Montana Governor Vetoes 2nd Amendment Protection Bill

Montana Governor Lies About the Constitution, Vetoes 2nd Amendment Protection Bill

Here’s a surprise for you; some Governors have absolutely zero understanding of the Constitution. None, whatsoever. Montana Governor Steve Bullock seems to fit that description quite nicely.

Yesterday, he vetoed Montana House Bill 302 (HB302). The bill would require the state to refuse to enforce or assist the enforcement of any federal bans on semiautomatic weapons or large capacity magazines. The bill states, in part:

A peace officer, state employee, or employee of any political subdivision is prohibited from enforcing, assisting in the enforcement of, or otherwise cooperating in the enforcement of a federal ban on semiautomatic weapons or large magazines and is also prohibited from participating in any federal enforcement action implementing a federal ban on semiautomatic weapons or large magazines.

Here’s why Bullock is clueless about the Constitution. In his veto message he wrote that the bill would put “law enforcement in the position of violating laws they have sworn to uphold” and “subject our peace officers to criminal sanctions for upholding the oath we ask that they take.”

Here’s a message for you, Steve. You’re a liar, and we know it.

Hb 304

I'm curious as to what Bullock will do with HB 304- permitless conceal carry.

The founders would be ashamed at us for what we are putting up with.

When does the recall start?

Here's A Surprise For You BACK

Governors for the most part work for the FEDS. Didn't you learn anything when the governor of Montana didn't show some balls when it came to shutting down the medical marijuana grower that got busted by the Feds even though he had done nothing wrong according to Montana law?

Federal largess

Governors, even those who claim to be conservatives, don't want to jeopardize the federal funds sent to their states from Big Brother in Washington, D.C.
The states rely on billions in revenue from the Departments of Defense, Education, Energy and Transportation, National Park Service, NASA, Medicare, Medicaid,, etc.
If the states stand up to Big Brother, their funding can be reduced or eliminated.
Federal funding helps keep the states in line because the states are addicted to the handouts.

Bullock is a capital L Liberal

As Attorney General, he allowed federal law enforcement to engage in looting of the medical marijuana businesses which were approved by voter initiative.

Bullock is a LIBERAL democrat and someone like him should not be governor of Montana. The problem is the GOP failed to put a strong candidate against him. Rick Hill is not a people's republican and I have no idea how he ever won the primary. Hill is a nice guy, but not a strong Montana conservative.

The founders would be ashamed at us for what we are putting up with.

What & did the bill pass by

What & did the bill pass by in MT?

Although it was vetoed by the governor, can't the state representatives override the veto? Unless...it only passed by 51%.

SteveMT's picture

If MT Senate passes the NDAA nullification bill,.....

as the MT House did (by 98-0) and Bullock also vetoes that bill, watch out for radical solutions.

Montana Action Alert: Final Vote on NDAA Nullification This Week

"upholding the oath "We Ask" that they take"

What does the oath they take ask "THEY" entail?

The Constitution was written

The Constitution was written to limit these peoples power. I don't think the Governor of Montana gets the concept.

wow. I would think in Montana

that sort of thing would get you removed from office before the next election even starts.

I'd rather have a bottle in front o' me than a frontal lobotomy

This is just bullocks! Ok,

This is just bullocks! Ok, someone had to say it. haha

To climb the mountain, you must believe you can.

Is this Federal Government Policy under the Continuity of Government Program?

In His Veto Message!

In his veto message he wrote that the bill would put “law enforcement in the position of violating laws they have sworn to uphold” and “subject our peace officers to criminal sanctions for upholding the oath we ask that they take.”

In our country that is what we call, Treason.

We know what the penalizes are for Treason.

will Chuck Baldwin move again?

...some impact we're all having...he moved there in 2010 citing "... if there is a place left in America where true freedom has an opportunity to experience a rebirth, it is in the Mountain States of America’s great Northwest. I love the fact that Montana is often referred to as “The Last Best Place.” And as far as freedom and liberty are concerned, it just might be.Now, we are not naïve. We realize that there are many Big-Government liberals and neocons in the Mountain States who will not be pleased to see us come. When compared to the rest of the country, however (and I’ve seen most all of it), I would dare say that there are more freedom lovers in the Mountain States (per capita and per square mile) than anywhere else in the country."

Let's see if they can recoup their reputation, or else it's so much for that last stand
against parent government tyranny....didn't Alex Jones and Jesse Ventura expose a FEMA prison there in Hardin Montana too?

I don't believe that Chuck Baldwin will leave.

There are more FFLs/capita in Montana than any other state. More than Texas by far, and even slightly more than Wyoming.

1,005,141/1154 = 871 people for each FFL.

There is good access to defense up here. It's the ammo I'm worried about.

Calculate the ratio of FFLs/capita for you own state.

This one will be close, if 2/3rds are required to override.

I'm not sure about the House vote.

From Montana.

Recall Bullock is necessary

Sadly, Bullock was just elected Governor in November, so a recall would be necessary to remove him from office before 2017.

WHOA! That's An Understatement!

Cluless indeed...I would hope this Gov. Bullock gets recalled or voted out..and soon...

So sad for the people of Montana...

Time to take the trash out folks..

Corrupt guy, this Bullock. Bad news for MT

The particulars are all there:
I. Steve Bullock as Montana Attorney General used public funds to protect the unauthorized practice, and criminal contempt of a Montana Law Student.
II. Steve Bullock embezzles/hides public funds from lawsuits to benefit "victims" yet fails to benefit victims in Montana.
III. Steve Bullock does not protect Montana victims.
IV. Steve Bullock protects criminal law enforcement/no rights
V. Steve Bullock does not respect Montana law or citizens.
VI. Steve Bullock gives pretext (false) argument about campaign funding for Montana. Bullock represents a corporate party (Democrat) who accepts large out of state funds, help.
VII. Montana needs less corrupt lawyers, and less corruption to obtain prosperity. Justice and jobs means prosperity for Montana.

Hope he enjoys his last term...

He won't be reelected and will soon go to work for a lobbying firm that buys off governors and congressmen just like him. Until, that is, he is tarred and feathered.

Good luck to his children who will have to carry his benedict arnold name around for a lifetime.

Yup. The 1st order of business is to override the veto.

Thanks for the bump.
