Rand Paul and Ted Cruz Threaten Filibuster on Guns

Sens. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz and Mike Lee are threatening to filibuster gun-control legislation, according to a letter they plan to hand-deliver to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s office on Tuesday.

“We will oppose the motion to proceed to any legislation that will serve as a vehicle for any additional gun restrictions,” the three conservatives wrote in a copy of the signed letter obtained by POLITICO.

Here's Rand, Cruz, Lee's signed letter putting Reid on Notice:

The actual PDF of the letter sent to Reid by the 3 Senate Young Guns: http://www.washingtonpost.com/r/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/201...

And, check out and compare their signatures; what they say about doctor's signatures? Well, Rand's got one! LOL.

humble moi, as a handwriting analysis enthusiast of sorts, compared to Ron's, Rand's is a bit terse, and brisk. Ron's 'rounds' are wider, more inviting, but assertive, as is Rand's.

Mike Lee's got a very elegant curve, signifying an eye for detail and patience.

Cruz's is the most abrupt, and to the point. Kinda like, get it done. The wide curves denotes breadth of interest in topics, but his sharp 'snap' in the curve says, 'I'm open minded, but will bite ya, if you mess with me.'

LOL, it's all speculative. But, always been a good judge of character. All in good fun.

But gotta love the succinctness of the letter. I LOVE it!

Here's what they sent traitor Reid (bold italicized emphasis added by me):

March 22, 2013

Dear Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid,

We, the undersigned, intend to oppose any legislation that would infringe on the American people's constitutional right to bear arms, or on their ability to exercise this right without being subjected to government surveillance.

The Second Amendment to the Constitution protects citizens' right to self-defense. It speaks to history's lesson that government cannot be in all places at all times, and history's warning about the oppression of a government that tries.

We will oppose the motion to proceed to any legislation that will serve as a vehicle for any additional gun restrictions.

Of course, predictably I'd assume Piers MORON would be having conniptions, and go apoplectic on tonight's broadcast (is he still on with 5000 audience per night on prime time? don't watch, don't care).

Also, just my take, I have a feeling that Piers may actually be either MI5 or MI6. Remember when the asshole was down in Katy, TX? Well, for a gun-neophyte, I was quite astounded by the level of trigger-reset adeptness he had with the AR he was allowed to shoot by the owner of Tactical Firearms, Jeremy Alcede: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A7UvGEx-WSA

As far as I can see on the video, rarely did he 'slap the trigger' as most noobs are known to do, when attempting rapid fire; their trigger finger constantly leaves the surface of the trigger. Piers did not. It's clear he did not shoot guns just once or twice for a TV/paper segment he did on the UK army.

Plus, I cannot imagine any other Briton being able to dodge a huge scandal as the phonehacking charges that put all other major players already behind bars in the UK. Well, this Orwellian UK RedCoat POS propagandist whom CNN is apparently fulfilling its traditional role of routinely hiring criminal politicos, is literally Scot[land Yard]-Free!

but here are MSDNC primates going ape over the filibuster warning:

Great post,

I should see what you think of my signature. I love the letters succinctness, but how disturbing is the MSM's response in your last video. Sheesh. And interesting analysis of Piers, will be thinking about that.

should take a snapshot & post it, I'll tell ya; it'd by like astrology or palm reading without the 's/he loves me, s/he loves me not' anticipatory consequences. lol.

I'll always say you have a destiny. Hey, don't we all... for something and anything? .o)

Stand With Rand

Hopefully this will unite the GOP base behind us. If you guys saw Ted Cruz's smack down with the senator form my state, Dianne Feinstein, then you should know how tough Cruz is. All I know is, I stand with Rand

"Threaten" ?

How can you threaten someone when you have no power against them? Rand filibustered the Brennan appointment and...Brennan still got appointed.

I like when he filibusters, it makes a point, but I wouldn't call it a "threat." That's like wishful thinking: AS IF he could do anything to stop or punish them. Even if he elicits a firestorm of phone calls to Senators...the Senators won't listen...they never do.

Doesn't anyone see what a sham Congress is?

You need 41 senators to

You need 41 senators to sustain a filibuster. Rand didn't have that many on the Brennan nomination. Probable does on a gun bill.

It Helps to Wake People Up

No- it won't result in a sudden reversal of the target legislation, but it WILL open people's eyes.

Yes, it got a lot of press!

He didn't filibuster in opposition to Brennan; in fact, he voted in favor of Brennan... it was about the use of drones on Americans on American soil..

but you are right; I would not consider it a threat... I hope they do it though!

You think so?

I guess there is no way of knowing for sure; generally speaking I believe Congress does not listen to people. How many people called their Reps to beg them not to pass the bailouts?

My Reps have never, not once, voted as I requested. Not once.

Those of you with sentient Reps, I thank you for trying to make a difference. For me, it's a waste of time.

D vs R, D vs R, D vs R...

Reading the comments under that article is so sad... almost everyone is arguing Democrats versus Republicans, over and over and over again. How do we get more people to focus on the issues (and critically thinking about the issues) instead of viewing everything as a left= vs right?

By posting comments yourself:

Help them see the light. You'll never know how many people you've helped wake up, but rest assured that people will start questioning. Even if you help wake one person up, you never know if THAT particular person may end up doing great things for this movement. Think of the butterfly effect and don't stop spreading the word. Be relentless like Dr. Paul was for over 30 years. Look how far that got him.

"Speak up, speak often and don't worry about those that at this point cannot understand, as they can never un-hear what we tell them."
-Ron Paul

Bandwagon effect

As the filibuster ensues, I would love to see my senators join the three, I would expect Sen Thune to do so, however Senator Johnson will take some encouragement. It will be a test of loyalty, either to money and the PTB, or the people. Better choose carefully, senators.

Grayson would if he could, but he can't.

Only Senators can filibuster. Imagine Ron Paul filibustering, but it's not allowed in the House. Just an FYI.

Yeah, but he can make noise.

Yeah, but he can make noise.

I hope they do...

I just hope they don't let the White House re-frame the debate, like what happened with Holder's response to the drone filibuster.
