Similar, but opposite.

My wife and I have nearly identical political views, but that in no way means that we are the same. Indeed, although she was pretty conservative politically she is no prude. But over the first few years of our courtship I turned her on to the internal harmony of the Libertarian philosophy, as well as some Ayn Rand.

But we are as different in personality as could be. We are literally complete opposites in the Myers-Briggs personality types. Me an INTJ, her an ESFP.

the truth of the matter is

that libertarian minded people in general are in short supply. Ask 20 people on the street about NDAA or HR 933, doesn't matter if they are a man or women only 1/20 will know what it is.

Trying to find a libertarian partner is going to be a challenge for any man or women, straight or gay.

Personally, the few politically active women I have been with have all been socialist/progressive statists. You used to be able to talk anti-war stuff with them. But now since obama is the number one murderer in town, you can't even do that. Now all political discussions with them end with me being told I hate women. Its amazing how so many women have become 1 issue voters in the last 2 presidential elections. I could even bring up that I support Gary Johnson who is pro choice, doesn't matter, still a women hater. I could even suggest Jill Stein of the Green party who is pro choice but they really want Obama. Cause he can talk good. lol

Person over politics

My advice would be to find someone who is honest, kind, intellectually curious, humble, rational, and virtuous and not worry about worldview. ESPECIALLY if you are in your twenties or younger, most people don't even have a sensible political vocabulary until they are older anyways.

- Find common ground
- Listen and appreciate her rational for her ideas
- Be curious, humble, and gracious. Be a good listener.
- Be fully versed in the reasoning behind lefty/righty worldviews in a way that is honest and shows that you understand where they come from at emotion, moral, utilitarian and historical level (us libertarians have to study harder than everybody else)
- Explain ideas as preferences and opinions
- Share books and media with a smile if you must

If you talk to just about anybody, they all don't like wars, they don't trust banks, they appreciate civil liberties, they are compassionate towards the sick and poor, they know that food should be safe and plentiful, they mostly don't think cannabis should be illegal, they don't like the prison system, on and on. So much in common!!

- Yell at everybody and call them stupid
- Let a 'libertarian identity' make you a bully or blowhard
- Forget that the point isn't to be a libertarian, but to be happy
- Assume that you have to change everybody's mind in the next 15 minutes
- Get upset and nasty when debating; we're all powerless anyways to change anything. Smile. Relax.

Just my opinion!

Creds: I've been married to my libertarian-leaning wife for 15 years.

Currently consuming: Morehouse's "Better off free", FDR; Wii U; NEP Football

We know a female EXXON ENGINEER

...and we were SHOCKED last night that she was marrying a guy that works in a BICYCLE SHOP! Now, she is a RP girl, attractive, a wee bit overweight, but that's EASILY overcome, especially with her looks! But, wow, are you kidding me? You need to start associating with the AE911truth.org people. We are BABY BOOMERS and we know a LOT of people!

Quit wasting your TIME with liberals! Who cares if they're good-looking. If they're narrow-minded and brainwashed, forget them!!

We need you young guys to start hooking up with MORAL GIRLS. Yes, attraction is good, but it's WAY overrated by the Media & Hollywood. Find someone who believes the way you do & settle down with her. She'll be A LIFETIME COMPANION, not some fly by night girl who dumps you later for some other idiot.

Some of you believe in GOD. So, go to your nearest Catholic Church and start attending their youth functions & join a youth group or ask about one. Pick a good neighborhood, because most of these girls are BRIGHT and come from GOOD FAMILIES!!

If you don't go to church or plan on going to church,

But believe in God, don't go to a church to find your future partner.

Church going girls are very humble and nice and it's easy to see why some would want to find their partner there. But if you go there with the intention of finding your partner with no intention to keep going to church, you are essentially trying to take a church going person out of the church. And if you do that, you are a selfish person only looking to satisfy only your needs.

Go to church to find God.

Once you do, a nice girl will come your way.

There are not many churches

There are not many churches near where I live, and the ones that are are full of old people.

