Amazing TED Speech: The Danger of "The Single Story"

This speech from a Nigerian novelist and will blow you away!

"Chimamanda Adichie tells the story of how she found her authentic cultural voice -- and warns that if we hear only a single story about another person or country, we risk a critical misunderstanding."

It's been posted before but it's such a beautiful/good story with such a timeless message.

Glad to share!

I loved it -- thank you

glad to post it!!

glad to post it!!

An interesting take

On how stereotyping is proliferated, especially in western cultures. I might add that propaganda and indoctrination play no small part in keeping those perspectives in focus. The thought of dropping bombs on civilised, educated, contented and peaceful people doesn't go down quite so well with the masses.
Thanks for posting.

How Rude! There is NO REASON to Vote This Down!!

We have the problems we have because we can't come together.

Hate me? Fine!

But don't vote down a quality speech/thread because of it.

Grow UP!

Don't take it personally

Some people are like that. I voted you up. I remember seeing this video before, and it is a good one.

We will never all be able to come together. Don't let it get you down. Keep your expectations low, and you'll always be pleasantly surprised.

Thank you!

Thank you Michael, I appreciate that!

Yeah I had actually posted it in 2010 and it was posted on the front page.

I re-watch it every once in a while...

I love the story and the lesson it teaches.

interesting to hear what living with runaway inflation is like

I couldn't imagine experiencing that! (and hopefully I never will)
