Dying Iraq War Veteran Pens 'Last Letter' To Bush, Cheney On War's 10th Anniversary

Here is an excerpt from dying Irag War veteran Tomas Young to the war criminals Bush and Cheney.

See the link below for entire letter and a news report about it.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"I write this letter, my last letter, to you, Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney. I write not because I think you grasp the terrible human and moral consequences of your lies, manipulation and thirst for wealth and power.
I write this letter because, before my own death, I want to make it clear that I, and hundreds of thousands of my fellow veterans, along with millions of my fellow citizens, along with hundreds of millions more in Iraq and the Middle East, know fully who you are and what you have done.
You may evade justice but in our eyes you are each guilty of egregious war crimes, of plunder and, finally, of murder, including the murder of thousands of young Americans—my fellow veterans—whose future you stole.
What a harrowing letter
Something I've been mulling over in the back of my head for a few decades...
Does the POTUS actually hold any power? Or are the puppet strings pulled and those in office are simply advised by their handlers?
Maybe on paper they hold power? The older I get the more I see how the presidents and big politicians who have tried to buck the system get offed. And hopefuls cast aside or quieted.
I want a politician who stands for the Constitution and exercises his/her power for the greater good of the people of the United States without being cast aside or disappeared.
Often, I get depressed about our economy, job growth, what we actually produce here and consume here in the United States, and mostly I feel bad for my son, having to piggyback off of me.
I get bummed when I see my favorite non GMO organic only fruit and veggie store get converted into a we buy gold store and over-run by crime.
My neighborhood has changed so much in the past fifteen years or so it's not recognizable any more. Today I witnessed a drug deal outside of the local supermarket. Guy put his stuff into a free magazine, another guy walked up and took the mag, put something into the next one, then the original shady guy started to drive away but evidently forgot there was cash in the other newspaper and ran out and grabbed it.
Pretty ingenious. But what if a child had taken that or the previous rag out? If drugs were legalized I wouldn't have to see stuff like that.
I'm veering way off topic. PTSD and physical damage is a serious ordeal for our soldiers and they really need help. End all wars now and put that money into the VA, overseen by someone who can stop waste and get our vets what they need, obviously at a lower cost than war.
I trashed my voluntary servitude or whatever it was called when it was sent to me, later to find out I couldn't get a loan for college (although my whole life I have never owned a credit card, so it doesn't matter much) and I've advised my son of the same.
I was in a situation with a good friend where we were attacked and I almost died (I think I may have for a minute), and currently am diagnosed with PTSD. My friend however came out unscathed. I think some people can deal with it and some can not. I think PTSD is the wrong term. I think it should just be PTS.
I had a friend call me today, and he's at his wits end. He can't find a job, has no money, and also has PTS(D). I want to help him somehow but don't know of any way other than write a letter of recommendation and just listen. He's not happy. People are restless.
I wish the writer of this letter would fight in his own life as hard as he can and flip the bird at the establishment and prosper. Never give up. Fight to live and again, flip the finger at those who doubt him.
Every president in my lifetime has seemed to be simply a puppet. When I was my son's age I told everyone the president is a figurehead, much like a monarchy or patriarchy. But with different bloodlines and the illusion of power. Then as I grew older I really thought the president could do stuff. But then I grew older and realized the thoughts of a 12 year old are pretty much truthful.
Bush & et.al (sic) just seem to be puppets although they did oversee this operation. But they aren't quite as stupid as some may think.
Today driving home I was thinking about presidency and idolatry and such, then I came home to this thread.
I think the banker industrial complex (including and especially lobbyists) is far more powerful than the military industrial complex, which is more powerful than the president and those residing underneath.
Please world prove me wrong.
A noble, gallant, lion-hearted, and moving letter...
from an American Patriot that bush and cheney are not even worthy to read nor hear.
Unless, of course, it was at their trial for treason against the United States.
