“People ask me, ‘How can you...not be friggin’ mad at God?' "

Where do you go when you want to tell someone something, or maybe you just want someone else to know? Alot of times the Daily Paul is one of those places for me. My sister's husband, a Pastor, is dying and there was a write-up in the Kansas City Star on Saturday. So I have attached the article below. There are also some pics and a video at the site.

My brother-in-law has an 11 year old daugher. He is the love of my sister's life. Their 2 sons are in college. Pharma couldn't do a thing for him, but he is Walking with God. Even when facing death one can experience peace and liberty!

God’s Next Assignment for Joey Butler: dying

Despite an operation that took his left kidney, numerous treatments and trips to the University of Kansas Cancer Center and to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, nothing worked. He has decided there will be no more treatments.

“It’s been a raging hand-to-hand combat internally with discouragement. Because you know your body is not the same. It can’t do things that you used to do...Look, I could have never orchestrated these last 14 months more perfectly with the amount of people I’ve been able to talk to,” he says. “People ask me, ‘How can you go through this heavy trial and not be friggin’ mad at God? Or scared out of your mind?’ ”

GOD has nothing to do with it

you create your own reality, what is this disease doing for you. why did you create it. take responsibility for your own actions. if you want to check out of this reality, man up, and acknowledge it. there is no shame, there are other things for you to do, move on. when you have completed your purpose, why hang around.

ducky

In respect to creating ones own reality

Hebrews 11:6 KJV
But without faith it is impossible to please him [God]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

So in that sense, faith brings God into one's reality. But then what if God has brought you into His reality? Can you escape it?

My brother-in-law will soon find out, and his bets are with God!

“This cancer,” he says, nodding his head, “has been a blessing.”

Wow bear, thank you for sharing. You are blessed to have this man in your life. What a positive spirit, and a positive attitude he has. What he is going through affects not only him, but everyone around him. And everything that happens in this life is for our learning and growth.

Death is not the end, of that I am certain.

In life we experience a multitude of little deaths. I'm currently in the midst of moving, due to unforeseen circumstances. I wish things weren't as they are, but when its time to go, it is time to go. It doesn't compare to the time when I will finally leave this earth, but it is a form of preparation: Of judging what is important, and what is not; of knowing what to take, and what to leave behind. In the final end, the only thing we get to take is our love.

But Joey Butler has impacted even me. I have seen your thread title floating around now for days, but have not clicked it until today. The stress of moving, packing, cleaning, etc. has been taking its toll. In the midst of it all I have forgotten what is true: Everything in life is a blessing.

My love to you bear as you go through this difficult period. One day, we all must face it. Joey is blazing a trail for those of us he has touched, showing how dying can and should be done: Not with fear and regret, but with love and gratitude.

Thank you bear for sharing. You've got me in tears.

For even as love crowns you so shall he crucify you. Even as he is for your growth so is he for your pruning.

To be mean is never excusable, but there is some merit in knowing that one is; the most irreparable of vices is to do evil out of stupidity. - C.B.

In life we experience a multitude of little deaths.

Yes, I find in those little deaths are the greatest time of my own personal growth as I turn to the Rock of my Salvation and find comfort and strength. Those are easy words to type and they clicked off in just a few seconds, however, those few seconds of typing represent hours and days of struggling to find hope in life in the midst of a lifetime's death.

Moving is hard. A lot of work. My hat's off to you Michael as you find life in this mini death. May new horizons open to you and may your new place be even better than can be imagined. As you are able to say say, "This move," nodding your head, "has been a blessing."

I think of this verse as I think of your words and the hard work you are doing in moving and I think of Joey's favorite symbol - the eagle:

Isaiah 40:31 KJV
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount upwith wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

Thank you for taking time in your day to wish my family well with such kind words and love. I return them to you and yours.

God gave mankind Liberty.

