Gun control and "prohibited persons"...

So now we see a video of prisoners locked up in a New Orleans prison shooting up, drinking beer, and showing off their cell phones and loaded firearm.

What can we determine from this video? I'd say that the idea that “certain persons” are not capable of owning a firearm because they are going to indiscriminately start shooting people is wrong. Here are some very desperate and dangerous people who have very little to lose shown using “restraint” with their firearm even though they are “mentally impaired” on drugs and alcohol.

So why do you suppose they HAVE NOT started shooting the guards and tried to get out of there? It's because they KNOW it's not going to end well for them. If they were to try something like that the black boots will come down on their heads and they will be dead in short order.

People use restraint with their firearms because the know OTHERS have them too and they don't want to have someone kill them. It's that simple. No background checks needed....

Do Daily Paulers have no opinion on this?

It seems like I hear crickets chirping here on this thread. With all the pro 2nd amendment talk here I would think that this idea that the "government" (I call "the goons") having ANY power to restrict a basic right like owning a weapon would have more discussion. Maybe there's no comment because everyone agrees with me? That would be a first...

I say let the criminals out. Let them all have guns.

There are more of us with guns than there are of them.

And as many youtube videos demonstrate most of the cops act worse than these crooks when confronted with evidence of their own guilt.

I would rather have responsibility to defend myself than to rely on a bunch of crooks with badges.

Exactly the point, thanks.

This whole idea that we need to keep guns from "group x" is faulty from the beginning. As soon as you limit "group x", "group y" is right behind followed by every letter of the alphabet. Soon only a very limited number of "approved" people are allowed to own a gun and everyone else falls into one or more of the "restricted" categories. Really, guns are self-limiting anyway. If you were to issue guns to everyone on the planet tomorrow morning, within a short time only responsible people would be left alive (if you believe as I do that MOST people fall into that category). All the clowns and losers would have either killed each other or died trying to kill some of the "majority" group (who would rightfully resist them).

Would there be some "innocents" killed? No doubt. Would it be as many as the innocents killed by "government"? Not possible...
