St Charles MO 4/10/12

We had our county caucus redo, one year ago tonight. The hijacked raucous caucus drove me to work harder than I could have ever guessed. I had spent the last couple of weeks doing the door knocking thing. We kicked ass at the redo and took every single district and state deligate from our county. On Friday of that week we met at a local bar and Dr Paul called in over the bar sound system and congratulated us on our success. It was an amazing week.

1. I didn't remember off the top of my head, but after checking back through my emails, I was working on this flyer and preparing for our county conventions. Ron Paul was visiting San Antonio.

2. For me no. I'm excited now! I see 2016 as my initial deadline to make a million dollars selling these bad boys!

Yes I think it's possible to recapture the excitement, but not without putting in all the leg-work now through then.

3. I think this video I took in Austin answers this question quite eloquently:

(specifically at around 3:08, although the entire speech is pretty good.)

I'm a serial entrepreneur and liberty activist from Texas!

I remember

I was just finishing successfully organizing and executing the county convention in the county to the North of me, Mason, WA. We created a collation with Santrourm delegates and pushed our slate through narrowly on the last round of voting. This of course took place after moving the convention half way through the day across town.
I had just had a meeting in my County, Thurston and was looking forward to a sweep that would lead us to winning our Congressional district... But then Santrourm dropped out today and our hope was crushed.

When it was all done and said, the Thurston County Republican meeting that took place tonight and was chaired by a former Ron Paul delegate. We control several county parties and 44% of the WA State GOP. We will take it over at the next State convention in 2014. We learned tonight that the State chair is trying to stop the convention from happening because he knows the writing is on the wall.
The real battle now is at the school-board level and city councils. There are up to 60 or 70 positions on local County ballots, that is where the Liberty movement will win! Run for local office, as low as it goes. Get on a board that is by appointment, run for fire commissioner, dog catcher etc. I am excited right now, why aren't you fielding Ron Paul like candidates for every local office like we are? Get fired up, we are all Ron PAuL!!!

Answers: Q1.YES Q2.YES Q3.I DOUBT IT

Don't mean to be a downer, but there will never be another Ron Paul in my opinion.

He was a very special man whose star rose because those particular political environments allowed for it (in 2008 and 2012).

I tend to distrust most politicians at best and hate most of them at least.

So when I discovered such a principled man with philosophies of liberty as I had never heard before, it really fired me up politically to support Dr. Paul and the movement.

But now (sadly), I see Dr. Paul's legacy as similar in scope to that of Barry Goldwater's who, although he had a very loyal and energetic following (like Dr. Paul), was succesfully marginalized as a radical nut-job (like Dr. Paul), and his movement was defanged (like ours) pretty much for good.

Goldwater fought LBJ'S New Deal. He mobilized a large conservative constituency to win the hard-fought Republican primaries (We couldn't even get THAT far because the GOP is now a pseudo-liberal organization which proved to be Dr. Paul's BUGGEST HURDLE during both of his campaigns).

But Goldwater's campaign failed to gain the support of the electorate and he lost the 1964 presidential election to incumbent Democrat Lyndon B. Johnson by one of the largest landslides in history.

Johnson and other critics painted him as a reactionary, while supporters praised his crusades against the Soviet Union, labor unions, and the welfare state.

His defeat allowed LBJ and the Democrats in Congress to pass the Great Society programs (Does Obamacare ring a bell?).

Goldwater was much less active as a national leader of conservatives after 1964.

Yes I know, there is hope for Rand in the future, but I have very little faith that the GOP and the powers that be ever allow him to get very far (beyond a Senate seat).

So did we make a lasting difference?

To some people we did - and maybe still are to a degree (This site is one example of keeping some of the liberty movement alive).

But on the whole, the populace is too indoctrinated, apathetic and stupid to even KNOW what's really going on ie...

The FED's not going anywhere.

More wars will soon be started as even "conservatives" are pounding war drums on a daily basis.

We haven't stopped killing people in the middle east.

We haven't (nor will we ever) quit occupying the world with our military empire.

We still give away BILLIONS upon BILLIONS in foreign aid with no appreciable protest from the populace.

We still answer to the U.N., IMF, World Bank, WTO, Agenda 21, World Central Bankers etc.

The tax code is the same if not worse.

The CIA still runs rough-shod around the globe and now has its OWN AIR FORCE (drones).

Even at my local level of politics (in WA), we have a grand total of ONE liberty member of the State Legislature (State Representative Cary Condatta - 12th District Republican) who was a Ron Paul supporter.

So what has really changed?

But we do have some new friends from our involvement in Ron Paul's campaigns.

And we do have the DailyPaul!

"We have allowed our nation to be over-taxed, over-regulated, and overrun by bureaucrats. The founders would be ashamed of us for what we are putting up with."

Question One:

Does everyone remember what they were doing for liberty this week, last year? It seemed like there was so much hope for a real change in our country, thanks to Dr. Paul. It was an exciting time.

I honestly can't remember.

Question Two:

Do you think we will have to wait until 2016 to capture that excitement for change again? Is it even possible?

This is a funny question.. I have a meeting on Friday morning with a Ron Paul supporter here. I just moved back to Ohio. I want to build a coalition of people here in Columbus. Find a candidate to back or run for a state or city position. I want to build this coalition now, because midterms is where our small voice can reap the best rewards... and it can prepare us for Rands campaign in 16.

Final Question:

Did we make a lasting difference?

Absolutely. An eternal one that we all owe to Dr. Paul. Had he not run in 07.. or specifically took on Rudy in debate, I would still be asleep. Now I am active and alert. Im even going to try to convince my nephews to run for public service.

Great thread. :)

I will answer..

QUESTION #1 : One year ago, I was doing this...

QUESTION #2 : We better NOT wait until 2016, we need to get busy NOW for 2014 primaries!!!

QUESTION #3 ; Yes indeed we have IMPACTED the whole of the electorate with a lasting impression about what is wrong and what is right!

Peter Schiff just hung up the phone 25 short minutes ago with former Congressman Joe Walsh who just secured a radio gig on 560AM in Chicago; Peter Schiff is our Economist, of Ron Paul fame by association...he just camadelled Krugman a "comedian", correcting the green host who referred to him as an "economist"!

Here's Joe Walsh directly in front of me at last years Illinois Republican State Convention where I was a, State Chairman Pat Brady admits, they "didn't do a damn thing to help him" in 2010!

IMAGINE THE POTENTIAL FOR US if guys like Joe Walsh keep company with our ilk? We definitely made a lasting difference; and we ALL better bare the patriotism necessary to change the political will of this country on a historic scale!!!

Thanks for posting the

Thanks for posting the videos.I remember the first one from last year; it was good to see it again.

Boy, on that second video you really sound the horn. I think you make a good point about next year. You are right, people need to start thinking NOW about running for office, or get behind and support those who are willing to step up.

I don't what came over me, it was good....I agree....and I wish this forum would RESPOND and give it some attention....plenty of COMPLAINTS about Rand Paul, and so many other elected representatives, but NO PLANS or coordinated efforts as of yet to bounce them or get elected along side them???

Have we learned nothing the past 6 years? Do we disengage because Ron Paul is no longer a candidate? What happened to "I AM RON PAUL"?

I want Dick Durbin's U.S. Senate seat!!! about Standing with Rand! Who's gonna make that happen? How about a website for me, to gather signatures, starting NOW? If anything, I'm articulate and passionate about the movement; WE could get some PRESS, like our historic moneybombs did!

Everyone could HELP, from their keyboards....Sounds to me like we're cynical and resigned to our fate....what kind of attitude is that???
