Update from New Orleans
Submitted by ReCreation on Mon, 01/21/2008 - 19:06
I just went to see Ron Paul speak in New Orleans and there was a huge crowd that turned out to see him. The conference room was packed with standing room only. Dr. Paul delivered a great speech and said he was very optimistic about the Louisiana caucuses tomorrow. Many there said that Ron Paul has the best organization in the state and that he is the only candidate to have a full slate of delegates running in each district. They also emphasized how important the caucus is because the delegates will ultimately determine who wins the state. The most exciting thing was the crowd, the vast majority of whom were young, under 30. Keep your eyes on Louisiana tomorrow. It could deliver Dr. Paul his first win.

A win would be too sweet
Just to be able to say to all those doubters... see he can win... would be awesome.
Who dat say they understand this caucus? who dat? who dat?
Good Lord folks...I am from New Orleans and now live in Austin Tx....I am a ferocious Paul supporter and did not even know tomorrow was an La. caucus....This country has the most illogical primary/caucus system...geez...anywho....sent out an emergency email to all my folks in narlins...a call to arms. Wow, I was educated on the La system on a link below....No worries, I got TX down. Will be there with the proverbial bells!

I just spoke with my Mom and she said the events in Louisiana were great. My Dad and Mom had a great time and were really moved by the response. The Revolution is continuing and we need to get going to catch up. Quit believing the media and get to work talking to the people.
Robert Paul
Thanks Robert!
Your mom is terrific! We want a true first Lady in the White House!

Question for Robert Paul
Robert, first, thanks for your occasional posts; we really do appreciate them. And as far as the media, most of us don't believe most of what they say, and nothing about what they say about your dad. We know he has more integrity in one finger than the bunch of them could garner between them in a lifetime.
While you may not be privy to the campaign specifications, many of us Floridians are wondering if there will be any tv ads for this state as we are down to our last week. We have worked our tails off and think he may have a better chance here than reported. Many of the old-timers think that he will take their social security and won't vote for him. Only some tv ads, I believe, will change that. Do you know if there are any plans for them this week?
Thank you,

Louisiana ain't exactly like chopped liver
if you know what I mean. Real politics were born in Louisiana. That's where the Andrew Jackson met the British in a real sluggfest for America. I find it a little characteristic how the other candidates discount Louisiana..........I just hope our cajun neighbors rise to the cause and show the good Doctor a wave of support! I don't even mind saying

A louisiana win would be perfect fit
Since Andrew Jackson did sacrafice all to beat the British in Louisiana, against huge odds, and Jackson abolished the Federal Reserve for the first time when he was President, it would be quite fitting that Louisiana would be our first win. It may the omen we've been looking for. Come on Louisiana, be our hero!
By the way, as some of you know, Andrew Jackson despised the Federal Reserve and blamed them for his first Presidential bid loss......and blamed them for his wife's death. Indeed, he despised the the Fed and held true to his word and abolished them and the debt of the country. Except that he killed untold numbers of Indians, which he should be held accountable for, you have to respect the man for honoring his word to America.
Of course, we all know the blame goes to Woodrow Wilson for allowing the second coming of the Federal Reserve and the beginning of the end of America. Thanks Woodrow! Apologies won't cut it; may you roll over in your grave forever.

I'm from Chalmette, but now living in Florida.
I've heard that Walton and Johnson have basically endorsed Ron Paul. I have a lot of friends and family in the Parish that will be voting for Dr. Paul. Where is a link for the caucus location?
caucus location
St. Bernard Parish voters should report to the Morial Convention Center for the caucus tomorrow from 5p-8p. The official campaign website has a link to each state and the Louisiana link has a listing of all the caucus locations by parish.
Boudreaux and Thibodeaux
Would an endorsement from Walton and Johnson be better than an endorsement from Boudreaux and Thibodeaux? I'm sure W & J haven't been neo-conned too much in Houston, but I think they were funnier in Louisiana. No, actually, they are still funny, just not as free in their speech as they were in NOLA.

Boudreaux and Thibodaux
May Boudreaux, who you voting for in them republican caulk-asses tomorrow? Oh Thibodaux I don't know me, I can't remember any of their names. Oh Boudreaux, it's so easy I tell ya... all you gotta do is remember you momma's cousin from across da bayou named Ron, and your Clothilde's ex-husband Paul. You put em together, and you get Ron Paul.

this is good news
come on Louisiana, let's get Ron Paul some more delegates!
I still don't understand the ins and outs of caucus rules, but it seems like we have a better chance with these than in primaries.
good luck tomorrow LA.
500-600 showed up with only 1 day notice
The Who Dat Nation delivered a rousing chant of, "Who Dat, Who Dat say their gonna beat Ron Paul, Who Dat" which Dr. Paul stated was one of his best welcomes ever and made local TV news. It was a fun event in New Orleans, one that will only be topped by a caucus victory tomorrow.

I'd vote for that being one of the best welcomes I've heard of. I won't be so selfish as to request a video link, I've got a pretty good imagination and a bunch of friends in dat area of the woods.

just saw ron paul in baton rouge today
politepaulite
Baton Rouge Meetup only had two days to prepare for Ron Paul's meeting in Baton Rouge. He is an energic speaker, About 2000 supporters young and old listened and responded. There was media present, and KPLC mentioned his visit, only on their web page so far.
He shook hands with all who lined up, even though he had to be in New Orleans in 90 minutes. Looks like he made it.
I have only been home 2 hours, and have received 3 McCain phone calls, saying that he has been pro-life for 25 years and is the only person running that is qualified to run. Two were taped, from another state, and one was local. Then I got an email from a past governor of Lousiana asking us to vote for McCain. Today is the first time his name has been brought up. There are no signs for McCain. This push is from the media and GOP looking for someone to beat Hillbillery.
However as I was typing this I got a call From Ron Paul, that was informative and reminding us to vote tomorrow. This message was paid for by the Ron Paul.I had to donate again.

He shakes everyone's hand
That is one of the things that makes him so special. Each one of us is important to him. We are who he is fighting for. Let's fight for him and become precinct captains. Time is short!

Baton Rouge
I was at the Baton Rouge rally today and there were over 1000 people in the crowd. It was a super turn out. Dr. Paul took the time to shake every hand. It was great!

I don't understand...
I don't understand... there has been no mention of this caucus anywhere...
These sites says that its on Feb 9th:
http://news.aol.com/elections/primary/main/republicans
http://www.npr.org/news/specials/election2008/2008-election-...
Can anyone explain?
If this is true we need to get the word out or they will just ignore the results till after the Florida primaries...
The primary is on Feb 9th
The caucus that is being held on Jan. 22nd is a caucus for delegates. Louisiana does their elections differently than many states. The delegates are voted for tomorrow and then on Feb 9th, the primary takes place. If one candidate gets a majority of the vote on Feb 9th, all the delegates would go to that candidate. If no candidate gets a majority and the vote is close, then the delegates are free to vote for who they want and they are uncommitted delegates. Every state has a different process.
Thanks
Now lets get out the vote and win all the delegates.
can you see ron paul delegates voting for someone else?
regardless of who wins the primary?
Thank you for this
positive information we sure could use some more of that around here.
