Asked to give speech, talked about downfall of America. Worried I may not be invited back /s (video)

So I had 12 minutes to speak, took 20.. could have gone on for an hour easy. Way too much to cover so I had to skip through my ppt, but I hope you all get a kick out of it. Organizers were real nice afterwards, though I doubt they intended this as my material...

Any thoughts? feedback?

Keep at it

The basis of what you're doing is sound.
As your confidence grows you'll come across more self-assured.
As you become more self-assured, you'll be able to fire through the points more crisply, yet with the appropriate pausing for effect.
Looking people in the eye.

Connecting, making eye contact for a few seconds with individuals or appearing to (because it's dark out there).
Nodding your head, up and down to elicit agreement.
Tilting the top of your head forward as you nod, to express personal interest in them. (As opposed to that chin-up arrogant posture we see in Caesar Obama so often).
Balance looking at your power point with looking at the audience. going back and forth, so they do what you do.
Have you ever seen a presenter focus too much on the graphics and lose the audience?
Or if the presenter stops looking at the graphics altogether you're wondering why they have it or if there's any importance or validity to the graphic?
Balance and focus - back and forth. The graphic is important and the audience is important.
Like the "Sham Wow" guy. It's urgent. It's important. It's focused. And it's fast moving, but not rushed.

Consider these phrases;
"Do you see a (any, some, the) similarity(s)?" Socratic inquiry
"Is it starting to sound familiar?"
"Is America any different from these "empires", despite the wording?"
"Most people have a vague feeling that at the rate we are going the wheels are going to fall off at any time. Don't you?"
Allow them to agree. You won't have to prove your point. They will prove it for themselves.
Keep cranking out You Tubes.
It's very hard to do but consider doing this presentation over and over with no audience or maybe an audience of friend to help you hone your skills.
And always remember the tougher the audience the better you will become, when your ideas and assertions are "tested".
People want to be entertained too.

"One of my personal heroes Ron Paul."

Nice. I'm all ears.

It kept my attention all the way through.

Good job! ;)

I'll be passing it along

Thought you all might be interested to know…

Have received two job offers as a direct result of this speech. Seems like some people still appreciate honesty...

Thanks for all the feedback...

Glad yall enjoyed it.. If I ever get another chance to speak on the topic I will definitely revise and incorporate yalls thoughts. Thanks!

Finance people want to make money.

Markets function on an imbalance of information.

The ability to convey information that is useful for the purpose of finance, to make money, is a value.

You have this value - the ability to convey information.

You do almost all of the good 'speaker' things and almost none of the bad ones.

Don't feed the pandas. Ever.

Excellent; however,

at 8:26 I noticed that you had to pick up the pace. A lot of great information, but one thing I've learned from public speaking is that it is better done within the allot of time- because of this you run the risk of losing peoples interest.

Very informative. Well done. Thanks.

In the beginning of a change the patriot is a scarce man, and brave, and hated and scorned. When his cause succeeds, the timid join him, for then it costs nothing to be a patriot.

Good Presentation

One question though - if economy were working more or less fine (say 1950's), then you are okay with corporatism, right?

I believe corporatism is another form of centralized economic planning as corporatism necessitates the use of the state to ensure profitability and award contracts to corporations that would otherwise been unable to compete in a free marketplace. IMO you can not have monopolies without the government placing arbitrary subsidies or protections on them or building barriers for their competitors.

Excellent! Loved it!

Great Job!

Very sweet presentation

I'm sure they will invite you back. Congratulations and good luck on more speaches. Good job!

I enjoyed it... All i can say

I enjoyed it... All i can say is practice, practice, practice. it sounds like you know whats up... so just keep refining your speech. Work at slowing down at times, and add a few more jokes. :) ty for your hardwork

at times some of your words

at times some of your words are slurred, so i think slowing down even if its big words or words that are similar, i am refering to ryhmes or large words... you did better than i could lol

you were also clearly

you were also clearly rushing, as well. So, i think refining is really it.

Absolutely great

and interesting to listen to throughout. Would love to see you create maybe a series of videos breaking down the major ideas you talked about, and expanding on them.

The question is if the

The question is if the organizers liked it or not. If they arnt completely biased and go with what the response is like, I wouldnt worry too much since you say it has been positive.

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Nicely Done Sir

“You can’t really take what you hear as truth because you are going to lose a lot of money”
Very important point.

Way to bring Ron Paul to the world of academics. I studied literature, but I did my thesis on dystopias and I also looked at how different economic structures influenced the problems found in the dystopias. Nice speech, good for on talking about what you found to be important.

You do much better with public speaking than I do.

Well Done

Glad you are awake.

Can you take a joke?

You "Yadda, yadda, yadda'd" Ron Paul! I'm appalled!

Seriously, very nice. Are you looking for speaking tips? I don't want to offer critique that is unwanted, but I used to speak to big crowds regularly.

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

Would love some advice..

..always looking to learn, I'm all ears.

Open with an "attention grabber"

Audiences in general, not you personally - people don't care who you are or why you are talking until they are sure they are interested in what you are talking about. A joke, an eye popping graph or something like that. Pick something that excites you to open with, let them see your enthusiasm, then work the story of who you are in to the general narrative.
Work on losing the "Um." You do really well, I am hyper aware of it because my parents harped on me about it. It is usually a "thought gathering" habit, people are OK with a moment of quiet but bits of verbal "information" that do not inform tend to distract.
Most of all, keep plugging. You do really well, and you have a really good message!

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

Fantastic Job!!

I applaud the fact that you had the opportunity to speak the truth as you know it. I only wish I had the knowledge you have now when I was 23 to speak up. Keep it up, this was very inspirational to see and hear. Doctors Paul and Carter would be proud.

Great talk.

Job well done.

Very cool!

You're well spoken and articulate. Nice presentation. Was the response positive after you were done?

Ron Paul 2012

The response has been great..

most people wish I had more time to expand upon American Policy. No negative comments, but I've sensed some proverbial glazed eyes. You cant really see it in the video but I had a lot more content on my slides, I just had 0 time to mention it..