God Bless you, Tomas Young. May your memory live on forever.
point of view from another disabled vet
this style of open letter turns me off.
He and his letter are being USED and will be used by groups not opposed to war or empire. Their only purpose at all cost is to disparage political and ideological enemies. All with no respect for the young serviceman's life, health problems or death.
I would advise every young person not to join the military.
I talked my own nephews out of it - probably saved their lives.
The way I see it, there are four reasons people join the military:
1. To get all the government paid benefits of military life; Health care, dental care, education, housing, retirement, wage, job security, travel etc.
or
2. To "defend" the United States
or
3. To exact revenge on the bad guys who "terrorize" us
or
4. For an "adventure." Probably driven by the glorification of wars put forth by Hollywood, literature and the media
All active service members go along with U.S. foreign policy and apparently agree with it. Because THEY are enforcing it.
NOT ONE member of the military was forced to go to any conflicts we're in today or since Vietnam.
But SOME vets, like the one who wrote that letter, obviously came to the realization that we were duped by that rotted war-mongering Bush administration.
And even though he himself was part of Bush's illegal/immoral/unconstitutional war, I now applaud him for seeing the light and having the guts to bash Bush
I'd be doing the same thing - only a little less polite.
It's possible that many of our soldiers are products of Dept of Education's lies, propaganda and indoctrination.
libertarian?
I believe in individual liberty. So I would never talk someone out or into the military. When asked I give a balance view of facts I personally experienced in the military. Basically, I don't jump to conclusions. I don't normal vocalize but when friends have asked my opinion. I've stated how I loved being in the military and so far best time of my life. Most people don't even see combat or any life threatening situations. You get what you put in. Plan & work hard you'll go from $15k to 120k per year in just a few years and peacefully travel the world.
PS I didn't join for any of your reasons. I think you're projecting your thoughts and feelings onto others.
Ron paul said that we are still in Iraq a couple of weeks ago
Ron Paul said that after all the troops were taken out of Iraq they were replaced with thousands of mercenaries who work for the us army and are subsidized by the us government everyday. These thousands of mercenaries guard our embassy in iraq and kill lots of innocent people everyday in iraq according to Ron Paul. Ron Paul also said that the us government spends billions of dollars every year on this big embassy and that the embassy in Iraq needs to be closed down and all the mercenaries taken out of Iraq and that until this happens we are still occupying and invading Iraq. Ron Paul also said that George Bush made a timeline to get the troops out of Iraq and that timeline was for it to automatically happen in 2010. Even though Obama fought against as hard as he could removing the troops from Iraq in 2010 he could not stop the troops from being removed from Iraq because bush signed into law a timeline to automatically have all the troops leave Iraq in 2010. So Obama in 2010 replaced all the troops with thousands of mercenaries subsidized by the government every day who work for the us military so that we could discretely continue our invasion of Iraq. This is all according to Ron Paul.
What a great propaganda tool
I heard it today on a "top of the hour" news break on AM radio. They were saying how violence erupted and it's a "volatile" situation because "ALL of our troops are out of Iraq"...They NEVER mention the mercenaries, private contractors and the 50,000 so called "non-combat" troops (whom still carry guns) That gives the left wing media and Obama the ability to claim that he actually got us out of there, but nothing could be further from the truth. I even heard it on HANNITY. A liberal caller with some good points was complaining that we still have an embassy there and controlled opposition Hannity said, "no- no, Obama pulled ALL of our troops out of Iraq"
A fine diversionary left vs right paradigm propaganda tactic...Liberals will here that and say "SEE, even HANNITY say's we're out of Iraq and he HATES Obama!" while the so called Conservatives will say "SEE! Obama is weak on the war on terror!" The more of this mind numbing crap I listen to the more i want to drive off a cliff
Made the front page of YAHOO
Made the front page of YAHOO as well. Not buying it.....like someone said already......the whole response to 9/11 was poorly planned and played out all wrong. None of the invasions were justified. With Iraq, Afganistan, Libya, Syria......hopefully people see through this crap.
