Scientist Predicts Earth Is Heading For Another Ice Age Next Year

By: Giles Sheldrick

Incredibly, British Summer Time officially starts tomorrow but millions of brassed off Brits pining for warmth will have to endure freezing temperatures and biting winds until May.

The misery will continue with daytime temperatures struggling to reach a bracing 5C (41F). The only ray of sunshine, forecasters said, is that it will stay dry.

As if the outlook wasn’t bleak enough already, meteorologists believe the shivering start to 2013 has been the coldest in more than 200 years.

More worryingly, the combination of sub-zero temperatures and heavy snow experienced across much of the country recently could be the prelude to a new Ice Age that will begin next year and last for 200 years.

So, a Russian scientist checks his local weather

outside his apartment at 42 Bradbury Ct., Chauncey, England and because his winter started late and ran late, he's predicting the entire globe's climate is going colder? And this gets serious comments?

There's zero science in this article. Zero credibility. Nothing. Yet so many are ready to jump on this because of some news that people got caught with motives for one side or another. Hello? Both sides have tons of motives so conspiratorial exposing is inevitable.

If one looks at the science only, there's only one conclusion to reach. Man made pollution has crossed into a new territory of awareness of how it can affect the world around us. Do you think you would survive if we put a bubble over your town, a few farms and lakes and let you burn coal, gasoline, oil and dump SOx and NOx into your air? Even if we made the bubble bigger and bigger, at some point it will overwhelm some needed piece of your food chain.

And just because the temperature on every point of the planet isn't rising steadily, exactly as predicted (by you), doesn't mean the effects are building up somewhere. Even those claiming that the temps are falling and who DO look at the global trends, even they have still missed things like the depths of the ocean. Studies show that over 90% of the heat increase is getting stored there. So, what happens when that becomes a factor? I'm kind of thinking the game is over if that happens because there's nothing conceivable that can cool off that kind of mass very fast.

Agreed

I don't believe in Global warming at all since the last ten years have showed global cooling instead, contra the 1990's models projected into the future, but this is no reason to not worry about increases in worldwide pollution.

I belive that about as much

I belive that about as much as global warming...which is to say not at all. There are cold years and warm years...its that simple...the climate may change but they can neither predict it nor do anything about it, even if they tried.

Some say in ice.

I hold with those who favor fire.

And would suffice.

Ice Age Now

Warm or cold...

It doesn't matter if it is warming or cooling, the whole reason the "establishment" loves (and hypes) problems that are caused by mankind is to somehow throw power and taxing authority to the arms of the UN. Who else can save us from a problem too big for one country to solve? How else can the NWO ultimately come into being? You have to "educate" the people into begging for it. Big Government v2.0 .

lots of snow?

a blizzard here and there? Most likely. Another ice age? No, he needs to lay off the pipe. Him's silly.

We don't know how wacky the weather can be and we know that meteorologists get it wrong all the time! This scientist even says, "The climate has never been and will never be stable.” So he is trying to predict...something he even himself calls...unpredictable. The world will end in fire-not ice, dude.

And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

Good. Maybe we'll get some snow next year then

I miss snowy winters and frozen ponds. Perhaps I grew up in an ice age because I clearly recall snow and frozen ponds. I haven't seen a whole lot of either for a long time. I welcome this contrived ice age.

Peat

Is the expansion of peatlands the reason the Earth is heading into a new Ice Age?

A little twist of scientists that think carbon emissions are slowing the effects of peat pushing the globe into a cold period quicker.

I personally think they have too much time on their hands. And are drumming up things to make themselves valuable to society.

"Peatlands grow in height and spread across their surroundings by waterlogging woodlands. They are also one of the biggest terrestrial sinks of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Each year, around 20 grams of carbon are absorbed by every square metre of peatland."

Lol it is actually the

Lol it is actually the opposite, if we were going into an ice age oceans would be receding not rising. Not to mention there would be much more glacier formation ,especially in the north, but however glaciers have been decreasing in mass quite exponentially since 2002 which is an indication of global warming so I don't think we are having an ice age any time soon.

Look at the history of cooling events

quite a few of them have taken place during periods of rapid warming:

http://www.geo.arizona.edu/palynology/geos462/8200yrevent.html

basically from freshwater melting from glaciers and disrupting the
ocean currents' transport of energy from the equator to higher latitudes.

Overall warming isn't inconsistent with major cooling events.

The only problem is

Humans have pretty much stopped the next ice age due to green house gas emissions. They are correct that we are due for our next ice age, the only problem is ever since the passage of the clean air act atmospheric pollutants from burning fossil fuels have greatly decreased which is somewhat of a good thing. However these pollutants added to an increase albedo of the atmosphere allowing it to significantly reduce the temp of the planet. This is the reason co2 went undected for so long as a greenhouse gas. So since the passage of the clean air act earths temp as greatly increased and we see this with reduction of glacier sizes over the past few years. Look up the keeling curve to get a better idea of co2's influence on earth. Also if your gonna down vote me for a different opinion at least leave a comment instead of just down voting

You've been well-conditioned

Someone at the UN is very proud right now. Does Co2 cause temperature changes, or does it indicate them?
I didn't downvote you. I just think you've been deceived on this matter. It's not your fault, the UN has spent millions to influence your thinking and it has worked.

btw--we're in an ice age now because there is polar ice. In the warm periods, there is no polar ice. Paleontology baby.

