and Dr. Paul does not have enough votes to win.

Then he could recomend his delegates go to one of the other candidates. Would you go with his recomendation?

I think I might because he knows the others a lot better than I do. I am sure he talks to them as they go state to state.

If Republican Partisans insist on a Hillary Presidency and Nominate McKeynes, Elmer, or Slick Willard, then I will most likely return to the Libertarian Party or go with the Constitution Party. If Dr Paul is the nominee of one or both of those parties, then great! If not, then, so be it.

After the first (or second) round of voting, the delegates are up for grabs. Just because someone is bound to their candidate going into the voting does not mean they will continue to vote for him. When push comes to shove, there are some people who will never vote for Romney, there are some who will never vote for McCain, and if the Ron Paul supporters hold their ground to the very end, those who are willing to shop around will come to his camp if they really understand what his vision of America is. This is one reason why we need to be very careful not to alienate people. Even in states where the voting has already occurred, there is a lot of time for attitudes and minds to change before September. Keep spreading the word person to person and who knows what America will be ready for.

As far as a VP position, it would be smart in terms of whoever is elected. It would give him insurance against assassination by those who don't want Ron Paul for President, but historically, the vice-presidency is not a position of power. There is no spotlight to further ideas or position to wield power contrary to the agenda of the President.

We will all be devestated if Dr. Paul doesn't get the nomination, but seriously guys a write in would hand this election to Hillary or Obama or both since I think they will join forces with Obama as VP. If taxes, amnesty to illegals, and big government mean anything at all to you the smart thing to do is vote for the lesser of 2 evils which would be the republican candidate. But, hopefully that won't happen and our good doc will the the nominee.

I couldn't care less who gets the nominations if Ron Paul doesn't. Frankly, there aren't any other republican or democratic candidates who will do any good for our country. Do you really believe Romney would decrease government spending or even attempt to stop illegal immigration? You're kidding yourself, and honestly, accepting the lesser of two evils is NEVER the smart thing to do.

If every Ron Paul supporter writes him in, even if he looses the election it would make a nationwide statement that the status quo is failing.

I find your suggestion defeatist and ill-advised and also premature.

If Dr. Paul doesn't get the nomination then I would recommend not voting at all. It will only further the perpetuation of the fraud we are witnessing.

I don't believe Dr. Paul would accept the second place spot as VP either. He would chafe under that lash. His morals would not allow him to do that. His integrity is way too high to be involved in something that would affirm the right wing war mongers. I just can't see him doing that.

McCain is all about McWar......Mitt might not be too bad, but it looks like the media/elitists groups are preparing McCain for the nominee. Rudy and Huck have no substance whatsoever. Huck is looking for a VP job with McCain.......but I can't support any of these clowns......and we ought to let the GOP thugs know it. If you know you're not going to win the nomination, what good does a little power brokering going to do Ron Paul.......nothing will come of it. I wish Ron Paul would find a wealthy running mate that shared his values, and declare a third party run, seat a new aggressive campaign staff, and give 'em hell. We need to get enough so that it is an issue! Then if it turns out that they only candidate that everyone can rally behind is Ron Paul...... If the powers tried to push someone that enough people are strongly opposed to---I could see that getting ugly. Americans aren't used to be told their votes don't matter.

Hmmm.... tha't be pretty tough, I'd have to think about it. I can;t see him accepting but maybe...

The real problem with that scenario is that a ticket without RP on top just couldn't beat the dems.

Also,I would probably lose some respect for the Dr. if he agreed to be a VP for any of the guys still in the race on the republican side. I don't know.I'd still be REAALY tempted to write him in.

This is actually highly likely to happen.
All the other delegates will quickly switch when they realize their candidate isn't winning in the convention. Its a very good chance that in the end we could be considered the tie breaker at 3rd place (I hope we win it all, but I'm just saying). The number 1 and number 2 will both offer Ron the VP spot for his delegates. While its not a win, having Ron as the VP, whispering into the ear of the President as well as the continued ability this would provide Ron for getting his message out. People listen to the VP when they hold a Press Conference. This could also lead to a Presidency in 4 to 8 years.

Of course we'd have to get such VP promise in contract in blood on the full moon, and they still might screw us over :)
