The EU/IMF raiding bank accounts in Cyprus to bail out the country's financial system sets a dangerous precedent and investors should "run for the hills" said investor Jim Rogers, chairman of Rogers Holdings, on "Squawk on the Street" Thursday.

Rogers said that with Cyprus, politicians are saying that this is a special case and urging people not to worry, but that is exactly why investors should be concerned.

"What more do you need to know? Please, you better hurry, you better run for the hills. I'm doing it anyway," Rogers said. "I want to make sure that I don't get trapped. Think of all the poor souls that just thought they had a simple bank account. Now they find out that they are making a 'contribution' to the stability of Cyprus. The gall of these politicians."

Banks

Banks are the most corrupt institutions in this and most other countries! Do NOT trust banks, they are in bed with the government! Your money is safer under your mattress then in a bank! GET YOUR MONEY OUT BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!

Buy commodities was usual advice from Jim. But how to do it practically? I have a few grands in stocks and commodities tracking indexes but my account is run by British broker/bank. This can be looted too, can't it?
Does this boils down to buying a few ounces of gold and bury it in the garden?

With a few grand, look into

Nowhere is safe from wealth confiscation.

That's what I believe.

Maybe I'm naive but...

Maybe I'm naive but I do believe a tiny remnant of the wealthy managed to accumulate their wealth without getting so corrupt they'd be using cronies, state protection, and plunder against the public as their standard.

Those know just like us they are vulnerable and can fear possible government grabs over their wealth. Especially the perverted law uses guns, too, always. I took his sentence more as a metaphor, while he knows his geographical location won't matter much if they really want to plunder him as well.

"The hills" probably refers to some wishful ways to hide some of his wealth from them not relying only on his remote location
- thus, without too much illusions either.

Running for things that are real is the answer.

Buy things that are especially undervalued, like gold, silver, and gold stocks. Just my opinion. The banks are losers. Thanks for the bump.
