Harper's Mag: The Awakening - Ron Paul's Generational Movement

A friend of mine tipped me off to the big article in this month's Harper's:

Almost half a year later, the postmortems continue. After an election in which Republicans failed to capture the White House and lost several seemingly winnable Senate seats, in which their tenuous majority in the House was retained more by way of redistricting than by the will of the voting public, everyone within and without the G.O.P. agrees it has a big problem.

Some insist that the critical failure of 2012 was one of messaging, that the party will return to power not by changing its beliefs but by finding the right tone — and the right candidate — to articulate its current ones. “The Republican Party does not need to change our principles,” Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal — already positioning himself to be that candidate — told a meeting of the Republican National Committee in Charlotte, North Carolina, in January. “But we might need to change just about everything else we do.” Lest it seem he was taking the problem too lightly, Jindal continued: “We must stop being the stupid party. It’s time for a new Republican party that talks like adults.”

The picture with the Elbow Armbands with RP face is freaky

Is that a true picture? It looks so fascist and I am sure that is just the image the left loves to make of our R3VOLution.

The diminishing influence of

The diminishing influence of the mainstream media is going to be a big problem for the establishment going forward. The TV's main message is; Everything is man's fault and is to blame for even the weather and climate. People are tired of being yelled at and sold the hoax that everything is your fault and you have to pay for it.

Sub 1/4 million viewers of the MSM is the new normal.

full article without subscription. Good but a few jabs.

If Rand Paul and the Liberty Movement continue to challenge the Republican establishment on drones, drugs, and defense spending, and if the Democrats blithely carry on as champions of the status quo, this reshuffling can only gather speed. It may be starting on the local and state level, and it may not yet be finding expression in these terms, but the fight between the libertarians and the statists has begun, and it’s coming to an election near you.

I was interviewed by them in Tampa...

They interviewed me in Tampa beside my "Ron Paul Liberty Corvette" and said there would be a story but when it did not appear for a while I figured they shelved it. I would love to read it and I don't even mind paying to subscribe to read it if it's a good article. Anyone here have a subscription so they can read it and let us all know if it's any good?

Thanks.

Beware the cult of "government"...

who knows, it might inspire some readers to Google Ron Paul

and enter the wormhole!!

or as the author put it: "One
minute, you’re an average kid walking
down the street in Anytown, USA. The
next, you’re sucked through a wormhole
in the sidewalk and emerge in an alternate
reality of social engineering
through currency manipulation."

I did enjoy the article....some good quotes in there.

It is ok

Snarky, like Nicholson said above.

The Harper's audience is liberal, so keep that in mind when you read it. The article is intended for people who haven't kept up with events as those of us here have. So you likely won't learn anything new in terms of information - it is the outsiders perspective that is interesting. Hardcore Paul supporters are painted as religious zealots. But the conclusion is that the "Ron Paul movement is here to stay."

Read the article for free.

That link to the Author's page has the full article in .pdf form. No need to buy the subscription. But if you judge the magazine is actually giving fair coverage, consider a subscription.
