"The dearest ambition of a slave is not liberty, but to have a slave of his own."
Sir Richard Burton
"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free."

...this, after hearing Tom Woods interview the screenwriter. Excellent, moving film -- great message in support of Liberty, peacemaking and loving neighbor as thyself.
Would never have guessed it was filmed in Canada. :)
Are you saying my high school US history books were light on details and facts? They never told me about this. Can't be real. ***disbelief***

the fraternal order of police is rallying again against the citizenry but this time it is everyone against themselves.

Thanks for the link..
I just watched it and I am impressed. Well worth watching.
...adding this to my gift list this year -- great film for helping people see a different perspective on war and peace than they're used to.
But not near me, they have a campaign going to get it in more theaters.
I went and saw it. If you enjoy principled men standing up to tyranny of political leaders and the mob who support them, you'll enjoy this movie.
Best line of the movie:
"Sometimes, the cure is worse than the disease"
-Abner Beach talking about using war to end slavery
Second best line:
"You're named after Thomas Jefferson, ya idiot."
-Abner Beach when his son "Jeff" tells his dad he wants to be called Tom because of Jefferson Davis
Those who celebrate on July 4th may not be aware that they are celebrating Secession Day or Overthrow-the-Government Day. These people should sympathize with the Confederate States of America in the War to Prevent Southern Independence.
Well worth a look. Portrays the mischief wrought by the civil war in one New York state community, and in US civil society in general. The war is called a 'cure worse than the disease', and 'freeing slaves by enslaving all men'. With more than a little comparison to the present situation. Finally an appeal more faithfully to observe Christ's law: 'Love Thy Neighbor'.
Obedience to God is resistance to tyrants.
Is that still in the bible?

Democrats in the north were all feared to be copperheads and southern sympathizers.
Few realize this nation already has a well documented history of violating the 2nd Amendment rights of its citizens and all out firearms confiscation.
It already happened in Indiana during the civil war.
My guess is this movie will only be available in local markets or the (Gods & Generals only showed in large theaters and this one looks even smaller) so if you want to see it, you'll probably have to seek it out.

NOBODY ever talks about how Lincoln lorded it over the North; let's hope this at least touches on it.
