The Top 100 Songs Banned In China

The Top 100 Songs Outlawed in China

42.) The Backstreet Boys - I Want It That Way

Now I know they're bad, but come on China! They're not that bad! The freaking Backstreet Boys? Seriously? Do they have any idea how stupid and tyrannical this makes them look?

"Tracks by Eminem, Christina Aguilera and Kylie Minogue fell foul of a sweep by the ministry earlier this year. In April, officials said they would punish 14 sites that had provided illegal downloads. The ministry also controls events such as concerts. In 2006 it reportedly banned the Rolling Stones from singing such risque numbers as Let's Spend the Night Together and Honky Tonk Women when they played in China – though apparently Start Me Up slipped past the censors."

In other words, rap groups like NWA would never find much success in China. Songs like, "F@%k The Police," would have not gone over very well with the CPC.

Sorry, but I must do this....

I Want It That Way

And that's the way it should be, no matter how much you may be offended by the Backstreet Boys. Let's keep it that way, or else awesome posts on the DP like, "Time for my nightly jam session,"
will soon become outlawed as well. We will be restricted to posting only 2 government approved songs at one time, with a 4 post magazine cartridge per week limit.

For some reason, I suspect this might not be exactly welcome

For some reason, I suspect this might not be exactly welcome to air in China, either:

Or is it?

I don't know how I missed this post Zooamerica, but thanks for posting.

Where would the world be without music? Banning music is just as offensive as banning books.

2 government approved songs per night? NO! Never... I will not comply.
