Americans Leaving Blue States for Red; New York Least Freest State of All

By John Merline | Investor's Business Daily | March 28, 2013

Americans are migrating from less-free liberal states to more-free conservative states, where they are doing better economically, according to a new study published Thursday by the George Mason University's Mercatus Center.

The "Freedom in the 50 States" study measured economic and personal freedom using a wide range of criteria, including tax rates, government spending and debt, regulatory burdens, and state laws covering land use, union organizing, gun control, education choice and more.

It found that the freest states tended to be conservative "red" states, while the least free were liberal "blue" states.

The freest state overall, the researchers concluded, was

North Dakota, followed by South Dakota, Tennessee, New Hampshire and Oklahoma. The least free state by far was New York, followed by California, New Jersey, Hawaii and Rhode Island.

Anyone still voting

is wasting their time, money and efforts supporting these political candidates. It's time to become IGNORANT of politics and get up to speed on the LAW and how to defend our constitutionally guaranteed rights.

And they bring their politics with them

now they can ruin where I live with their sh*tty voting habits!

I wish they would stop coming to Texas

They are messing up everything. So many Californians here I'm afraid my kids are going to lose their accent and start talking like surfer dudes.

That makes me sad to hear.. I was born in east TX and both my parents were born in TX and 99.9% of my family is either in TX or LA.. My folks moved to ca when I was little for work reasons.. I was raised with the accent and pick it up when I'm there for more than a week.. please let me come home when I need to..? Pretty please with sugar on it~

You can take the girl out of Texas but you can't take the Texas out of the girl~

my friend in Colorado

also complained about the Calis moving there. Said several things about them but I only remember the complaint about the road rage that now exists since the Calis moved in.

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.
James Madison

I remember those same complaints back in the 80s and 90s.

I think blaming others for every ill has always been popular.

Oh, don't EVEN get me started on that!

It's beyond horrendous.

When I was a kid, all of California moved to Seattle

Or so it seemed. It made everything nuts. Now they're moving to Texas I guess. Good luck.

Look on the bright side and buy real estate now. :-)

True in North Carolina, too

They are all "conservatives" moving down here and they are voting in big government Republicans and throwing out the moderate Democrats. A whole bunch of Republicans just came into office in January and I'm ashamed to call myself a Republican with some of the stuff they're trying to pull.

Aint that the truth,

I'm so ashamed of this state.