Open-minded ones who love

Open-minded ones who love honesty. I was brought up in a Conservative home and was never a liberal but do have tendencies to save puppies and kittens (if you want to call that liberal..ha ha) but most start out in something other than libertarian ideas but are smart enough not to allow others to direct their paths and thoughts. I didn't become a libertarian type overnight and never voted strictly along party lines. I've voted Republican, Independent, Constitution Party, Democrat (only one time though... ha ha...and realize it was a mistake..........AND NO IT WAS NOT OBAMA), and Libertarian. They usually are women who are open-minded. They'd much rather have a man who is intelligent enough to not follow the sheep (shows strength) than have some "plastic" person who thinks they've all got it all figured out when they aren't even willing to look at the different possibilities. Anyway, that's my two cents.

Most women are liberals! Even the one that grow up in a conservative house are liberal at heart! Most need to learn that "the government" is the American tax payer and not some fairy godmother so when they say "the government will pay for it" They know that we ALL pay for it!

Return of Kings

Libertarian women are attracted to the same guys that all women are attracted to.

You should all check out a website called returnofkings.com - it is a great blog run by a player who is also a libertarian. He puts up fantastic articles about interesting books, philosophy, and most importantly - how to land women like a king. Be who you were born to be.

The problem may be

" I have never met a libertarian girl, but I probably wouldn't like them because I am not attracted to someone like myself."

If you don't like yourself you can not expect them to like you either.

Ok, I for one would be attracted to a libertarian... at least I think I would but I would never know because I CAN'T FIND ONE! Where the heck are you all?!

I had a libertarian girlfriend once.

It was great, we connected. Had a ball and got along great. Then the wife found out. OUCH!!

good one....

I do not understand your generation.

I'm over 60 years old and fat and I still have hot women flirting with me, some as young as their twenties. Meanwhile, my much younger, better looking friends can't get a date.

The best place to find women is on a college campus, preferably a student union or library. Strike up a conversation over the book they or reading one you are (use a demographic poll to find out what woman are reading and familiarize yourself with the book, including the author. There are plenty of college libraries and student centers that do not card you. Coffee shops in bookstores are great, too.

The next best place is some hobby club, especially dancing or hot cars.

Singles clubs are good, but you are as likely to find someone just as screwed up as you are. Sports bars are also pretty good, as long as the music is not too loud to hear each other talk. However, avoid "breastraunts," such as Hooters. Too many distractions.

If you are doing something you enjoy, even if you do not score, you will still have a good time.

Finally, avoid politics unless you are penned down. Too many disagreements, even if someone labels themselves the same as you and those kinds of discussions are very unsexy.

My wife is an Anarchist...

If you define yourself as a "libertarian" first, then as a man second, the pickings are going to be very slim. They need to like the man first. If they are not familiar with libertarianism, they will appreciate the humanity of treating every person fairly and will come to accept it naturally.

In my younger years, my head was full of Rand, Rothbard, Nozick, etc. I was bursting with the need to talk about it, 24/7. Those were my dry years. Then I met a woman who didn't have a political bone in her body, nor any interest in movements, history, wars, money, justice, etc. Today she is my wife, votes for libertarians, and understands and joins in conversations about world events.

Women, contrary to popular beliefs, are usually the choosers. They see a man they find attractive in some way (I think guys are ugly, so I am sooooo thankful for their lack of taste in beauty), and they open the window of opportunity for a brief moment, maybe 30 seconds. If the man responds with similar interest (a smile, a couple of words) then she'll leave the window open. If not, she moves on. If the guy is slow to respond, then tries to win her over, he can easily become annoying or worse.

She will leave that opportunity open for a man who is interested in her, who LISTENS to her, who is kind, witty, playful. She'll usually return the favor of being interested in what's going on in your head. Politics or philosophy is usually not a deal breaker.

Don't be too quick to dismiss the 'brainless' girls. They're plenty smart, it's just that most of the guys they've been around don't ask much of their intelligence. But go slow on the indoctrination...that comes with time.

And don't be so judgmental with the 'loose' women. Again, they've been taught that all guys want is sex, so they use it. They, too, are plenty smart and are looking for someone who will treat them right.

Good luck. I look at my wife and I'm glad that I'm not "out there" anymore.

Ron Johnson, have you read any Steven Pinker books?

I am curious, given you reading background, what you think of THE BETTER ANGLES OF OUR NATURE: WHY VIOLENCE HAS DECLINED. I am bursting to talk about this book, but only with someone like yourself who was bursting to talk about Rand, Rothbard, Nozick, etc because on many levels this book by Dr. Pinker presents facts we must deal with that may challenge our anarcho-capitalist ideas and also full of facts that may support them at the same time with other facts... Perhaps you can relate.

