U.S. says it sent B-2 stealth bombers over South Korea UPDATE

UPDATE: At 6:40 PM ET, CBS news reported Kim has given orders to rocket and missile commanders to fire on US targets, in retaliation for our B-2 flights into South Korea.

By Jethro Mullen, CNN | Thu March 28, 2013

(CNN) -- The United States said Thursday it sent stealth bombers to South Korea to participate in annual military exercises amid spiking tensions with North Korea.

The B-2 Spirit bombers flew more than 6,500 miles from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri to South Korea, dropping inert munitions there as part of the exercises, before returning to the U.S. mainland, the U.S Forces in Korea said in a statement.

The mission by the planes, which can carry both conventional and nuclear weapons, "demonstrates the United States' ability to conduct long range, precision strikes quickly and at will," the statement said.

[This is one of the most dangerously provocative acts this country could commit. The only thing more dangerous would be to use WMDs on North Korea, as "collateral damage" will surely occur in Russia and China. Take a look at a map of North Asia, if you doubt my judgement.

Besides, we have only 21 of the aircraft. Russia and China have both demonstrated stealth fighters; the Russian aircraft, in particular, has been reported to a be a match for the F-22.]

I don't know why the media is

I don't know why the media is making this such a big deal. I'm in S Korea, my husband is a contractor with the military. There is an annual exercise going on here. They do this EVERY YEAR. It's not a big deal. The media is just pushing fear.

What a boring...

job that must be. I mean, sitting in a plane for hours on end, just to do something for a couple minutes, then go all the way back again. I would hate to be the guys flying the bombers.

North Korea scares me

North Korea is like a big concentration camp run by crazy people that have nuclear weapons. not good.

We sure know how to pick a fight.

We really shouldn't feed North Korea's narrative.
Be peaceful, praise their yearly games/performance, open trade, send televisions, laptops, and the internet. Their people will eventually figure out the truth.

My 2 cents.

About 2 weeks ago it was B-52s over N. Korea.

Why do we want war so badly when we already have so many? [rhetorical question]