God gave mankind Liberty. Liberty to choose. Mankind made the choice to not follow Gods advice. Mankind is to blame for mankind's troubles. NOT GOD.

Blessed be the Name of the Lord

I understand we live in a fallen world and so we are subjected to all kinds of woes because sin entered the world. But also in my understanding there are many reasons for things that happen in a person’s life. I think the important thing is that we are able to say as Job did in chapter 13, vs. 15: Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

The Apostle Paul also give example of this and declares that it is when we are weak that He is strong:

2 Corinthians 12:7 And lest I should be exalted above measure through the abundance of the revelations, there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I should be exalted above measure. 8 For this thing I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me. 9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

Some things are hardships are endured for the pure glory of God so that He might perform a miracle:
John 9:1 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth. 2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? 3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.

Some things we never understand:
Exodus 4:11 KJV
And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?

Some things are to try our faith:
Job 2:3 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause.4 And Satan answered the LORD, and said , Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. 5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. 6 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life.7 So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown.

There are people who do not understand these things. Since my brother-in-law is a Pastor, many people reason, "well, look what serving God has gotten you...aren't you mad at God for letting you get cancer after all you have done for him."

You and I understand that God is not to blame, but people do blame God and God knows that. Blame is part of the process of grief. And there are those that spend a lifetime bitter against God because of the things that happen in their lives. So, my brother-in-law is able to give testimony and glory to God in his sickness.

Job 1:21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.

...

It's sad how you go around telling everyone they are wrong

is that REALLY what god would want you to do with the liberty he lent you??

I'm sure even YOUR version of god preaches at least a little bit of love!!

-I would try tapping into some of that love...god is watching you!

Thanks for sharing this Bear

Your Brothers story moved me to tears and touched my heart on many levels. I stopped by your post a couple of times before, but it wasn't till a little while ago that I found the time to read the article in the Star.

WOW. Your family is so blessed to have such a devoted man of God in your midst, a genuine disciple of Christ and lover of the souls of men.

I perceive in my spirit that you have already forgiven each and every one of those who saw this trying time for your family as nothing more than an opportunity, not to comfort or encourage, but rather to belittle and berate your faith. This present world grows darker by the hour, but the light of Christ shines brighter still.

In spite of the many thoughtless comments, I have no doubt that God has used your post to touch many hearts, and perhaps change a few lives. Thanks again for sharing.

...the path of the righteous is as a shining light, Going and brightening till the day is established. Proverbs 4:18 YLT

πολλα γαρ πταιομεν απαντες ει τις εν λογω ου πταιει ουτος τελειος ανηρ δυνατος χαλιναγωγησαι και ολον το σωμα

Thank you Archie Mudd for taking time to read the article and

reporting back with encouraging words. I am so thankful that my sister and her family know The Lord and are leaning on Him. The Lord is a Strong Tower and He is their Shelter in this storm.

Proverbs 18:10 KJV
The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth into it, and is safe.

I have found in my personal life that it is in those storms that I experience the Lord in so many new ways. It is something precious even in the midst of the hardest time. Those are precious memories!

Your verse in Proverbs brought this one to mind:

Matthew 5:16 KJV
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

May God be glorified in all that we do.

Mark Twain

A small girl once asked Mark Twain why there is so much evil and suffering in the world. Twain kindly explained, "You see, dear, it's because the world was designed by God. And God is a malign thug."

- quoted from memory, something I read in Twain's Letters From the Earth, many years ago. The quotation may not be precise, but pretty close.

Cautionary note: the book recommended in my tagline has nothing to do with religion; it's about the superstition of Government's right to rule. I bring this up because I know Twain's quotation will offend some people, and I hope they will not avoid Larken Rose's book because of this coincidental connection.

Poor Mr. Twain

He must not have met God because he is talking about the god of this world.

Jesus said:
John 10:10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

2 Corinthians 4:3But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.

As it is written,

There is none righteous, no, not one.

