Law would fire sheriffs for defying gun control measures.

Supporters of the 380 sheriffs in 15 states who so far have vowed to defy new state and federal gun control laws claim that legislation is starting to pop up around the nation to fire any state elected or appointed law enforcement official who doesn't obey federal orders.

I Wish They'd Try It

That's one way to unite all Sheriffs, everywhere, and the voters who elected them. Such a law would be as popular as disenfranchising all delegates to the GOP.

Well, besides the fact that

Well, besides the fact that you can't fire an *elected* official, as opposed to an appointed police chief - which is why elected sheriffs are so important to our Republic - are the following facts:

1) They take an oath to follow the constitution as the highest law in the land, any State laws to the contrary not withstanding. The 2nd amendment is part of the constitution, and these laws are invalid. In fact other laws would make following them a felony - civil rights violations and color of law.

2) You can try to claim a sheriff is fired, but the sheriff can arrest your ass. And the posse that is with him will make sure it happens.

Man, I wish our sheriff was a little younger.

Have You Talked to Him?

Have you talked to your sheriff (him or her)?

Sometimes older folks have more courage, not less. Sometimes they have more courage than they've ever had in their lives, before. They're not courageous like immortal teen-age boys, but see a chance to right past wrongs or leave a legacy.

Not saying he isn't a good guy, but I'm envisioning a classic western here, lol :)

Anyway, I don't think we've even reached anywhere near the support that sheriffs would give if push came to shove, or if this goes on. These are just the early movers we're hearing from here.

Im glad we live in a world were governments have no need to show proof of what they speak, would be to difficult to lie otherwise, if someone were so inclined

No free speech for patriots

What a concept!

Firing elected officials upholding the constitutional rights of the constituents is their answer?

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

Target and fire the other guys and gals IMO...and soon.

Firing someone for following

Firing someone for following the edit:*constitutional* laws

"Damned if you do, damned if you dont"

I wonder if we can fire Obama?!!

He hasn't been following any federal laws...ever!

-Undeclared wars
-Growing and distributing heroine in and from Afghanistan
-Using ATF to arm drug cartels (Fast & Furious)
-Using DHS for unwarranted searches and seizures

...the list goes on and on.

presidential oath

I wonder if letting thousands of jailed illegal aliens out of jail and loose on the US population constitutes an impeachable offense since some were guilty of crimes. No one has done that to the United States since Castro emptied his prisons and mental institutions of between 7,500 and 22,000 inmates during the Muriel boat lift.

The oath to be taken by presidents:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States."

Today, in opposite

Today, in opposite world......

Sorry, but unconstitutional

Sorry, but unconstitutional "laws" arn't laws.
Fuck em.

Wanna get a bad cop

Wanna get a bad cop fired?

Easy!

Accuse him of following the constitution, otherwise

goodluck getting bad cops fired, unless he turns good, then your good to go, which.....kinda defeats the purpose

Following my logic?

why would there be a need

for a law to fire a sheriff, when they work for the people?
they are after all hired and fired by us,so we have the final say

Who has authority

to fire the Sheriff? For what cause?

As far as I know,

the only official that can arrest a Sheriff is the Coroner. I don't know about firing the Sheriff though.

I was told the only person

I was told the only person who could arrest a Sheriff was a Constable! But I dunno

It's an odd part of our common law, but you can look up old sheriff manuals online through goggle books. I have a couple of them dating to 1830 or so, and things haven't changed that much.

yeah,after i asked that question

I decided to take my own advice
and look myself
what i found on one site,( a cop forum)stated that any law enforcement
states, city ect ect could arrest them) I don't think i believe that one though, seeing sheriffs are appointed and above all other agencies
anyways, thanks for your input, gives me more for my own arsenal
of knowledge