I have not read anything by Steven Pinker

But your comment made me curious. First, I considered the title "Better Angels of our Nature:Why Violence Has Declined," and I thought that the premise, that violence has declined, would be a tough thing to defend, given the bloodiness of the 20th Century. Then I checked with Wikapedia (not because it's an authority on anything, but because it's a place to start...sort of like Cliffs Notes) and read his bio. Then I drilled down to the entry detailing the book in question.

I found it interesting that he has taken a number of contrarian positions and has by-and-large prevailed. However, with the last book, he has been roundly criticised by his peers (ok, he got a glowing review from Bill Gates, but beyond name recognition, I'm not sure why anyone would care what Bill Gates thinks). One of the criticisms that popped up was that the book discounts the importance of war victims when tallying the toll of 'violence' (my initial reaction). Another was that the book misuses stats to prove his thesis, but does not include stats that disprove it.

My pending reading list is long, including the ratification debates, finishing Tocqueville, and reading a poorly reasoned book about the richest of the rich (my son gave it to me, so I'm obligated). I probably would not put "Better Natures" on my list, unless I saw something more in the thesis that would spark my interest.

Ron,,,,, you absolutely HAVE to read this book

Seriously, READ that book. At the very least, spend an hour in Borders Books just thumbing through it.

Yes, I'm sure that Dr. Pinker "has been roundly criticized by his peers", none of his peers are liking the facts he presents and summarizes so well. These facts speak STRONGLY in-favor of free trade and the ideas of the Enlightenment (read libertarian enlightenment) as bringing an unbelievable amount of PEACE and WEALTH to the world.

No, I am sure his peers --- liberal peers in academia--- are all doing back-flips and having conniptions that the Enlightenment/libertarian premise is a PEACE & WEALTH bringing premise. What hurts them most is how much data there has been assembled to show just that. Most importantly, this is not an OUGHT type argument, this is an IS based, fact based and factually reasoned argument.

Rothbard's New Liberty can be dismissed as an OUGHT, a normative opinion .... But Dr. Pinker's "Why Violence Has Declined" is a full throttled explanation, its a WHY argument, not a "should" argument. So of course Dr. Pinker, like all libertarian thinkers has found himself "roundly criticized" and is "out on a limb" with the current liberal leaning intelligentsia who "don't want to hear it". They want to hear that Capitalism equals militarism and violence. But the facts don't bare this out.

Ron, Given the kind of books that both you and I have read in the past, I highly recommend that you put it at the top of your list immediately. Its one where us min-anarchist and anarcho-capitalists will be debating for years and years. Dr. Pinker comes squarely down on the side of minarchist position because as he explains, the facts bare this out. Now anarcho-capitalists are not going to be happy, but they cannot run from the facts and cannot run away from the reasoning as to why this is so. They cannot, or rather, should not stick their collective anarcho-capitalist heads into the sand; -- They too, just like the liberal peers of Pinker in academia, must come to terms with the historical data.

Well I've been with a reformed liberal for 7 years, and I am a reformed conservative, and it seems to be a match made in heaven haha... Both happily embracing libertarianism now, though I'm the outspoken one

Try living in a military area...

I myself am in the Military, but I try not to associate myself with other soldiers when I'm not on duty. Not that I have anything against other soldiers, but I don't seem to fit in with the "Hooah Hooah!" crowd. I've never really liked following orders and ordering others around. (only 2 years left on the contract, couldn't come soon enough!) Hanging out with other soldiers usually leads to a bunch of shit talking, chest bumping and pissing contests.. (Can't we like... just chill and not gloat about every thing?) Not to mention the environment of hatred and racism that comes from SOME of my fellow battle buddies, because of the wars...

That being said... living in a military city makes the female selections very minimal. Most women here in the Springs (that I've met) are married already, have children, are pregnant, are attracted to the "army guys" I don't associate with. On top of the fact that "intelligence" seems hard to find these days, and I'm not attracted to dummies, lol. I also don't like whores... the pains of living in the Jersey Shore generation, lol.

It's all good though! There's someone out there for everyone! I'm talkin to a pretty cool chick right now, so we'll see how it goes. She knows I'm a "whacko bird" and hasn't ran away screaming yet, haha.
