14 Members of Congress Demand Investigation of Obama's Ammo Horde

Congressman Asks if DHS Bullet Buys Aimed at Restricting Ammo

Paul Joseph Watson | Infowars.com | March 22, 2013

Californian Congressman Doug LaMalfa and 14 of his House peers have written a letter to the Department of Homeland Security demanding to know why the federal agency is buying so many rounds of ammunition and whether the purchases are part of a deliberate attempt to restrict supply to the American people.

The DHS has committed to purchasing around 2 billion rounds of ammunition over the course of the last year. Many believe the purchases are exacerbating bullet shortages across the country, supplies already strained by record sales prompted as a result of the Obama administration’s gun control agenda.

You will see new suppliers as a result of these shortages

In the end we will have surplus AMMO coming out of our ears if Obama keeps this up.

When Rand Paul becomes President it will all be sold back to the public at deep discounts.

It is actually a good thing in some ways because it has put us on alert too, and it is not impossible to buy.

It would be nice if a hollow point round

It would be nice if a hollow point round costs ten cents.

Nice letter. The republicans

Nice letter. The republicans want to keep the championship football.

I hope a Democrat doesn't

I hope a Democrat doesn't take to floor of the Senate in a filibusterer on this issue demanding answers. They could take back the Civil Liberties championship football from Rand Paul.

the government states we are crazy..

for hoarding? yet that same government acts like we do? bunch of hypocrites!

Hoarding is my middle name.

That's it?

First of all, only 14 representatives questioning this is highly underwhelming.

Second, what about the fully automatics and weapons contracts with Sig and HK?

Third, what about the armored personnel vehicles?

Focus on The Bullets, For Now

Price fixing of goods is illegal for DHS. Those responsible can be criminally charged. Remember, that ammo is expensive, and management at DHS has access now to 1,600 million rounds.

I'll tell you what's been going through their bureaucrat pea-brains. "Gee, would anybody really miss just 1 million of those rounds"? You know the temptation exists for them to create a "retirement fund" by selling rounds back to the public. Follow the money.

Good replies deserve thier own bumps

Did you mean to say 1.6 Billion rounds......Fill in you own anti-statist comment here.

I Did

I didn't mean to, I actually did. 1,600 million = 1.6 billion. I did so to put it into perspective, 1 million rounds might go unnoticed when there are 1,600 of them available.

The bigger point is this. If congress can't even get DHS to admit the purchase happened, then that should raise alarms. If price-fixing is happening, then you can be certain that DHS bureaucrats have the opportunity to line their pockets. Do you have any confidence that Eric Holder will investigate? I don't.

How's that sequestration workin for ya?

I got it....the Feds have bought all the ammo they have to corner the market and drive up prices. They are getting ready to dump the ammo back onto the market and make a killing from the inflated prices to help alleviate the deficit, he said as he was looking out of the rabbit hole.

There are no politicians or bankers in foxholes.

Not To Reduce The Deficit

I'm talking about corruption, these guys could be enriching themselves at the expense of the market. Buy up supply with taxpayer money, then sell some back and keep all the profit. They could claim DHS used it for target practice, and retire to the Bahamas. Its always about money, why do you think they won't respond to congress?

Not too bad

I just hope you're right about dumping the ammo back into the market...

If you don't know your rights, you don't have any.

Only 14?

There are 535 of those a-holes up there on the Hill. Only 14 want to know why the government just added 3 bullets for every American citizen to the already-huge cache of weapons, ammo, and equipment that's being used to squeeze every last penny out of us and squash dissent? Disgusting!

What a whimp!

Why don't they ever ask the REAL questions?

"Tzarina Napolitano, aren't you buying all that amunition to use against the American people?"

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.

Amen! Of course they are

Amen! Of course they are going to say "for practice" but with all this anti-gun crap being spouted I don't want to take any chances. Besides, why should the DHS or police for that matter have full-auto guns? It's not like we can own them ;-)

by the way

hollow points aren't used for practice

Normal people with normal budgets

don't practice with hollow points. We're talking the Federal Government here. Of course they practice with unnecessarily expensive ammunition. Still doesn't explain the massive volume of ammo purchased, but I have no doubt they practice with hollow points.
