Perry under pressure: Will Texas fall to Obamacare?

Financial Times | March 31, 2013

Rick Perry, the governor of Texas, is facing pressure from fellow Republicans to drop his opposition to accepting billions of dollars in federal funds under the “Obamacare” reforms and extend health insurance to 1.5m of the state’s poorest citizens.

These lawmakers want to begin negotiations with the Obama administration to expand and privatise Medicaid in a way that could be acceptable to both conservatives and the US president.

[Fascism should more appropriately be called Corporatism because it is a merger of state and corporate power. - Benito Mussolini]

According to an analysis by the state’s former budget estimator, expanding Medicaid would cost Texas $15bn over 10 years, but would open the door to $100bn in new federal funds over that period.

“Senator Cruz remains opposed to any expansion of Medicaid under Obamacare. It would be completely irresponsible to add more people to a programme that clearly does not work. Medicaid must be reformed and states must be given flexibility to implement the program that’s best for their state,”...[a spokeswoman for Mr Cruz said.]

I have NO DOUBT

that Perry will, in the end, roll over for them like a good dog. And then he will tell Texans that he did it with their best interest in mind. Perry is about as predictable as they come.

this is about lobbyist money

hospitals are big winners in the Medicare expansion money grab. Hospitals get to charge more and get fully paid by the states taking the Medicare money. No more losing money on people using the emergency room as primary care. God forbid they actually use their brains and open an area for minor stuff that doesn't need emergency room personel and procedures to take care of.

It's like ordering a hamburger and getting filet minon because they don't have hamburgers and then either not paying or paying only for a hamburger. What a dumbass business model that is. By taking the medicare money the states will now cover this bill in full and with out a down the charges will increase. Nothing but a money scheme to enrich the few at the expense of taxpayers.

Same thing in AZ

I believe the same thing happened in Arizona with Gov. Brewer. Against it, pressured, caved.

Perry will most likely run

Perry will most likely run his mouth about conservative values like at the State Convention;
Perry: "like my friend David Dewhurst.."
Crowd: "Boooooooooooo"
, but will bend over in the end and accept federal funding.

They are the ones who wrote the law. 25+ million new customers.

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

Perry is in bed with big Pharma and big insurance.

Perry loves Obama and they are both in the pocket of the same big business rackets.

Perry supports RomneyCare and he will see to it the ObamaCare is accepted in Texas all the same.

His office is working on the spin as we speak.

Was there ever any doubt that a neocon would support the neocon agenda?