Righty-o bear

I am sure you realize that my "no not one" Scripture was put here due to some "self-righteousness" showing up on this thread. Doesn't go to your post but some comments.

Aways happy to have comments even if they don't exactly fit

isn't that what sharing ideas is all about :)

I didn't think you were directing it at me, even though I am one of those "no not ones!" I had read your comment but it wasn't until I thought of that scripture that I replied. I thought you would enjoy the thought as much as I did. Our Savior is Grand! And His Word, it is a Lamp to my feet!

Im not mad at god for the

Im not mad at god for the same reason im not mad at Zues, Vishnu, Torm or Lathander.

They don't exist.

If they "did" exist I "would" be mad at them for not granting me any spells. Id love to be able to cast me some spells. Charm Person on my local congressman? Hell ya. Zone of Truth at a town hall? Oh ya.

Hey Magwan77,

I didn't reply right away because I did not have any words. But I thought alot about your comment and I want you to know about some Power that the Bible claims for itself:

Hebrews 4:12 KJV
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Those local congressman? Be sure of this, they are fully exposed to the eyes of God:

Hebrews 4:13 KJV
Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Here is someone who was casting spells: http://www.biblestudytools.com/kjv/acts/8-audio.html
I've attached the audio in case you would like to hear about it. He even wanted to buy the ability to fill people with the Holy Ghost!

Here is another story if you liked the last one. It is about a girl that had the power of divination: http://www.biblestudytools.com/kjv/acts/16-audio.html

Ya thats all fun stuff, but

Ya thats all fun stuff, but honestly, if im going to read fantasy, I prefer George RR Martin, Tolkien or Cornwall. The bible is such a slog. Ive read it (I admit I skimmed a lot) but its just a poorly thought out fantasy setting. No real game balance, not much variety, and the predestiny crap really puts a cap on my creativity. There's not really any good guys except Jesus, and they nail his ass to a cross.

Anyway, it seems like too many people take the bible waaaaay to seriously and start having a lot of trouble seperating real life from fantasy land. They start believing in weird stuff.

As far as well written, well thought out fantasy, the bible blows. I prefer Greek mythology any day.

:)

I take the Bible as the Word of God like this:

1 Thessalonians 2:13 KJV
For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.

and that affects my reality. My future is staked upon it. All of my eggs are in that basket of Jesus being nailed to the cross in place of me. If affects my brother-in-law's reality as well. He is dying and he knows it and he is at peace with it. I think that is a good place to be. His family is able to rest there as well. For that, I am thankful.

Glad to have talked with you :)

I'd be mad at god too! But I have a different understanding

Prayer *can* be useful but it's worthless unless you truly believe it.

If you haven't yet, please watch this video on the healing power within ourselves!!

http://www.dailypaul.com/276434/god-satan-and-karma-its-all-...

Wow!

That is a neat video! The Bible speaks much of the mind which is sometimes called the heart. Thing is, my brother in law had surgery. They removed his whole kidney, he still has untreatable cancer. I had cancer. They removed my ovaries, I don't have cancer. I didn't believe one way or the other. I rested in the knowledge that God knew all about it and that He would see me thru, whatever course my life would take.

People can walk on coals and glass and such without pain. The mind definitely has power over our bodies!

Does the mind exercise faith:

Faith is the substance of things hoped for. The evidence of things unseen. Hebrews 11:1

Jesus talked about it:
Matt 17:20 And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

My brother in law has faith that God has deemed him worthy to serve him thru death. A course none of us would most likely choose.

It is their faith that says the best thing that happened to them last year was his cancer. They have never been closer as a family. People can live a lifetime with out the experience of that kind of closeness. Perhaps this is the only way it would come.

Did you get a chance to read the article and watch the video at the Kansas City Star link?

Have you seen "The Beautiful Truth", or heard or Gerson Therapy?

I'm sorry about your brother in-law, and your having cancer. That's awful! It might be too late for him but this video is extremely informative and will help answer some questions about cancer.

