Rand Paul Endorses Mitch McConnell in 2014 Senate Race, Won't Back Tea Party Challenge

Patrick Howley | March 27, 2013 | Daily Caller

The Daily Caller has learned that Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul is endorsing Sen. Mitch McConnell for re-election in 2014, ending speculation that Paul would back a tea party challenge to the Senate minority leader.

“Rand Paul has endorsed McConnell,” Jesse Benton, McConnell’s 2014 campaign manager, told The Daily Caller.

Benton, who has worked for both Rand Paul and his father, former Texas Rep. Ron Paul, is credited by insiders with brokering Paul’s support for McConnell.

I'm accusing Rand...

of being EXACTLY what he is saying he is with own mouth:

1) that he is a "realist" with regards to a global military capability to overwhelmingly strike "radical islam" as needed anywhere on the earth and that "radical islam" is our main enemy and will be for generations and perhaps centuries to come (see Rand's Heritage Foundation speech), In other words the empire will NOT be disassembled, just made more reasonable and compassionate (yeah right).

2) that he wants to pay down the interest on the debt. The very same debt that Ron says is fraudulent, mathematically untenable to pay back, and that MUST be written off and replaced with sound money. (paying of the interest on the debt assumes the fiat money will NOT be replaced and the Govt will retain the ability to finance wars with the stroke of a pen).

3) that, to the delight of zionists and neocons, Rand believe Israel is our #1 best ally and that aid should be reduced to Israel slower than other countries.

Go ahead and question my character. I believe in brutal honesty and a bold telling of the message of Liberty, Peace and Sound Money no matter how "kooky" the status quo and neocons yell it is.

You on the other hand are supporting a "tactic" of lies and deception to gain a political office. Be careful. You might get what you want! You may end up with a real "realist" zionist neocon who has no intention of disassembling the empire or replacing the current fiat money with sound money...

Either you believe in the political hopes of libertarianism or you don't.

If you don't then just stop wasting your time with the negativity, go back to doing whatever it is you think is best for mankind.

If you do, then you'd better present a better alternative to the best shot we've had since, well... Ron Paul himself.

And if you can do better than Rand, or Ron, or Justin, then go ahead, do it. Run for office.

Thanks for being understanding and non judgmental, rational, and free-thinking.

You rand haters remind me of

You rand haters remind me of the mob that killed Plato after he defended the generals against the mob when they were unable to save the fleet from a very nasty storm.

1. Lame and untrue. He's not a neocon or zionist just because he believes like his father, that radical islam is dangerous. Remember which of the two were in a position to vote for the authorization of force... and did. It wasn't Rand.

2. You twist things as usual, like the mob in greece again. He said that in response to people who said we must default or raise the debt ceiling. He was showing the false choice. You're just false.

3. Hey guess what... just like his father, again.

Too bad you're just a reactionary who's a libertarian to be different and not because you actually know what's going on. :/

The other choice is that you are intelligent but a liar. I don't think you're either though. I think you just so old that libertarian was counter culture when you were in your 20's and that's the only reason you are libertarian. Now that Rand is making it 'cool' and mainstream, you're pissed.

Nay sayers?

Those who still support Rand Paul are nothing more than witless, gutless followers. Aren't you peons sick of being betrayed? Of course not, you forsook your principles a long time ago. In attempting to take over the GOP, you've become them.

"He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you."

If this website represents the best of the Americans, then this country is doomed.

I guess we are just witless, then!

And, as they watch

The plan completes!

Divided we fall!

...dead nuts on.

the only way I will view this as a good thing is if

McConnell votes nay on every pro war bill from this point on and recants his pro war votes of the past.

Something tells me we are going to be disappointed by this decision.

Rand has such a bright future...

He knows how to play the game of supporting other party members even when they are pro-war big govt status quo and he knows how to make neocons and zionists think he might agree with them.

Yay. I feel so inspired. The Revolution exhibits so much clarity of message and inspiration now. I could just jump up and cheer any moment now... or something. Rand is awakening so many new people. Yay. :|

~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

lol poor you, Rand isn't

lol poor you, Rand isn't doing all your work for you.

He's not in the 'awakening' business. That's your job, grassroots dude. He's a US Senator. His job is to move the debate in our direction (which he's been wildly successful at) and to be president in 2016, something you have no hope in Hell of ever doing. That's why need him to be him, and you to be you.

And just like...

the typical current Rand supporter you've developed a martyr complex around making excuses for supporting the status quo and shaming others who object to the neocon and zionist messages.

You're such a hero...

~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

is shaming who? Rand is definitely not the status quo.

Any and every time....

someone on Daily Paul voices concern over Rand doing things like:

1) saying things that delight neocons
2) saying things that delight zionists
3) saying the plan for fiscal reform is to first pay off interest on the debt... the very same debt Ron says is fraudulent and impossible to pay back and that we must default on
4) Rand's SILENCE on sound money
5) his speeches at the Heritage Foundation that make him sound like a flaming neocon -- "radical islam is our eternal enemy", "we must stay globally alert against radical islam and balance rapid devestating military strikes with diplomacy", yada yada yada

Any and every time someone objects to Rand saying and doing things like that there is a goon squad on Daily Paul that rushes in and declares how such persons are ignorant and evil and too stupid to figure out Rand is just telling lies then once he gets elected president he will rip off his business suit revealing his Libertarian Man outfit. And yammering on how about Ron was unreasonable (codeword for "kook"). Whatever.

