Wow, that was really

something. I was hesitate to read but glad I did, truth is painful but we don't grow unless we know.

I have a friend who is Chinese. Her father fled China to North Vietnam when the Communists took over. He had been a successful businessman, he dug up his gold and family and fled in the night.

In North Viet Nam he started over and became successful again. I think he had a hotel or something because again the Communists came to North Viet Nam, he fled this time to South Viet Nam. His bother refused to leave the business so my friend's father went without his brother. In South Viet Nam again the man built a business and his family grew.

I think my friend has six siblings and the father sent his children abroad to other countries as soon as they were old enough, some as young as 12. These kids all went to university they were HIGHLY intelligent and hard working they have Masters and higher degrees. Some went to France, Canada,Germany, my friend came to the US and studied in California.

While in California, her fathers letters and support ended. She was frantic, she had no means of support. This tiny lady became a janitor for the University. She also, finally got in contact with her father and worked with another brother to bring the rest of the family out of Viet Nam and to the Us. Unfortunately, some of her siblings have mental issues I think due to the mental stress.

My friend told me how her youngest brother didn't get out in time and he went crazy with worry that he would be conscripted into the military to fight, he was just a child.

I think of these people and all that they have endured and wonder would I have such courage to keep moving forward and not only move forward but each time the man became successful, this man is in his 90's now.

I guess I share this because I admire how this man was a survivor and his tenacity not to give up.

It doesn't look like we learn anything and keep repeating history.

Is this why some of our vets

come home suicidal?

What is wrong with these people - this is beyond deviant behavior.

The law cannot make a wicked person virtuous…God’s grace alone can accomplish such a thing.

I think it is very important

I think it is very important for people today to see the true horrors and reality of war. It is painful to see but we owe it to the victims to at least expose ourselves to the truth that was their reality.

I read a great book on WWII called "The last battle" which gave first hand accounts of the fall of the Third Reich from a number of perspectives. There were passages that I will never forget the detailed the actions of the Russians when they invaded Berlin which is echoed as a common theme that comes up in almost all wars.

In the end, there is no glory in war. It is nothing more than atrocities that in normal life would be viewed as the most heinous crimes but state sanctioned and committed on a massive scale.

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.

Good article

Why did they put two on the same page?

Probably because of the title of the second story

I noticed it had a downvote before there were any posts. People have let the media get them accustomed to not hearing the word rape and instead 'sexual assault' is becoming the norm.
People should not let the media dictate what they hear and change the American vocabulary.
Especially liberty minded people on this blog.
