What think ye of Dr. Ben Carson?

He's a doctor who pulled himself up by his own bootstraps from difficult circumstances.

He's a Seventh Day Adventist, so he's no fan boy of government and comes with a strong pacifist ideology.

He humiliated Obama criticizing his Health care initiative. Since he is a respected physician, his opinion carries weight.

He says churches are better mechanisms for taking care of the poor than government.

The only problem I have is his 10% bible tithe tax solution. Not bad, but I think even that is too much.

He endorsed Rand Paul on the Hannity show:

A man of a few good words, i

A man of a few good words, i am awaiting the man of a good few actions

But if he supports the wars, as others here have eluded, then i will not embrace him, nor support the MAN, but i may listen, and agree with him, on other subjects, which i have already done so, but the war thing will be constantly going through my mind, a tarnish to his character.

I believe war is an extreme last resort, and only in self defence of ones country, just as an attack on an individual, gives that individual the right to defend themselves.......if that is not of your opinion, what then? People should just allow themselves to be killed with no ressistance, because rights are stupid?

Why Do We Need A President At All?

That's just part of a control tool for the elite.

If He's a Seventh-day Adventist.....

Perhaps he should take a look at what highly respected prophetess Ellen White spoke.

“The Declaration of Independence sets forth the great truth that “all men are created equal,” and endowed with the inalienable right to “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” And the Constitution guarantees to the people the right of self-government, providing that representatives elected by the popular vote shall enact and administer the laws. Freedom of religious faith was also granted, every man being permitted to worship God according to the dictates of his conscience. Republicanism and Protestantism became the fundamental principles of the nation. These principles are the secret of its power and prosperity. The oppressed and down-trodden throughout Christendom have turned to this land with interest and hope. Millions have sought its shores, and the United States has risen to a place among the most powerful nations of the earth.” {Ellen White Great Controversy 1888 page 441}

She also seemed to prophecy about coming judgments on America because of a rejection of the constitution similar to what happened in the dark ages.

“When Protestantism shall stretch her hand across the gulf to grasp the hand of the Roman power, when she shall reach over the abyss to clasp hands with spiritualism, when, under the influence of this threefold union, our country shall repudiate every principle of its Constitution as a Protestant and republican government, and shall make provision for the propagation of papal falsehoods and delusions, then we may know that the time has come for the marvelous working of Satan and that the end is near.”{Ellen White Maranatha page 190}

And furthermore she seemed to prophecy of Ron Paul :)

“While many of our rulers are active agents of Satan, God also has his agents among the leading men of the nation. The enemy moves upon his servants to propose measures that would greatly impede the work of God; but statesmen who fear the Lord are influenced by holy angels to oppose such propositions with unanswerable arguments. Thus a few men will hold in check a powerful current of evil. The opposition of the enemies of truth will be restrained that the third angel’s message may do its work. When the final warning shall be given, it will arrest the attention of these leading men through whom the Lord is now working, and some of them will accept it, and will stand with the people of God through the time of trouble.” {Great Controversy 1888 610}

my goodness--

I have SDA family members, and I didn't know all that!

it's hard to be awake; it's easier to dream--

She certainly understood that America was a Republic.

Seems that she also understood the constitution as being the secret to America's prosperity.

Thumbs DOWN

just another fraud the media is trying to shove down your throat.

What I know

He came out of nowhere and gave a speech that cut down Soetoro.

Then all of a sudden he is backed by the corporate media which DOES NOT happen unless there is a hidden agenda.

He's being asked by the MSM if he's going to run for President.

These things just don't happen without a reason.

All I know about his beleifs in The Constitution is he beleives The Second Amendment CAN be infringed.

So far after everything I have seen he must be just another liberal neocon put in place to gain our trust.

Does anyone know his views on

Does anyone know his views on foreign policy? That is the deal breaker, or deal maker, for me.

I don't trust anybody

Easy to say what people want to hear. My question is how did he get an invitation and a speaking platform at "The Breakfast"? And now a run at the White House?

We are in another war for our Independence.

He doesn't believe we have a right to own assault weapons in large cities. I appreciate where he stands with us, but let's not try to fool ourselves by trying to push him to run for president under a liberty banner. Maybe if you can change his mind... but I'm not holding my breath.

"No physical quantity explains it's own existence, and no amount of time can consume an infinite series of events to bring you to the present, which means all of these somewhere have to be explained by one self-existent cause which is not physical."

Great personal story, but he and his ego are riding high on the FOX News crowd love. I don't see him doing much good except for going on talk shows and being a pundit,

Spot on some things

Off base on others.

Needing engineers and the like in office rather than politicians & Lawyers, or even worse, both. Spot on.

No full rights to firearms in cities. Off base.

Political Correctness is a means of Speech Control and damaging to solving problems.(stick & stones comes to mind) Spot on.

The list goes on, but as Hayek advises, focus on the good ideas and bad ideas separately and focus on the goal often.

I kind of hope he does become president

In the event that an anti-war, anti-federal reserve and pro-civil liberties person has a real shot to become president, i hope they do become president any day.

Now i don't know a lot about Ben and he may well be that person, but i personally doubt that.

Even with that in mind i still hope he does and my reason is based on how he could influence Christianity in western society.

