Sen. Ted Cruz: "I Will Use 'Any Procedural Means Necessary' To Force Vote on Defunding Obamacare -AUDIO

Terrence P. Jeffrey | March 11, 2013 | CNSNews.com

When the U.S. Senate this week takes up the continuing resolution to fund the federal government for the remainder of fiscal year 2013, Sen. Ted Cruz (R.-Texas) will offer an amendment that will prohibit funding for the implementation of Obamacare during that period.

“I believe we will have a vote on this amendment and I have said I am willing to employ any procedural means necessary to ensure that we do get a vote on the amendment,” Cruz told reporters today.

Go Sen. Cruz!

This is what we need!

what kind of leverage does cruz have?

doesn't reid schedule all votes and thus control what is and is not voted on?

why wouldn't he just ignore it like like he did with the fed audit bill?

is there any reason to believe this isn't just grandstanding?

someone help me out here.

Cruz may be good on some

Cruz may be good on some issues, but he is a lover of ISrael, thus a lover of wars..

If you disagree with me on anything you are not a real libertarian...

One of the reasons I like Cruz

is because during the Hagel hearings McCain down-dressed him for the questions he asked. Anyone McCain dislikes, I tend to like more. Sounds to me like since Rand's fillibuster others are feeling emboldened to speak out and not worry if Boehner takes them off a committee.

Good point

McCain hated Cruz's Hagel questions...and the Stand with Rand.

It makes me feel good to know that despite the Hagel questioning, which was red meat for conservatives of the neo-con slant...it was deplored by the NeoCon in chief McCain.... strange dichotomy....

but the nearly 2 hours spent in the Stand with Rand seals all qualms with me. He isn't the "war monger" as some would like to paint him...he's much more of a deep Senator than such a simplistic term.

Ron Paul Endorsed Him

I Stand Corrected..

Wasn't Sure Cruz received an endorsement or not...

What's the skinny on him?

Someone asked me my opinion about him going to CPAC, and I couldn't give one, I have not paid any attention to him. He's getting my attention now - anybody know who funds him, runs him?

As a Texan

I can tell you Cruz loves interventionist wars, which is what made me question RPs endorsement of Cruz.

I also had issues

with Ron's endorsement. Mainly I have issues with ESQUIRES of the Queen serving in positions of public trust as public officials.

BAR Attorneys are "Esquires" of the crown corporation in London. Ask any attorney what their title is... some have their title right on their card because they are so ignorant of what it means.

It's probably due to the fact that it's treason and a violation of Article 1 section 10 clause 7 which bans titles of nobility from foreign governments being bestowed on public officials here.

I'm also a Texan..

who is worried about intervention...and I saw Ron, Rand and Ted in Austin last May when he endorsed him. There were many skeptical folks there, from old school birchers to end the fed ron paul republicans. But all loved the issues where he stood.

he also seems genuine. He's good on 95% of the issues...if the only 5% is the israel thing...we're better off with him than others.

I'm following him closely....

I posted this a while back:

"from National Review:

"On foreign policy, Cruz is less than sanguine about nation building: “I don’t think we should be engaged in long-term nation building. I think there are too many nations on earth to build up, and it’s not our military’s job.” When asked about Afghanistan and Iraq, Cruz is cautious. After a few munches on his sandwich, he says, “What I don’t think is acceptable is for us just to stay there in perpetuity and try to rebuild each nation into a perfect utopia. That’s not our job and not our role. I think we have an important role stopping and killing terrorists.”"

Also...a thread that was skeptical of Ted posted this:

"he fails to mention anything about the Empire and the Wars. If you can't see that War is the Health of the State, you really cannot be for "shrinking government" because you fail to see what grows it.

Now, Ted Cruz does come with some endorsements. Rand and Ron Paul, Sarah Palin....and he does really have the gift of talking good... He sounds off on obeying the Constitution, Small government, cutting spending.... He sounded great on Hannity, but not a word about defense cuts. I did not hear a word about legalizing freedom: ie ending the patriot act, NDAA, SOPA, CISPA, the Drug War.

So i don't know if we really have a clever Republican adopting the Ron Paul small govt rhetoric, without the foreign policy and bill of rights stuff.

He could be just another Mark Rubio failure all over again.

See here: http://www.tedcruz.org/endorsements/ "

we have seen him STAND for the Bill of Rights, and Show us that he is not what Rubio has been. It's still a toss up as to far down the rabbit hole he comes to our side on foreign policy..but it's a lot better position than a neocon.

thank you

That helps me know where to watch for the knife in the back. Hopefully he has "seen the light" but I'll keep my eyes open all the same.

Campaign financial backers

for Cruz included Ending Spending Action Fund started by Joe Ricketts of TD Ameritrade. He is 93 on Forbes top 100 list of wealthy people. Former dem turned repub turned independent. Ricketts also started Taxpayers Against Earmarks and the Anti-Incumbent campaign (to get rid of long term politicans regardless of party). Cruz also received funds from Club for Growth a pro-market group. They support Cruz's amendment to defund obamacare through the Continuing Resolution. Cruz is very new having won Kay Bailey Hutchinson's old seat. He is a Canadian citizen so he is not elegible to run for president.

Fishy, All I Can Tell You Is Ron Paul Likes Him...

He is very bright. I hope he is not being controlled. We will just have to be patient nad keep an eye or two on him..He seems to be saying all the right things for now..

Time will tell...I reserve judgement for now..

As Jean Luc Picard would say...

As Jean Luc Picard of Star Trek would say " Make it so, Senator Cruz"
