay, so except for the "fix" part; though as an interim step, Dr. Ronald Ernest Paul would definitely agree with Rand's proposals, as he's stated time and time again to "shore up those made dependent, in the transition period..."
