According to “State Of The News Media 2007” the MSM is a dying industry.
Network nightly news audience is down to 26 million
Cable nightly news audience is down to 2.5 million
Internet users is now up to 210 million
The following charts reveal the industry’s rapid decline!

Could Internet/TV and Internet/radio be RP's end run around MSM?

I agree
Internet regulation is high on the agenda for the powers that be.
So, what are the BEST internet sites for news and movies?
Thanks!
PS I get a ton of info here because of the hundreds of eyes and ears all over the country and You Tube. I don't have time for TV AND it bores me!
Many sites out there
... Raw Story is one.
THANK GOODNESS U CANT TEACH OLD DOGS NEW TRICKS
WE MUST STRIKE THE FINAL BLOW BOYCOTT ALL TV!AND ADVERTIZERS
Well they are keenly aware of the numbers
and are trying to figure out how to make the transition and control the internet. That is why you see so many references to their websites and online polls. The problem is the interenet is the great EQUALIZER and they don't like that one bit.
Thats good to see!
Just hope the Internet remains unregulated.
But what is important about this analysis
Viewership is down and trust in reporting is down.
Over 50% of broadcast journalists think the industry is going the "wrong way."
The MSM has killed itself. The gross assumption that all Americans are morons who don't know what is going on is wrong.
Folks vote with their feet and large newspapers and TV networks have fewer and fewer people using their product.
Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of folks.

It's Like With CDs
Many 30-40 year-olds still buy CDs when they should've switched to an mp3 player years ago
CDs > mp3
I like a hard copy if I'm going to buy something.
mp3 is a lossy file format. Convenient yes, good quality file format, no.
I can always rip from a CD.
Hell Yes
I agree completely. Why pay Apple, or anybody else, for a low quality file that can only be used on their hardware?
mp3 > CDs
CD's are becoming more obsolete every day. They are flawed because they require moving parts to read, and they are prone to scratches. They also have loading times, which can be inconvienent.
MP3s and other media being stored on a device or a card, rather than a CD, is the future. Movies will be on SD-sized cards, as well as music albums and video games. The Nintendo DS has already taken this route. And with a card, there is less-if-any loading time.
I'd say the main factor holding this idea back is the cost of card production vs CD's, and the storage capacity. But as technology advances, it will become cheaper and more readily available. Thus, in the near future we will be using storage cards for all media.

Older people still rely on the msm
Older people still rely on the msm. Older people still vote in higher percentages than younger people. Either younger people, who get their news elsewhere, need to vote in higher percentages, or we have to reach the older people.
Not at all surprising
Am I just weird- or are there others out there who get their news online only? I use the msm sites as a peice of the big puzzle-spending as much time on foreign news websites. Most of what i see from the msm are handpicked, commercial free videos posted on YouTube etc- I may tune in to Hannity & Colmes etal to see a specific broadcast then write down the name of the product being advertised in the 15 sec.(and try to avoid purchasing it) commercial that plays first. I have 3 Televisions- and havent turned 2 on in over a year- the 3rd is used to watch dvds...usually movies I heard about from friends and family- but i REFUSE to just let the television have its way , to just let it run. Anything I want to see can be found online- free of commercials- Im probably in the minority as most Americans watch alot of television (I confess to spending more time online than most do watching television)-and some areas simply dont have internet- but I think the cost of good computers are going down and I can see why that is a growing trend- its just a matter of time before more people than not realise that TV= crap - the networks will hopefully be a thing of the past over the next few generations and critical thinking will reign.
I have a TV and an Internet connection
in my work space and more and more go all day with out turning the TV on.
However, many RP supporters still erroneously think MSM is the doninant force in news and therefore have become obsessed with it.
Fortunately, there are a growing number of Internet TV and Internet Radio operations springing up. I wish HQ and the grassroots would focus more on this larger audience and new technology.
thanks for the stats
Interesting. I happen to really dig charts and graphs. Nice to see that the internet and other factors have declined the 'evening' news audience in half.
