TSA agents 'humiliated' Marine who lost both legs to an IED

Caroline May | The Daily Caller | March 19, 2013

Transportation Security Administration officers “humiliated” a Marine who lost both legs to an Improvised Explosive Device by requiring the wheelchair-bound Marine to stand and walk. They also had him remove both his prosthetic legs, according to a letter from Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-California).

“The individual escorting this Marine asked the TSA officer which of the two checkpoints to enter and received the response, ‘either one,’ only to be told moments later they should have entered a different way. As a result, a TSA officer asked the Marine to stand and walk to an alternate area, despite the fact that he physically could not stand or walk on his own,” Hunter explained in his letter.

Disgraceful

That's life in our "zero tolerance" world that
a) dumbs down morality,
b) fosters standardization, and
c) diverts control from the individual to the government
by replacing the use of JUDGMENT & COMMON SENSE with (centrally-planned) RULES THAT MUST BE FOLLOWED. The government's work-ethic mantra: "We're not paying you to think!"

Thus, we have cases such as a kindergartener suspended when he brought a toy ax to school - on Halloween: it was part of his fireman's costume (Deer Lakes, PA). And we have an active-duty Marine who lost his legs to an IED forced to remove his prosthetic legs and endure other insults added to injury... among a litany of such heartless government/TSA abuses to the disabled, the elderly, and children (not that anyone should have to deal with being physically touched by government workers)... what Hunter rightly described as a "lack of situational awareness and respect." Fortunately for bureaucrats, older Americans are becoming inured to such behavior, while younger Americans are being raised to believe this is actually normal.

When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.

Sounds like something the SS had done...

"Sorry Marine"

Get in line behind the even more numerous wheelchair bound civilians who have to deal with the same crap from TSA. (Elderly women and small children included). No "special treatment" just because you served the empire and helped make it all possible.

SO well said !

i think i like you

The problem isn't that this

The problem isn't that this person was/is a Marine, the problem is that people in wheelchairs have to endure this at all. The solution which will eventually be put in place will exempt politicians -via Rand Paul and other who complain about the way they(politicians) are treated by TSA- and Police and Military. Meaning that government employees will eventually become exempt from this nonsense while the rest of us, just aren't important enough to be exempt.

I feel dizzy..

And sick to my stomach after reading this.
Thanks for the post!

I love www.isidewith.com shared it with everyone I know. If anything they realize its not just a red and blue idiot running for reelection.

Outrageous.

I guess cowardice is a pre-requisite on the TSA job application form.
