‘Conservative Hero’ Ben Carson To Beck: You Have No Right To Semi-Automatic Weapons In Large Cities

Appearing on Glenn Beck‘s radio show this past week, Dr. Benjamin Carson took a vastly different stance from most conservatives on the issue of gun control, claiming you shouldn’t be able to own semi-automatic weapons in large cities.

Sorry if this has been posted. i searched and did not see it. in light of the current love-fest around him i thought everyone should take a step back and listen to everything he said in this interview. i don't even agree with half of what he said.

It seems like the media are trying to pump up non-contenders like they did with the 2012 election, water down the field so to speak.

I can see it now, 9 people on the gop ticket running for potus in '16, only one of them obeys their oath, and only one of them has been preselected by the media, and the other 7 are there to take away attention from the drastic differences between the media darling and the one who defends the constitution.

“When a well-packaged web of lies has been sold gradually to the masses over generations, the truth will seem utterly preposterous and its speaker a raving lunatic.” – Dresden James

That is quite an interesting opinion.

If one does not defend and protect the Constitution, Bill of Rights. If one does not promote the truth to the American people accurately and forwardly, but instead further confuse/dilute the rights of which we are born with.

((( carson ))), I have a question for you: Why DID obama let you speak at that breakfast? Nevermind, I do not need an answer; life experience informs me that to accomplish ones goals, one must continue to be ever more creative based upon the dynamics of what one is confronted with.

Bye-bye, carson. I hope you enjoyed it while it lasted.

Dr Carson-President???

I think it's too soon. He has good core values and appears to be a good man, but may be naive on how gov operates, as well as the meaning of "shall not be infringed". I think he needs to keep his day job for now.

That said, when diane feinstein asked if we should have bazookas? The answer is yes since the gov has them, and tanks and whatever else the gov has if the reason, and obligation I might add, is to stop a tyrannical gov.

well Dr Ben Carson was on my radar

but after hearing him compromise on the second amendment plus all this God this God that talk, I have found he no longer represents me.

Nothing against people who believe in God. But Dr Carson is giving me the impression that he not only is going to place his Christianity on his shoulders but will run his office placing religion first, in front of other issues like civil liberties. Just a hunch. Nothing against people who carry their religion on their shoulders, but a president or anyone in gov that does so is not appealing to me and will not be appealing to many others.

Was just a matter of time before he started losing points I guess. I like him a on many issues like healthcare. But he is dangerous in a way. Especially to the 2nd amendment. This is not a time for us to be supporting someone who looks like they may compromise on the 2nd amendment.

i concur

I knew very little about this

I knew very little about this man, in fact first time seeing him was when he spoke at the prayer breakfast. I like what he said there.i saw a few other interviews and still liked him. When I would think about it I came back to the way I though of Obama when he ran in 2008. Really good speaker, saying a lot of things I wanted to hear but what is his record? What will his actions really be? I never could answer that about Obama. So now when I don't know anything about someone who is running for pres, but are good speakers, I wait an listen and learn....I think this guy just lost me. i knwo I won't find someone that I agree on everything with, but these happento be big things.
1)I don't like his answeron semi-auto maitc weapons. It didn't really even make much sense - a cray gu can own a semi-automatic int he country but not the city? The guy in the country can just travel to the city and do what he wants with it if he is crazy enugh. no sense here and once again limiting out right to the 2nd ammendment.
2)If Im dying -I don't have the right to try test trials to save my wn life?
So I learned something from Glen Beck afer all - this guy is a good speaker but Im sensing he will not be the man for me.

Not a fake

in my opinion.

I don't agree with Carson about everything, but at least you
could have a conversation with him about an area of disagreement
and be reasonably confident he was approaching the matter
with decent intentions and an open mind.

Which is not something you could say about Obama, Billary
or Bush or most politicians for that matter.

Although in Dubya's case I guess you could argue that
a vacuum is pretty much inherently open...

Carson's answer about the assault weapon was wrong IMO,
but he is miles ahead of Obama and the statist neocon phony
conservatives in my book because unlike them, he doesn't (as far as I can tell)
have an agenda of wanting to have the federal executive controlling/surveilling/
micromanaging everyone's affairs from cradle to grave.

This guy (Carson) is controled opposition

IMHO he shows up out of no where and is modest nonthreating sounding and lightly goes after Obummer and all of a sudden everyone on the right is having a love fest WHY! Have we learned nothing? Is it because he`s black and every person on the right/liberty side of things wants to appear to be non racist,if Rand or Mike Lee had made statements like this it would be over for them by everyone on this site! If ANYONE DOESN`T GET the constitution and the 2nd amendment they are a PROBLEM!!!!! Don`t you find it interesting timing that when many of our elected repuklacan representatives are looking for a reason to cave on the 2nd amendment that this clown says this and his position on drugs shows he doesn`t understand LIBERTY!!!!!!!!!!!

spot on

i'm sure he is pro drug war from his statement to beck about not allowing people drugs they need unless he deems them necessary. sounds like the kind of doctor that would say no to medical marijuana for a brain cancer patient but would happily prescribe all the deadly pain pills and pharma crap you want. he's a statist authoritarian imo.

