Fifth-Grade Quiz on 9/11Submitted by bcfast on Thu, 03/28/2013 - 15:02
Kara Sands of Corpus Christi, Texas, took issue with a sensitive question on a quiz given to her fifth-grade son entitled "Remembering September 11th" that asked why the United States may be a target for terrorist acts, KRISTV.com, the Washington Times, Fox News and other news outlets reported. The quiz was administered by a Flour Bluff Independent School and was not part of the CSCOPE curriculum.
When Sands saw the quiz with her son's correct answer, "Decisions we made in the United States have had negative effects on people elsewhere," she contacted the school's principal and the distributor of the video that the quiz was based on, Safari Montage.
Flour Bluff officials said Sands is the only parent to complain about the test. However, Sands took her beef one step further by posting the test on Facebook, and more than 1,600 people supported her concerns.
"I’m not going to justify radical terrorists by saying we did anything to deserve that; over 3,000 people died," Sands said.
