No New Truck for Women Shot During Dorner Manhunt

"The two newspaper delivery women who were shot at during the manhunt for Christopher Dorner will not be getting a new replacement truck as promised by the LAPD, according to their attorney Glen Jonas.

It has been more than a month since LAPD Chief Charlie Beck promised the truck to Emma Hernandez, 71, and her daughter, Margie Carranza, who had been working in Torrance, Calif. before dawn on Feb. 7."

The ladys' lawyer

better not be making any concessions at all, or I am going to be angry with him.

Local Radio Station KFI AM640 Covered It Today

I listened to the John and Ken Show today. The womens' truck was hit by 102 bullets fired by 8 LAPD officers. It's a miracle they survived. The truck is being donated by a local dealership with ZERO coming from the LAPD. It was just a publicity stunt for LAPD.

The dealership has to issue a 1099 form to the women so that they can deduct the 40,000 value of the vehicle as a contribution. The women can't afford to even pay the income taxes that will be due as a result and are not interested in going thru the hassle.
Fortunately at the end of the show an LA City Councilman called in and said he would get in touch with the city attorney and find the funds to take care of the tax liability for the new truck. We'll see where it goes from there.

This has been a publicity disaster for the LAPD. Given its nature of corruption and disdain for the public it could have gone no other way. LAPD is a threat to public safety and will remain so until the citizens of LA demand a housecleaning. All 8 officers involved in the shooting remain on administrative leave (vacation) while the "investigation" continues.

So were any of the officers

So were any of the officers charged and arrested for shooting these innocent ladies and their vehicle? If not, then I guess it's ok for anyone to go shoot these officers wives and children in their cars and not have to worry about being held accountable or even be responsible for paying for the damaged car....

They have desk jobs until the furor blows over. Then they can take their shoot-em-up back to the streets.

privatize the police

Private police would be held accountable, in a court of law, for damaging an innocent civilian's property in the pursuit of a suspect.

I can't remember where but I

I can't remember where but I read the truck was donated so the LAPD can't even cover the tax?

It is easier to fool people than to convince them that they have been fooled. – Mark Twain

Since one of them tried to murder her...

...and turned her truck into swiss cheese, surely it's the least they could do to cover the tax.

If the donation directly from a third party to the injured party is the problem, maybe whoever is donating the truck could donate it to LAPD and then LAPD give it to the woman for restitution.

Cops don't owe you anymore than street gangs owe you.

They take but they do not give back a fraction of what they steal.

The cops are a street gang.

Dorner was 100% right about

Dorner was 100% right about the corruption and 'dont give a !@#$' attitude of the LAPD. He was wrong to kill people, but the LAPD did every thing wrong and these poor people suffered, even if they got a brand new truck, their lives were shattered by the LAPD. I hope they sue.

I'd say no thanks too...and let a jury decide what

my pain & suffering is worth. freaking idiots - they have no remorse.

But Dorner was the bad guy.

They executed a whistleblower on live TV. Well, they cut the feed for the important part.

Love or fear? Chose again with every breath.

Wouldn't the truck replacement fall under restitution?

If so, is other restitution treated as taxable income like a reward or prize?

Talk about adding insult to injury. Geez
