I think anyone would be willing to help those who have fallen down on their luck.
The problem is with those that have been sucking from the system generation after generation. Living others that work and cheating the system. The government doesn't care because they NEED the enslavement of the populace.
Block granting is essential to getting rid of the fraud. That way the state doesn't get more and more of taxpayer money depending on how many they get to sign up for free stuff.
And, all entitlements need to be added up and taxes paid. Even if that means they get less next time around in lieu of taxes or they have to WORK FOR IT. Some people get more in entitlements than I make working full time year round.

None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free

What a load! Notice most of those little desperate mommas AND their kids are obese?
Get the government off our backs and out of our wallets and watch the economy grow!
Disgusting guilt ridden socialist mush!

RON PAUL is the GOLD STANDARD of politics, his value never changes; it's tied to the CONSTITUTION!

The average entitlement taker

The average entitlement taker makes 20% MORE then the average working American! Enough said! For everyone of these people, I could point out where they bit off more then they could handle, and got themselves in their predicament!

I don't know who would vote

I don't know who would vote you down, but it was probably someone who couldn't swallow the truth.

When I was a kid,

I remember on several occasions where the school teacher would offer the class a reward, perhaps no homework for the night if we'd "be quiet and settle down."

Well, needless to say this filled us with exuberance over such a tempting prospect. Thus, a kid or two would shush someone ruining it for all of us. In response they would be shushed by others and before long things would escalate into a huge shouting match for everyone to "shut up!"

I never participated. Honestly. I'd just sit there quietly with a stunned look on my face while thinking, "these people just don't get it!"

In many ways I believe we never learn and in particular when it comes to politics. The duopoly government (teacher) promises great things if only we (students) would settle down on one of two choices.

In kind each side continues to blame (shush) the other, becoming increasingly adamant and boisterous in their convictions, all the while as the ship sinks deeper and deeper.

Watching people suffer like this is absolutely gut-wrenching for me. I'm overwhelmed with feelings of frustration and helplessness. I just want to pick these people up and shake them silly. They've done this to themselves and will not stop before they destroy it for everyone simply because they just don't get it and I'm afraid never will.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

Something About This

doesn't ring true to me. Sorry.

On top of this mess, they're

On top of this mess, they're constantly stressing everyone with their incessant social engineering crap. The reason why everything will keep getting worse and worse is because Foreign policy, Monetary policy, Trade policy, and status quo policies will never change from one president to the next.

This from a Watts Up With That comment;

I second the recommendation of The Rational Optimist although my work on education globally makes me less optimistic. I actually believe that what is going on now with education reform is not dissimilar to what Matt describes in about 15th century China. The bureaucrats do not want technology or inventions that will displace their current authority. We are literally watching education being used now to try to avoid the creative destruction inherent in markets. We can get through the ed reforms and the false CAGW hyping but only if they are seen accurately for the effects they are trying to achieve. Statism would be a succinct way to describe it."

It kills me when people talk about cuts to "social services"

as "hurting the middle class."

The middle class doesn't need social services.

The government has zero authority to provide any such services.

To the extent the government violates the law and provides them anyway, all Americans are poorer and worse off because of it.

Middle Class

It is terrible that folks are losing there homes and life styles. I noticed that most of them are very over weight. We need to educate folks on the importance of not eating wheat products and soda.

I feel terrible seeing them so hopeless. We have very uneducated Americans who do not know how to save money or how to be creative to survive in this world.

I am fortunate at this time. Things can change for anyone. I am willing to live with strangers. If I have to , I will rent out rooms in my home in order to survive.

There are no guarentees in life. It is up to you to create your reality.

This is a Liberitarian website. We believe in capitalism. Yes, the government has over taxed us and over burdened the companies with too many regulations.

We are going into terrible times. The answer is to recreate our government. The system is broke.

I'm so sorry for all those out there who are unhealthy and losing their homes. Get into shape, no one will save you. You are accountable for you.