Truth before all else.....it is what will allow us to emerge with dignity and honor.
I'm skeptical
Of this whole publicity stunt.
He is making the same arguments all over again, These have been debated, and people have chosen their side - the perfect dialectic.
The war on terror is OK, but not the Iraq war. Middle East intervention is OK, just not in this case.
Nope, I don't buy it.
Bump!
Bush/Cheney too small of a target
You really want to write it to the entire MIC, the entire government, including the public schools, who in 13 years of instruction, fail to explain even once the immorality of war and killing people.
Let's not forget Obama's war crimes.
As a Senator he supported the neo-con agenda, and as president, he's a neo-con leader in liberal clothing.
All of them
Statist. The distinctions between left and right are illusions.
No payback yet
It amazes me none of these veterans have gone after the Neocons, or the shills in the media that sold the Neocon narratives to better their own careers.
These a-holes have killed or destroyed so many veterans and innocents... I'm singing to the choir, but still amazed.
I have often thought the same thing
not a single person or group has gotten fed up enough to go all "A-team" out there.
Shows how far gone we are.
and yet, the BRAINWASHING of our YOUNG BOYS
...still is occurring through MAJOR MEDIA TV ADS to join the service. It's sickening, for those poor boys haven't a clue what they will be facing, NOT A CLUE! And, their nit-wit parents are clueless, too.
The BANKING BILLIONAIRE ELITES....dangle the carrot for a "paid" college education. There is a special place in hell these elites are heading for, so live it up now, why don't ya...
He should've also addressed it to
Obama and any congressman that voted for these wars.
thank you--
What are the chances that
What are the chances that they will ever stand for what they did? Who knows.
Just today I saw on the news a vet that said it was worth it to be over there "protecting our freedoms" and I thought about: what if someone asked exactly what freedoms he was protecting?
To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.
The vet who made that statement that it was worth it to be...
...over there "protecting our freedoms" is truly misguided.
This country has not used our military to defend us since 1945.
The elite uses our military to protect THEIR profits.
Who are these elite?
Central banks mainly.
This includes the Federal Reserve to be sure.
"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."
-Ron Paul
A question for you, Pawn...
What exactly did our military defend in 1945? Please don't say Pearl Harbor...we all now know that whole thing was provicated. The way I see it, we haven't used military force to defend since 1775 or so...or perhaps against Spain a few years later. That was the last time America was attacked and needed defending, that I can think of...
Other than that, I whole-heartedly agree with you!..it's all about central banks and interest payments. Islam (as I understand it) permits banking...and it permits loans and mortgages. But it does not permit interest!! The religious doctrine is to help your fellow man...and charging interest on a loan is a no-no in the eyes of the Muslim world. So, get out your world map and see which countries we're carpet-bombing...none of them have a central bank. Coincidence?
Pearl harbor was also not in the US
Sure it was our property, but it was thousands of miles out in the Pacific away from the mainland well before Hawaii was a state.
Our sanctions during "operation starvation" killed like 10 MM Asians - our own holocaust except with a higher body count.
(I upvoted you back into the blue)
Currently consuming: Morehouse's "Better off free", FDR; Wii U; NEP Football
Maybe I should have re-worded it to say the last time we...
...actually declared war (as per our Constitution) was WWII.
Although many feel that Germany and Japan would have eventually turned their sights on us, I agree that Pearl Harbor was provoked and probably could have been avoided.
We could argue about our involvement in WWII but that's probably the only war we'd argue over.
We certainly had no business in World War One - Or any other war since WWII in my opinion.
In the book "The Creature From Jekyll Island" it explains how every war is a banker's war.
Nothing has changed today.
It's just too bad those who VOLUNTEER to go off to these wars never realized that - and still believed they were "defending the United States."
The Dept of Education indoctrinates the sheeples at an early age to believe the lies of the elites - and to ultimately volunteer to do their bidding.