At this point in time, Christianity is very much being intellectually persecuted where in order to be smart, you must abandon any form of spirituality, ESPECIALLY Christianity. In Australia, the mere mention of God existing at the university gathers chuckles throughout the lecture theatre. And here in Australia, we have the most irreligious youth in the world and i see America's youth on that path and this is very concerning given the USA's influence on pop culture, western society and the western world.

With that context in mind, Ben is an extremely intelligent person whose faith is central to his lifestyle (at least in speech). One can see just how easily he would appeal to independents based on what he calls 'common sense' solutions and i think if he were to become president, Christianity and conservatism could be redinfed in a much more positive light compared to how those in the media and universities have framed it.

I'm not impressed

I'm not impressed with Dr Carson. If he is as intelligent as he is being made out to be, then he is purposely distracting us from the main issues at the root of our problems, like the fed. He never mentioned the fed, even in theory, instead he's pushing a fair tax and he talks big military. He's invoking God, not to highlight his position's congruence with scripture, but instead simply to achieve emotional bias which helps to place his presentation beyond the rational part of the audiences mind so they don't think critically about his message. In general I just find him vague, uninspiring, and his message does not seem to be grounded in a solid philosophy. He even praised the Rockefeller's, Ford's, and Carnegie's by name in his speech at CPAC as the pinnacle examples of what is good about America! (http://bit.ly/Ymbo62) I mean if the other things I mentioned are red flags, this one ought to be a big red flashing siren!

I think he's a shill to be honest. I might be wrong, but his message feels manufactured to me, particularly the flat tax he is pushing. My tinfoil hat is also suspect of 30 minute speeches at prayer breakfasts that are really not all that impressive and all of the sudden go "viral". I think promoted or pushed is a better term than viral. As far as powerful speeches at prayer breakfasts go, Eric Metaxas' speech was much more powerful (http://youtu.be/jotOExbddI4), however it is not going viral, because he is not being pushed as the conservative Obama, oh and also because it is a 30 minute speech at a prayer breakfast.

Having interaction with many specialized MD's in my profession, I also have about a 90% certainty that this guy is an egomaniac bordering on psychopathy, you almost have to be in order to numb yourself to the natural empathetic impulses that would scare the crap out of most people if they attempted to cut into the skull and brain on another human being, even if you knew what you were doing.

I'm not knocking these specialized professions per se, but I do realize that it takes a special kind of person to be able to put someone else's life in your hands like that, and unfortunately that "special" may have it's roots in a psychopathic inability to empathize with the patient. That may be a great and necessary trait for a brain surgeon, but probably not so good for a statesman.

I'd just be careful about anyone that a typical neocon gets excited about, remember they are mainly responding to their own mental preconditioning that triggers on emotionally charged key words in his presentation. I use the excitement level of typical neocons as a propaganda detector, it generally works pretty good.

I like the fact that he was in Obama's face at that dinner.

I don't like his selective application of the 2nd Amendment in rural versus urban locations. He needs to run for Congress or Senate to gain experience with running a campaign and later functioning in an elected office. He should absolutely NOT run for president in 2016, IMO.

I Think...

...that he is one of the most insidious and dangerous types of collectivist...one who would infringe upon the most fundamental and important of liberties, the RKBA.

He 'talks' about other things in a 'reasoned manner' that seems to blind many to the glimpse he has provided of who he really is.

I will pass.

For me, I simply see him as another in a huge nest of collectivist-gerbils who are busily gnawing away at the very foundation of Liberty, albeit he is a charismatic gerbil saying many things people thirst for.

Ben Carson believes in Gun Control...

I like many of his ideas, but since he's missing the point on the 2nd. amendment, I'd never support him for any office.

Mix a little poison in with a good dinner and you still die.

From what I've seen, I like him

But so far, I've only watched about an hour of video of him speaking.

Which - BTW - is more than I knew about Ron Paul when I started this site! I heard one 20 minute podcast, and read a few articles and that was it.

But I had a feeling & an intuition, and I have a similar feeling about Carson - that he is someone who could actually unite the country. He's not a politician, which works in his favor. As long as he keep speaking his mind, I'll keep listening. As far as a uniter, he's head and shoulders above Rand.

But it will be hard for him to navigate getting the GOP nomination - if that is what he's going for. The road is filled with landmines on the way to that ring. There is a thread floating around here about how he told Glenn Beck "you don't have a right to a semi automatic weapon in a big city." And that will be a deal breaker for a lot of the people who vote in GOP primaries, though he might be able to talk his way out of it, if people will listen beyond the headlines. Especially if we have a few more mass killings in the cities with the big-clip semis. And isn't that inevitable.

The main thing that he's got going for him, that none of the Rubios or the Rands or the Ryans have, is that he's inspiring. He's not one of those snaky, calculating, opportunistic politicians.

Anyway, 2016 is a long way away, but he's worth keeping an eye on.

He's personable and inteligent

He's a great speaker, very good looking, credentialed and retired.. looking for a second career as a messager for the Indy Nation?

He's is canned for the Independents, who have no political representation.. Indy's vote for whoever those that have represenation put on the ballots (corrupt or not).

So Carson will spoil the right and left, and I figure there will be a draft BC, and like RP, he will become the reluctant candidate with a great message, but no one in place to materialize it.

I think you underestimate Rand.

Some people think he thinks logically and has courage. Those are unifying characteristics.