Speak the truth loudly and boldly so people's heart's can be won over with character and honesty. Winning the presidency without winning the hearts and minds of the people is a fools errand. Screw the political games. Screw the "secret plans". And screw Rand's goon squad here on Daily Paul. Keep your damn lies and tricks. I don't want them. They make me sick. :|

Rand and Ron have both alluded to the fact, even before Rand's election, that Ron and Rand have had long time very strong political philosophy disagreements. And I'm convinced that the difference is that Rand TRULY DOES believe in zionism and in maintaining our empire for "realist" reasons (neocon).

We get irritated at how short

We get irritated at how short sighted you are.

If he weren't doing some of those things, he'd be back in scrubs in no time and no where near the White House.

The other things are just fallacies that those of you with propensities to twist info can't seem to get past. Such as his 'silence' on sound money.

"One of my first actions in the U.S. Senate was to introduce legislation allowing for a full audit of the Federal Reserve. This legislation, S. 202 The Federal Reserve Transparency Act of 2011, is a Senate version of similar legislation long-championed by and introduced this session in the House of Representatives by my father, Congressman Ron Paul of Texas."

And lets not get to the fact that most of you think everything more interventionist than a bunker constitutes neoconservatism. I wish someone would post a sticky on the front page that explains to you all what is and what is not neoconservatism.

You morons don't seem to get that the actual neocons are his biggest enemy. Bill Kristol, neocon numero uno, can't stand Rand.

You be you

We need you to be you someplace else. You apologists are not worth the weight in the crap you spill. Go and support benton and mconnell someplace else.
This Going along to get along is why the senate is where it is at to begin with so take your tried and true political methods someplace else.

I shall be watching for your two faced posting Rhysw...

I almost don't have the

I almost don't have the energy to give you a good two faced posting. I'm becoming convinced that many of the 'free thinking, intelligent, awakened' people here are just as lulled to sleep by their 'alternative media' gods that they're in as bad a need of intervention as the MSM junkies.

The day I've been told to go someplace else for supporting the leading politician engaged in advancing liberty on the Daily Paul is the day I've finally admitted it. Ron Paul's supports aren't necessarily any brighter than the rest of the crowd. Some of us are, some of us just want to be different.

~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

and good luck to you going

and good luck to you going your route. What exactly is your plan again?

A nation of sheep breeds a government of wolves.

My plan...

is the same as the past 30 years. To speak truth to power as my heart sees it with the goal of achieving a critical mass of awakening the hearts and minds of people to the message of individualism and liberty at the grassroots level that cannot be stopped (just like Ron Paul said is absolutely necessary).

I know. I know. You think honesty and character is weak and stupid and that only political trickery and deception can ever work. We just disagree. Vehemently.

Good luck with your plan of lies and deception and trickery...

~wobbles but doesn't fall down~

How many years of Libertarian

How many years of Libertarian fail and counting? Maybe it's generational in that I honestly don't want to repeat your 30 years. I'd rather have mostly won in 30 years time.

After Rand endorsed Romney I

After Rand endorsed Romney I don't give any credit to his endorsement. Not that I wouldn't possibly support someone Rand endorses. I don't trust Rand's judgement when it comes to picking candidates. Anyone who would support someone other than Ron Paul when Ron Paul is in a race isn't someone I will take advice from.

On the other hand I will just about blindly support anyone Ron Paul endorses.

So don't expect much in 2016

We're likely going to get another run-of-the-mill Republican (ditto for Democrats). Rand is clearly deciding to play the inside game for now, which is a loss.

McConnell has been one of his best allies. Rand would be beyond stupid to support a challenger at this time.

One thing for sure is Rand

One thing for sure is Rand Paul is no Ron Paul!

Cause McConnell never cared

Cause McConnell never cared if Ron endorsed him?

McCain wanted Ron Paul's endorsement...

...and so did Romney...and Bob Barr.

No, because Ron Paul never

No, because Ron Paul never compromised for political gain!

Yea he did

Ron endorsed Lamar Smith and other NeoCons in Texas for political gain. The Republican Party struck a deal with Ron Paul to let him stay as a republican but he had to promise not to back primary challengers against Texas Incumants. Which Ron agreed

And how did he gain???

Maybe, but sometimes he would

Maybe, but sometimes he would to avoid political damage, like when he endorsed Bohner or any number of dozens of 'neocons' that he's endorsed over the years.

Adams admitted that Paul’s

Adams admitted that Paul’s endorsement of McConnell will not hurt Paul with his tea party base, but said it will rather reflect poorly on McConnell for trying to ingratiate himself with the tea party element through Paul.

“Among people here in Kentucky, it’s not a major concern. Rand has built up a lot of goodwill with voters in Kentucky who are not McConnell fans at all, so they see this as a McConnell effort to try to ingratiate himself with Rand supporters. It will hurt McConnell, if anything,” Adams said.