Because he's a fake

the establishment will be at it again. Foisting fake conservatives at us from left and right to muddy the waters and confuse, distract, and pull voters away from the only liberty candidate running. Although I think this time collectively we will be much stronger since the old guard is definitely divided on Rand. The establishment fears Rand pulling democrats the most and I do believe this guy Carson is suddenly a national political figure? to neutralize the Rand Paul threat with democrats. It was all a charade with frothy and the grinch last cycle, and I expect the same charade of charlatans and fakes to be prominently paraded out there to muddy the waters once again. Divide and conquer, and confuse. Except this time it won't work.

Large cities have the most...

violent criminal gangs and these gangs have weapons more lethal than semi-autos with banana clips. And most large cities are facing financial problems that limit their ability to police gang activity. So if you outlaw semi-autos, only outlaws will have semi-auto and fully automatic weapons. Cornel West called Obama a "Rockefeller Republican in black face", and based Carson's position on guns, maybe the same label could be applied to him.

Another prominent individual,

With the courage to stand up against the establishment, and say it like it is, thrown under the bus by the liberty movement?.
Does it matter what his personal view on urban gun ownership is, when he doesn't force that view on others, and clearly supports the 2A.

Opposing urban gun ownership and supporting the second amendment are mutually exclusive.

Your reading too much into

A one line response. He clearly stated the 2A was there for a reason, and also that he supported the right to bear arms, the rest was personal conjecture. I'd much rather ask the man to clarify his views in detail, and debate the issue, before throwing him under the bus.

As for cognitive reasoning, the title in this thread is simply misleading; "it depends on where you live..I think?", it just didn't happen the way it is intended to suggest.

Is it common sense to infrindge a free persons gun rights?

In the cities is where the most violent crimes are statistically. So that is where more people may need guns for protection.

Oh how can he chop Liberty like this!!!!!!!!

He put his foot square in his mouth about the hole common sense thing...

To disarm an free individual is equivalent to spitting in his face.

I wont discredit his entire being but i will discredit any action of him running for office, stick to medicine. And just because he works on brains for a living, does not mean his is full functioning, just saying.

Is he advocating

Total urban dis-armament?, or is he responding to a question intended to create a dilemma..damned if you do, damned if you don't.
Easy to criticise when the opportunity has been created to do so.
Why not take the next step, and pose those questions to him, rather than myself;

and gain a real insight into the reality of his own personal views on 2A, SSRI's and random mass executions.
After all, it's not like it's brain surgery.

...he doesn't support Amendment II, regardless of what he or you may claim.

Amendment II prohibits government from infringing on the RKBA, exactly like the restriction that he advocates.

The core type of arms that Amendment II was enumerated to secure are the very ones he desires to see restricted...arms of military capability or equivelency.

Anyone who can equate his advocated position with him being a supporter of Amendment II has a deficiency in cognitive reasoning, or something.

Losing argument

The old "crazy person" argument. If (fill-in-the-blank) is likely to fall into the hands of a "crazy person", that "thing" you should not have. However, we have already predetermined that no one wearing a costume and badge provided by the state is a "crazy person". Jesus, where do they get these intellectual dullards?

Fake Conservative

Being a neurosurgeon you would think he knew something about bipolar? ;)

Oh men of science, ye of so little faith.

Bye Bye Ben...

Huh? Sounds like free speech zones...

Semi-Auto (One trigger pull, one bullet) guns should be legal only in certain areas? Sounds like free speech zones to me... What's next?

Moot point, but curious:

According to the Doc; What exactly constitutes a "big" city? What's the magic number for the amount of people per square area? What if there is a safe/low crime area in a BIG city vs a high crime area in a SMALL city.

The doc speaks common sense - up until the 2nd amendment!?!

I just dropped him like a hot potato.

I won't support him, anymore.

The argument is lacking any logic

People in cities can't own SA firearms because "someone might go crazy". So people in cities are worth more than people in the country, or only people in cities go crazy? He's pandering to what he thinks is the gun community at large in my opinion. Who he believes are the gun owners are mostly rural people living in small towns. And frankly that's stereotypical bullshit.

The man is fundamentally inept in the reasoning behind individual natural rights, that much is apparent. Location, timing, feelings, atmosphere have nothing to do with your rights.

A right is not relative to city vs country. If I have a right to bear arms, it is not a privilege to bear arms while in the country side, while prohibited in the city. A right is not a privilege, subject to conditions. The only condition to a claim of right is not to trespass on the rights of others.

I Don't Trust Him!

When Fox News pushes him or any other supposed conservative, I become suspicious. I remember that, Sean Hanity didn't even acknowlege Ron Paul winning the Iowa straw poll or even mention that he won second place. Sean did mention who won first, third, and fourth place.

Well, if he doesn't believe in the second amendment- though shall not infringe - than he's not a constitutionalist.

Hanniturd Seems...

...to like Rand and has had him on a number of times.

CFoxR News has seemingly advanced Rand as a 'possible' POTUS candidate in 2016 and as a 'player' and an up-and-comer in the GOP.

How does that set with you and your 'suspicion meter'?

I was already sick of Ben Carson before I learned the gun grab

He is way too aggressive with his Seventh Day Adventism.

The media is pushing him into the political scene for shallow, nefarious reasons. Oh cool, he's a doctor? A million of us are. Oh cool he's a minority? One of millions. Don't care.

He is like a more sophisticated Herman Cain with no clear ideology.