For starters Paleontology is

For starters Paleontology is the scientific study of prehistoric LIFE. It includes the study of fossils to determine organisms' evolution and interactions with each other and their environments. What you are referring too is glaciology. I'm a geology student and have studied CO2, and as much as I hate to admit it, CO2 does cause global atmospheric warming. I've seen the facts and figures to support it, hard scientific evidence using cryomatic icecores, half the people here probably read one article on the subject and now they are an experts. I think for myself I was provided facts from both environmental, neutral, and energy company parties looked at there perspective and made my own opinion. If you don't agree with it, I honestly don't care because for me it was an actaul informed decision and not just me doing anything I can to go against the UN

Democracy is like two wolves and a sheep deciding whats for dinner- Benjamin Franklin

Right, but you do know that

Right, but you do know that most of the alarmism comes from simulations rather than current trends right?

CO2 is a greenhouse gas that leads to warming is a premise I accept without too much skepticism. My questions to you are:

1) How sensitive is global temperature to increase in CO2?
2) What will be the repercussions of a world that on average is a few degrees hotter?
3) How much is it possible to reduce emissions by without crippling the economy?
4) How much is the temperature differential expected to be when we act on the issue of climate change as opposed to doing nothing.

I know these answers are not exact, but you can give me a middle of the road scenario over the next century.

I Agree!

what MikeLawson said! - My thoughts exactly!

Remain in the middle here

I want to be as unbiased as I can possibly be here. I don't know whether or not 'global warming' or 'global cooling' are really affected by human activity, but I know that they are real, natural processes. Let us not use these few articles to push aside global warming because it conflicts with our political views. We know that if it's true, we'll need to have some sort of environmental protection. Again, I haven't got a clue whether it is or not. But I do know this: some of us here need to be more thorough before they begin to believe something just because it's not mainstream, or because it conflicts with our political views.

"Believe half of what you see, and none of what you hear." - Benjamin Franklin

If human activity is causing climate change,

the solution is freedom. If CO2 emissions are a problem, legalize industrial hemp to allow for a renewable energy source. Quit subsidizing fossil fuels.

Do we really want to set the precedent of giving the federal government legal authority to manipulate the climate? This is the same government that caused hundreds of thousands of people to die in the Middle East over the last 20 years, who carpet bombed Cambodia, resulting in the rise of Pol Pot and his killing fields where 2 million people perished. Should we add climate change technology and legal cover to their arsenal? Have you gone mad? We need solutions to ALL the World's problems, solutions that come about through voluntary cooperation, NOT through the violence of politics.

Even if global warming is

Even if global warming is caused by man then I'm sure we can adjust to a foot of water level rise per century and 3 degrees.

I wonder if it was global cooling if they'd ask everyone to burn more fossil fuels. Regardless of the problem, the solution suggested is the fruit or an infantile mind.

You do realize the majority

You do realize the majority of the population in the world lives close to a coast line, a meter or two in sea level rise doesn't sound like much, but it really is. Miami, Boston, New Orleans populations would all be displaced if we sea a 1-2 meter rise in sea level

If the rise occurs over a

If the rise occurs over a time period of 100 years, couldn't we move inland?

The question of course is economic. Whether its cheaper to adapt or to turn our economy upside down and reduce a few centimetres.

There have been a number of cooling events

in the last 10,000 years - thought to have been caused by influxes
of fresh water into the North Atlantic from melting glacier that disrupted
the circulation of ocean currents - which is why what is happening
with the Greenland Ice Sheet is a little bit important...

"The 8.2 Ka cooling event may have been caused by a large meltwater pulse from the final collapse of the Laurentide ice sheet of northeastern North America—most likely when the glacial lakes Ojibway and Agassiz suddenly drained into the North Atlantic Ocean. (The same type of action produced the Missoula floods that created the Channeled scablands of the Columbia River basin.) The meltwater pulse may have affected the North Atlantic thermohaline circulation, reducing northward heat transport in the Atlantic and causing significant circum-North Atlantic cooling. Estimates of the cooling vary and depend somewhat on the interpretation of the proxy data, but drops of around 1 to 5 °C have been reported. In Greenland, the event started at 8175 Before Present, and the cooling was 3.3 °C (decadal average) in less than ~20 years, and the coldest period lasted for about 60 years, and the total duration was about 150 years.[1] Further afield, some tropical records report a 3 °C (5 °F) cooling from cores drilled into an ancient coral reef in Indonesia. The event also caused a global CO2 decline of ~ 25 ppm over ~ 300 years."

It was probably the pandas.

If the climate starts cooling significantly,

we can count on the green fascists to blame it on unregulated human activity, which can only be cured by drastic government regulatory action.

Trust me, I'm old enough to have lived during the latter part of the last cooling cycle, which lasted from roughly 1940 - 1975, and I remember the scare tactics and propaganda of that era. Then the cooling climate was blamed on human caused particulate emissions from burning fossil fuels. It seems people have such short memories, they'll fall for anything.

A significant sudden cooling period

would be a drastic enough "regulatory action" on human activity that
tree huggers will be the least of your worries.

FWIW the biggest cooling
events of the last 10,000 years occurred during a period when the general
trend was of rapid global warming. Some of the effects of the third one of
these, which started suddenly at about 8,200 years BP:

Drier conditions were notable in North Africa, while East Africa suffered five centuries of general drought. In West Asia and especially Mesopotamia, the 8.2ky event was a three-hundred year aridification and cooling episode, which provided the natural force for Mesopotamian irrigation agriculture and surplus production that were essential for the earliest class-formation and urban life.

Cancel "climate change" propaganda

What will green fascists do now? Maybe they should focus their energy on Monsanto, Cargill, ADM and other big GMO polluters... or government fluoridation ruining the entire water cycle... or nuclear plant deficiencies and waiting catastrophes ...