Thank you for the links

I had a chance to watch them this afternoon. I had seen something on Gerson before but had not seen that particular video. I am looking up some more links now. Thanks!

Oh good! I'm glad to Bear

Have you come across anything, cool/worth sharing, through your searches?

Well, I was looking with eys for personal help

and found that that as you said, it is probably too late for my brother-in-law as the Gerson treatment taxes the kidneys and they must be functioning well to bear the toxicity of treatment. Since Joey's cancer is kidney cancer and he has already lost one and continues to have issues with the other, I find your words true.

So, I was looking for me. I found that Gerson does not recommend their treatment for genetic abnormalities so I am not sure if these words:

"Unfortunately, we have had little or no experience at the Gerson clinic with rare conditions or those of a genetic or congenital origin. These conditions present unique challenges and it is unlikely that there would be reversal or complete recovery from utilizing the Gerson"

apply to me or not since I have a genetic mutation that they think is a gene mutation in which a cancer fighting ability is missing.

I respect the Gerson page because it does not give false hope as in this treatment is for everyone and this treatment will heal you. To me that says it is on th up and up as they are not afraid to be honest. I cannot tell you the number people who tried to get me to buy into (financially) this or that program for healing...including the standard medical treatment that I chose lol.

It is interesting that one has to go to Mexico to get treatment. My Aunt died of cancer. She had to to go Mexico to get Laetril. She did a lot of juicing. She most likely was a carrier of the same gene mutation that I have. Both my mom and sister have the mutation. My mom has had cancer and is cancer free for over 10 years. She did standard treatment and the cancer was in the area lymph nodes. My sister is 16 year younger than me and has had several prophylactic surgeries in hopes to escape the cancer bullet.

Gerson does not have a preventative program from what I understand. I will keep the information in mind should my cancer return. I think return is basically a death sentence.

Thank you for sharing and for asking!

...

Walking with God?

I hear that so many times but is it true? Does he keep God's Commandments? Probably not as most "Christians" don't. It never ceases to amaze me how people love to blame God for their hardships, accidents and sicknesses.

There are very few people who "Walk with God" because most just do what they want and claim since if feels good to them then God accepts it. The very fact that he relied on Pharma (Sorcery) to save him is proof that he does not "Walk with God".

Sorry but it is true.

George Gordon's School of Law
http://library.georgegordon.com/Healthlaws

.

Hear, O Israel: YHUH our God YHUH one. And thou shalt love YHUH thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

What's your point?

I don't get your point as it pertains to the subject matter.

The subject is disease

"Now, in order to treat the cause of a disease, you need to know what caused it in the first place. At the risk of sounding simplistic, I contend the primary cause of disease is sin. In this case, I'm defining sin as the transgression of the Law. (see Leviticus 26:14-46 and Deuteronomy 28:15-68 for the causes of disease; John 3:4 for the definition of sin; also see Leviticus 26:16, 25 and Deuteronomy 28: 21-22, 27-28, 35, 45, 59-61)" - George Gordon

.

Hear, O Israel: YHUH our God YHUH one. And thou shalt love YHUH thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

Bingo. Sin is the transgression of the law.

So if you sin and suffer the consequences and then go to the sorcerers to be healed then you are in rebellion. Yahshua healed by forgiving sin. It is a matter of properly placed Faith and Obedience to Yahwh.

I will give you a perfect example. If you follow God's law then you can NEVER get AIDS. Yet people reject God and put there hopes in Sorcery (Pharma) so they can continue in there ungodly ways.

It really irks me when people say "Well why didn't God save him/her?" Because that leads to even dumber accusations such as "If GOD existed then little kids wouldn't get run over by buses." We create our problems through sin and rejection of HIM.

"And they did not repent of their murders or their "sorceries" or their sexual immorality or their thefts." Rev 9:21 Scripture is not talking about potheads here.
