George Will: ‘What I did see at CPAC was the rise of the libertarian strand of Republicanism - ABC News Video

“... What I did see at CPAC was the rise of the libertarian strand of Republicanism, which has an affected foreign policy that is a pullback from nation-building and other ambitions aboard that they never countenance from government at home, and a sense of ‘live and let live’ with subjects such as decriminalization of certain drugs and gay marriage.”

Make your vote count! Die Bold. Elections Systems soften blow.

These two brothers founded American Information Systems (AIS), which later became ES&S

Senator Chuck Hagel was chairman of ES&S precursor AIS. He became Senator in an upset victory based on votes counted by ES&S machines.

Wow! George Will said this?! GEORGE WILL!??!

Well then! There MUST be something to it.

And here we were. All this time.

Having NO IDEA!!

Thank GOD we have intellectual titans like GEORGE WILL, summarizing the "State of the Nation" with razor sharp prophetic accuracy, trustworthiness and wisdom.

I feel the tiniest little tear of gratitude welling up out of the corner of my eye for these giants of integrity and foresight that interpret politics for us and let us know what is really happening and what is important ...

Thank god for GEORGE WILL

Of course they focus on drug legalization and foreign policy, the issues where we and the mainstream conservatives most disagree, rather than on fiscal and economic issues, where we have most in common.

If we're going to be successful in coming elections, we need to find common ground with mainstream conservatives. If we allow "social issues," drugs, and foreign policy to divide us, the next GOP presidential nominee will be yet another establishment stooge. We don't need to abandon our principles at all, but we need to form a coalition, as Ron always said vis a vis Congressional politics. The platform of a conservative-libertarian candidate in 2016 needs to focus primarily on fiscal and economic issues, with some emphasis on foreign policy, and virtually nothing about social issues or drugs. That's the only winning ticket IMO. End tangent.

These guys would rather make up the news than report it.

the rnc needs to change vote fraud if it wants to win

Electronic voting machines have made it possible to “predict” the outcome of any election even before any vote returns are counted. Apparently, the major media conglomerates decide on who will win an election and by what margin http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=OynCg...

The RNC has commisioned a study and found 10 ways it needs

to change to get back into the running for 2016.

THEY still don't get it, even if George Will finally does. NONE of the ten ways include embracing the Liberty movement or NOT slicing off a vital part of the party, as the Republicans did at the convention and then expecting to win without the party's better half.

MY FAVORITE PART of the newly commisioned study:

"Republicans believe they have a communication problem, not a message problem. While the Growth and Opportunity Project was never meant to be a policy document, there appears to be no movement in the direction of shifting principles in the near future. “I don’t think our platform is the issue,” Priebus said during a stop on his listening tour in Iowa earlier this month."

Yeah - right. The people WANT no choice in foreign policy from what the Democrats offer and just more of the same.

In other words take the same crap product that makes people sick to their stomachs and put it in a pretty new bottle and it will just fly off the shelves!

The people want the LIBERTY product. Only IT was selling. But the Republicans abruptly pulled it from the market the fact that it was spontaneously selling with NO advertising campaign. And the Republicans tried to get us to dring their crud.

Anybody here familiar with Robert Johnson, formerly of Apple, who came to try and save JCPenney by ending the sales and the deep discounts that shoppers had grown to know and love He said publicly that he was going to "educate shoppers" in the new way of shopping at JCPenney. But it seems that the shoppers decided to educate HIM by staying away in droves.

THATS what happens when shoppers have a choice. And the Republican Party ought to learn from this - it IS the message, and the voters will NOT be trained to accept it if they don't want it. (And they DON'T want it).

Really, George?

Really? You're JUST NOW noticing the rise of the libertarians within the GOP? You're paid to stay ahead of trends and report on them and you're JUST NOW noticing this trend? Ron Paul won CPAC definitively twice. Now his son won too. Way to stay on top of things, George.

did my heart good to see your comment

I believe we're seeing the beginning of an effort to co-opt. It looks like it might not work very well. Good.

Make fun of George Will if you want but remember that guys like

Reince Priebus DON'T see the rise in the Liberty Movement as a significant factor even YET!

Can't say more.

I really can't add to this comment. It was spot on. Libertarianism is mainstream, but jokers like George are paid to act like it's a small faction just getting started, when by far the vast majority of Americans like freedom and despise the authoritarian government we have now.

In a way, it might work to

In a way, it might work to our benefit that these jokers are clueless.

I think so many people (though, not enough yet), are on to the scamming of the masses, that it's too late to stop the momentum.

I forsee alot of people only

I forsee alot of people only now realising it, thats what tends to happen when you walk with your heads down, stands to reason folks here ( and other places ) know about the libertarian strand already, hell, you ARE that libertarian strand

Proud of you guys, hope liberty finds a home in all nations, thanks for leading the charge, i hope we join you in numbers, and together create a better way of life, liberty, and a pursuit of happiness
