I need a lawyer
Submitted by wisen on Wed, 10/03/2007 - 19:53After watching Tucker Carlson tonight I sent off this email:
I demand an apology from that woman who was on your show today. As a matter of fact, I'd like to come on your show to rebut her comments.
I am a 64 year old woman with a 66 year old husband. My parents are DEAD! We are both Ron Paul supporters. We live in a very nice tri-level house in a lovely neighborhood. We have one daughter and she doesn't live with us. She is a homeowner and is also a Ron Paul supporter.
It's bad enough that you slander Dr. Paul. But don't slander his supporters. We are not public figures!!
I'm actually considering a lawsuit.
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
SO
Slander = saying of something false and damaging: the act of saying something false or malicious that damages somebody’s reputation.
By classifying all Ron Paul supporters as pimple faced nut jobs living in the basements of their parents homes they are making slanderous statements.
Are there any lawyers out there who have the inclination to raise a little hell with the major media? I thinking that a lawsuit might get us more respect.
Any takers?

It won't work
.
In order to prevail in either a slander or defamation case you have to be able to prove that you were harmed, or that your business suffered, or something like that. It has to be personal, about you, and that the remarks were intended to damage your reputation and were deliberately false or misleading. If your name wasn't mentioned in the broadcast, then there is nothing much you can do. Sorry!
Bear in mind also that the big media giants are, for the most part, controlled propaganda outlets. They are not going to say anything nice about Ron Paul or anybody connected with him. I am a little surprised at Tucker Carlson, however, since I thought he liked Dr. Paul.
Here's another idea
How about another idea? Why do we not petition the campaign to make campaign videos/commercials that show the diversity of Ron Paul's support. We all know its very broad.
Here's what we do...
"Official" should ask Ron Paul's supporters to film testimonials when they attend rallys. Kill two birds with one stone. Rally support, generate funds, and create advertising material. Well, I guess that's three. All they have to do is create a small video booth, and let the supporters go in for 2 minutes and explain why they support Ron Paul. That's it! Now they have all the footage they want. The "free-market" of supporters defines the message, and it can be edited to whatever the "official" campaign desires.
Not tooting my own horn but I think it would be a very successful and workable idea.

oh relax, it was a just a bad joke
One that you hear alot on certain trendy internet forums, like slashdot and K5, She was just trying to seem hip I think.
A few (hundred) strongly worded letters to Tucker should suffice. Besides, he said he supported RP in 1988, and I think he supports him to some extent even today, though he probably can't say it.
Actually, he has said it...
numerous times... And has done several favorable bits on us. After I saw one positive item, I started researching him, and then watching him regularly and he brings up Paul as often as I think he can get away and has openly stated he supports him and wish more people would, etc etc.
So *IF* anyone sends him an e-mail, please, make it polite and respectful. He has done a great deal to help us get the word out.

I'm with you, lady
My wife and I are 60 years old and I would dearly love to hurt someone who thinks that all Ron Paul supporters are young people. I am involved in the Meetup and have an A-frame on my pickup truck advertising Dr. Paul. He is the best thing that has happened to this country in about 125 years.
A Modest Proposal
As a paleo paleo conservative, I do not believe in civil suits. Anyone can tell you that lawsuits are unproductive and silly and get you nowhere. No, we must legalize dueling, especially amongst politicians.
I know this sounds radical, but I think this would solve a lot of problems. Aaron Burr had it right when he shot our first NeoCon. Things have been all down hill for the Republic ever since.
As a Virginia gentleman, currently residing in PA, I would gladly act on the behalf of any female Ron Paul supporter on the field of honor.
Mr. R.
media revolt!?!
wasnt there a media revolt a while back? congress passed a bunch of laws prohibiting the media from slander and liable? hmmm ill look it up
