Boycotting Israel is the "way to go," says Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters
Submitted by ralph hornsby on Wed, 03/20/2013 - 17:31Roger Waters is the most famous rock star to have publicly supported the campaign for boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel.
A founder of Pink Floyd — a British rock group which has sold more than 250 million albums — Waters decided to become active in the international Palestinian solidarity movement following a trip to the West Bank in 2006. Shocked by the oppression that he witnessed, Waters spray-painted the words “we don’t need no thought control” — a line from one of his biggest hits — on Israel’s wall.
More recently, Waters has served as a juror on the Russell Tribunal on Palestine, an initiative aimed at drawing attention to how Western governments and companies aid Israel’s violations of international law. In that capacity, he addressed the United Nations during November last year.
Visiting Brussels for the tribunal’s final session, Waters said he would explore the idea of releasing a single urging musicians not to perform in Israel. He intends to discuss this project with Steven Van Zandt, the guitarist in Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, who assembled many well-known musicians to record Sun City, a protest song against apartheid in South Africa during the 1980s.
Waters spoke to The Electronic Intifada’s David Cronin.

How About
Harmlessly passing your time in the grassland away
Only dimly aware of a certain unease in the air
You better watch out
There may be dogs about
I've looked over Jordan and I have seen
Things are not what they seem.

Do the bad guys
in the Israeli government like rock concerts? What's the point?

Maybe if our politicians
Maybe if our politicians started boycotting Israel it would make a big difference - they seem to go over there every chance they get, either on our tax dollars or free 'gifts' from Israel.
Maybe a letter writing campaign. Maybe link them to the racist and religious bigotry of Israel if they keep going.
Face it, a prolonged word of mouth campaign against the racist and religious bigotry of Israel - which is fyi as much against Christianity as Muslims would have an effect - a lot of the voting population in the United States are Christians.
Can any politician really stand up to being linked to that. Yes! I'm going to bring this home to you!
And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor.
Its not about the "bad guys".
Its about world wide public opinion that will squash them like the cock roaches they are.
its 'cos I owe ya, my young friend...

So you can unsquash people.

Bump
Ralph, I posted Waters' U.N address a while back when it happened. (I think I found a youtube for it, and it may be on the P.Au.L account, might even be on mine, but I don't remember)
Didn't seem to get much interest then, but I thought it was a pretty cool U.N drilling by Roger Waters.
