Percent of Americans Believing in the Resurrection Drops To 64% From 77% Last Easter

Still way too many people believe someone can be buried for 3 days and come back to life...but at least more people are coming to their senses.

A study released by the Rasmussen Reports polling firm on Good Friday found that 64% of Americans believe that Jesus Christ rose from the dead.

While Americans who believe in the resurrection remain in the majority, that number is down significantly when compared to a Rasmussen Poll that asked the same question, released a year ago.

On April 7th, 2012 Rasmussen released a poll finding that 77% of Americans believed the resurrection of Christ to be historical fact.

The difference between the two polls shows a 13 percentage point drop in the number of Americans who believe that Christ rose from the dead, since last Easter.

Additionally, this year's poll found that 19% of Americans reject the central tenant of the Christian faith and do not believe that Christ was resurrected. That's compared to only 7% who said they didn't believe that Christ rose from the dead a year ago. A staggering 12 percentage point jump.

Preface: I believe in a Creator, not currently identified, probably never will be. The most perfect Being able to be imagined by the human mind would never take credit for anything, would it. Think about it.

There is no doubt that corporate religion is the greatest last hurdle for someone to truly achieve freedom. This issue alone has made it more clear than any other that a majority of the self proclaimed "liberty movement" are nothing more than corporate whores.

The evidence of our earth being billions of years old is overwhelming yet we are asked to believe that a man born just 2,000 years ago is the savior of it all. It is a fairytale contrived to make the authors very rich. Mission accomplished. And can I add they don't pay taxes. Extremely brilliant business model.

What keeps a majority of the population from questioning the official story is this devilish character named satan. You are of the devil if you break their matrix, don't you know. Truth is satan is no more real than little red riding hood, santa claus or frosty the snowman. All of them are in the zodiac.

To believe

We all presuppose logic and a logical universe in order to exist and be rational. It is more logical that a mind created the universe, and all creations must exist outside of the mind of the creator - we have observed nothing that would indicate otherwise. It is more logical and probable that there is at least a "first cause" as opposed to an infinite, and unprovable, series of past events with no beginning, or that we are the result of 1:10^256 odds of random information assembly, starting with the sheer hair-fine precision of the universal constants in physics even allowing for matter, let alone any form of life.

Agnosticism is the only "True" 100% rational position - we cannot truly KNOW using science and reason, because we don't have the tools to answer that question. Atheists are not agnostics, even though I find them hilariously saying "I'm not asserting anything, I'm just denying your claim that God exists". Meanwhile there's the whole logical dependency thing, and to claim to be able to deny the existence of A without the implicit Therefore A Does Not Exist is laughable.

Now I have stepped back for a fresh look. Why does this book deserve any more credibility than a history book issued by the rand corporation? The ones in public schools to fool people on history. So we go to war on the drop of a hat.

If you are capable of making statements like this and still claiming to be a rational human being, then you obviously understand absolutely nothing about the bible. It is historical narrative and witness accounts of events plus copies of letters written between individuals. There is an insane amount of criteria used to determine the legitimacy of what is in the bible versus what content was excluded.

You don't doubt the existence of Plato and Socrates on a historical basis, yet there are only about 25 total documents on EARTH that point back to them, and the closest one to their own time was written 800 years AFTER they died.

There are 22,000 corroborating texts to the New Testament Gospels alone, some of them written in less than a generation after the actual events.

Don't attempt to discuss the bible unless you have an actual historical understanding of it and hermeneutics training in Greek, etc. It's pointless otherwise. People treat it like it's supposed to be a modern novel or some junk and then make fun of it. It is a collection of accounts from various authors, and correspondence between individuals...

And people who claim to be 'Rational' don't understand what constitutes actual evidence using tested and vetted methods throughout human history. For example, an agnostic spanking an atheist making baseless assertions on the bible, and it's hilarious...

For starters its not issued by the rand corporation.

It has been around for a long time and has never been proven wrong.

But most of all, its author rose from the dead.

There is no other religion whose founder is alive.

The point behind these reply s is that if American legal standards on evidence were applied to the Bible, it would stand up in court as a reliable witness.

It is also the public school books that help fool people into being educated out of faith in God.

And it was organized by people who had an agenda to become wealthy so they would never have to work. They successfully replicated the golden age. That was their intent and they pulled it off.

I don't have to call on anybody. I believe the parts that Rome did not corrupt. I did screw up saying Rome was the "author". Rome was the editor. And like any news reporter will tell you, their original story never...

The Bible is one book exactly. It's 66 compiled into one book I suppose.

Rome wasn't the Bible corrupter exactly either. That began with the gnostic s in the 2nd century. By the 3rd century, the corruption was complete and this corruption can be seen reflected in the modern bible translations since 1880. This is known as the Alexandrian text.
The Authorized Version or KJV is translated from a different line of manuscripts known as the Received Text of which the majority of manuscripts bear witness of. This is what the Protestant Churches used to believe as their final authority.
There are serious doctrinal differences between these two lines and with so many "new" translations, there is no more final authority.
Rome has usurped Biblical authority and used it to its advantage for sure.

Furthermore, does it still hold true that the earth is flat when those witnesses and their testimony is no longer to be found? I mean, once the evidence is gone, can the world then become spherical?

Their movement would no doubt fall apart, but if they could convince that He had arise from the dead, then surely if would live on. And as His apostles, that put them up pretty high in the whole scheme...

As for 1 Corinthians, where the 500 number comes from, this is Paul relaying what he had heard. It is second hand information, "this is what I heard...", "somebody told me, now I'm telling you".

There is the written testimony of the Apostles, of which there is a conflict of interest that questions their credibility. And the rest is hearsay, no allowable evidence in court. Just as the one who claimed they were told that someone else's brother told them that they saw a ship fall off the edge of the earth...

The reason for Paul's letter to the Corinthian was because the movement was already falling apart and people were devolving back to corruption with their King having been executed.
