Top Senator, Barbara Mikulski, Apologizes For Monsanto Protection Act

Anthony Gucciardi | Infowars.com | April 2, 2013

Senator Barbara Mikulski of Maryland has released a public statement apologizing to the public for the passing of the Monsanto Protection Act, stating that the legislation was buried deep within a government spending bill that was required to ‘prevent a government shutdown.

Mikulski is the Senate Appropriations Committee Chairwoman, one who was ultimately responsible for passing the bill that contained the notorious Monsanto Protection Act — a legislative ‘rider’ that grants biotech juggernaut Monsanto immunity from federal courts when it comes to their GMO crops. Although ‘written’ by Senator Roy Blunt, who actually gave Monsanto the ability to write their own Monsanto Protection Act and has received over $60,000 from Monsanto, Mikulski has taken serious flak for the passing of the rider.

Sen Mikulski can save her lame excuses and apologies for after

she's removed the Act. And we still need to know whose responsible for putting it in the CR in the first place. We know it didn't walk in on its own two feet.

"If you want something you've never had before, you have to do something you've never done before." Debra Medina

what a liar...

the "government" (a group of people who come together to solve a problem) can NEVER "shutdown", ever. unless you kill ALL people on the planet.

is she saying that if there is no "money" that she wouldn't voluntarily still go and help solve problems? seriously? if that is true, she, and anyone else who would not give their time freely to serve the public, needs to find a new line of work.

"public servant" (one that SERVES others) means something. and it doesn't mean what they think it means. "to serve" does not mean "to get paid for."

I use Blue Wave, but don't expect one of THEIR silly taglines.

THE biggest treason in your country...

... is the fact that your lawmakers do not read the laws they sign. Behind that is that most of the time they do not write them but knowingly let corporate and elite make you laws; and for pay --however they paint it.

What business does a "lawmaker" have pulling such a filthy trick of slipping in something like that? How do you tolerate that? Why don't all the impractical philosophers here create a movement to stop that? Why don't they get together and form some structure and appoint some leaders who can spearhead as spokespersons into the forums that matter and organize protests as massively as needed till you have genuine lawmakers instead of the farce you have now that is doing you in?

Why do you tolerate "leaders" like that and refuse to form a group and set up your own. Instead you tolerate a status quo of a façade of leaders because no-one want to seem unpopular for supporting a leader that you can't all agree with 100%. Why don't you form a group that gets the 5 most important things done; or 10; or 20 and tell the leader what to do like someone tells ehte current puppets at all levels what to do?

The lawmakers abdicating their responsibility to corporations you did not elect is the primary treason.

The failure of those who know about that to get organized and undo it is the secondary treason.

Why did Barbie whatshername not apologize for not reading the laws or knowing who wrote them; isn't that her job? If I was employed and did not do my job I would get fired. Why do you tolerate that? Has someone lost their balls in this scenario?

I yearn for the day when

I yearn for the day when politicians don't need to apologize for their votes because they don't vote for anything that needs an apology.

That means: For each job "created or saved" about five were destroyed.

That is pretty lame.

Sorry. I didn't read the bill and the whip said vote yes or else.

Free includes debt-free!

No excuses

If you voted for the Farm Bill with the Monsanto protection act your guilty and should be voted out of office. This maybe the only way to stop tyranny, put fear in the hearts of the politician.

I have met Barbara and she is a very nice person.

Of course, I would never vote for her, just as I would never vote for a candidate who voted for Iran sanctions or supported Mitt Romney.

AKA political doublespeak

This is political chicanery at its worst feigning a mea culpa on a very unpalatable (excuse the pun) backroom handshake with Monsanto showing purposeful avoidance of consumer protests. "Off with her head"...just makes me feel good to say it although I would accept a resignation and another bill to override this rider.

I posted this article on another DP GMO thread on November 5, 2012 so there was plenty of time for the pols to be informed since petitions were circulating back then protesting the Monsanto Protection Act.
FOCUS: Is Monsanto About to Gain Immunity From Federal Law?

I thus do not buy Mikulski’s claim she and other members of Congress were “unaware” the Monsanto Protection Act existed. You had Organic Consumers Association, Center for Food Safety, Food Democracy Now and the Alliance for Natural Health USA and other orgs protesting the rider. There is no excuse for such willful dereliction of duty.

I'm sorry but, in order for me to look good to my coworkers

I had to support the company that hell bent on poisoning you and grant them full immunity. You understand my precarious position right? Thank you for you continued support.

how about everyone that voted for it.

seems like we are missing something
shouldn't we impeach the the bomber in the white house.
we are killing people we don't even know there names

Signing anything that make seems to make him money.

When is a new bill going to

When is a new bill going to be introduced to repeal the Monsanto Protection Act? It only has to be 1 sentence long. It should only take a day or two to pass.

Apologizing is more than my (OR) senators have done

But, as you say, the real test is whether they try to undo the
evil deed.

And we should give some credit to Jon Tester (MT) - he was the
*only* Democrat to vote against it.

If she was truly sorry she'd

If she was truly sorry she'd never vote again on something she didn't completely read and understand. I won't hold my breath.

Sooo... she's a huge supporter of Read the Bills Act now, right?

Her apology means nothing unless she takes corrective action to make sure it never happens again.

If men are good, you don't need government; if men are evil or ambivalent, you don't dare have one.

If I didn't read or

If I didn't read or understand something I was responsible for at my job I'd be fired on the spot There's no excuse for lame politicians not reading bills they pass.

This pos has always been this way:

MD has been overtaken by the wellfare queen and it has been for a long while now.
Somehow she continues win her seat and that old bat should have been gone a long time ago. It's a wonder I am not in jail for some of the things I have written to her and that other pos. Just check her voting record if you want a complete inventory of what a senator is not suppose to be or do.

I am appalled by my government

OUST Mikulski

If they don't read and/or understand and/or make sorry excuses for legislation that they vote on, OUST them.

They MUST be held accountable.

Why didn't she read the bill?

Why would she support the bill with pork like this in it anyway? There is simply no excuse.

Why did she support spending increases to begin with? This isn't fixing the problem.

She can take her shallow apology and stick it. Too little, too late. She stuck it to everyone and now hopes to bury it under the rug.

so now she is sorry but what's done is done? don't be sorry, just don't do it!

She can't be serious...

She is joking, right? She doesn't really expect anyone to believe her does she?

Well, in case she does; I do not forgive any of them for anything which is odd because in general I am a pretty forgiving person.

Since When Did Our Senators Ever Read Bills Before They Vote

Mikulski too overly eager to please Obama and voted for this pork barrel crap. She should be thrown out as should many others for not following her oath of office.. Now her own base is pissed at her and she's running scared now. She's only apologizing to cover her worthless ass..

Look for legislation in the future that outlaws all organic food.

How do you like you free America now, liberals?

Don't forget to vote.
