From 1993: Pat Buchanan and Lew Rockwell take on NAFTA

C-SPAN Video Library
August 26, 1993

Conservative media personality and 1992 Republican presidential candidate Patrick Buchanan and other conservative figures spoke in a news conference to voice their opposition to passage of the North American Free Trade Agreement, legislation that would lower trade barriers between the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Mr. Buchanan announced the creation of the organization “Americans Against NAFTA,” and said conservatives should band together to put America first, noting his opposition to the pro-NAFTA stand of fellow conservative Jack Kemp. The speakers emphasized the trade pact would result in a loss of jobs and economic problems for the U.S.

Pat B is a smart guy, and a true Patriot. He is my all time 2nd choice for President that we never got, behind RP who is my 1st. Buchanan could have beat Clinton in 1996, he had been railing against NAFTA since 1993, he was winning union votes which is unheard of for a R in the last 100 years, but the establishment/elites knew he was no bankers boy, so they sat on him and "nominated" Dole.

*Wisconsin Constitution* Article I, Section 25 "The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other law-abiding purpose"

Appears he was correct, along with a few others debating the

topic at the time. So why is NAFTA still in place? Democrats and Union members? What about all that "retraining" for those high paying service sector jobs Clinton talked about?
Hell, just look at Detroit.

From a recent news article:

Police in Detroit last night announced the discovery of an
arms cache of 200 semi-automatic rifles with 25,000 rounds of
ammunition, 2 tons of heroin, 5 million in forged US banknotes
and 25 trafficked Latino prostitutes - all in a semi-detached
house behind the Public Library on Woodward Ave.

Local residents were stunned, and a community spokesman said:
“We're all shocked; we never knew we had a library."

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself.

Yes indeed.

That was very fascinating. Thank you jay0718 for posting this.

Correlation != Causation

By now it is common knowledge that multi-thousand-page documents outlining trade restrictions have nothing to do with actual free trade.

"When it all falls apart, we'll just get the idiots to blame free trade and soon they'll be demanding more government regulation."

Protectionism and mercantilism, of course, actually are crimes against humanity.
