They didnt ask judge Napolitano to confront him.

Watch for Glenn Beck and others that now like libertarian ideas

Watch for Glenn Beck and others that now like libertarian ideas to turn on Rand Paul during the 2016 race. Beck and others who have glommed on to the libertarian or tea party movement and who did anything they could to undercut Ron Paul during the 2012 election season are likely all just there to corrupt our ideas. As faith in 24/7 networks declines, the powers that don't want change are adapting and looking for tools to fragment, stunt, or minimize the libertarian populist movement. If Beck had really believed in even a third of what Ron Paul believes, no other candidate would have been good enough for him. Therefor, he is now lying.

I think you're right.

Beck is a gatekeeper for the Establishment and also a proven liar. I don't believe a word out of his mouth.

If he's allowed to hijack "Libertarianism," being a Libertarian will come to mean being an authoritarian Neo-Con.

He's the one changing his

He's the one changing his positions, not you or the vast majority of the liberty movement. He can do what he wants, no one seriously thinks he's a true libertarian, he's already a fringe figure as it is. If he wants to embrace some libertarian positions, good for him.

So if and when he does lie or distort facts

we'll let him know.

At this point, there are too many of us and our numbers are growing so he won't be getting away with much.

Fine, if he wants to come

Fine, if he wants to come over to the side of liberty I will welcome him but I don't accept people based upon their words, I look at their actions and he's got some proving to do.

Couldn't say something nice about Ron Paul ???

Wasn't a requirement, but as he was being questioned about the presidential candidates and also his transformation to libertarian-ism, he just couldn't get himself to say how right Ron Paul was in so many ways???? How could he not, since he's on board now?

I welcome Glenn, but under close scrutiny.

I think it is good that they did not.

In science, the first person to declare a revolutionary idea is ridiculed as a lunatic. The second person who repeats the same idea is heralded as a genius and awarded the Nobel Prize.

I don't think Ron Paul minds being a martyr.

Wait until he stops the drama queen stuff

The handful of Beck videos I've seen has him with all of that fake outrage and dramatic disgust or righteous indignation or crying, etc.

Most public libertarians (like Stossel himself, Stef, Schiff, Woods,) tend to show some humility, respect, curiosity and politeness. They self deprecate. Tell jokes. Our are polite and kind like the Dr.

I think you only have to act with all of that bullshitty drama Beck likes to use if you are actually saying something wrong/terrible/lie/nonsense.

If Glen Beck is self-professed liberty noob...

Why in the hell does he have a TV show that anyone should pay attention to? Shouldn't he take some time off, take some classes with Tom Woods, and return later when he is up to speed?

Congrats on the progress Glenn

I heard the begining of Hannity in the car the other day

I heard these things in the lead in to his show ...something like...

"Liberty is Popular"
"welcome to the revolution"

And then after he started his show he mentioned how he liked Rand Paul and Marco Rubio and Ted Cruise etc. And to put a cherry on top he called a some other republican a Neocon as if he wasn't one himself.

Bandwagon jumpers help up us by allowing the sleeping public to accept us long enough to listen to us. But they are in the end only chasing the liberty trend to stay relevant in the media.

I'd love to be wrong about Glen Beck, but that will have to be proven over time

If he's telling the truth

I know exactly where he's coming from. I used to have the same views. Once I saw that bumpersticker that said "Google Ron Paul" and took it's advice, my entire outlook changed over a period of a few weeks. My political views had been shaped by the MSM, specifically the nightly news, and in particular FOX. I did not even know I was being lied to. Once I started looking things up for myself, I started seeing things I never noticed, started doubting what I heard on the evening news, started changing my views because all of a sudden, my information was coming from a different source. People believe what they believe because of the information they have access to. If that information is flawed, so too will the thought process be flawed.

You make a good point.

I came from the 'left' media world, specifically NPR but eventually the self contradictory information kept accumulating and eventually I noticed and started to ask questions.

But on any particular issue it didn't take me too long to apply logic and the new knowledge I had to come to understand the reality of what was going on. Eventually I noticed it was almost always in agreement with Ron Paul.

But the point is.. it didn't take that long. It took you mere weeks. Beck's been in the political world for years.. he's been liberty 'leaning' for years.. how can you 'lean' to liberty for that long without getting it? He's not a stupid man. That he is such a 'slow learner' regarding liberty does make me suspicious because I don't think he's actually slow.

I tend to like Beck, if not politically, and I would love to see him on board.. but I'm not there yet.

Let him start fed bashing at every turn and then I'll trust. To me that's the sign. If you will defy that power structure (and not be a greenbacker) then you're ok. If you talk libertarian but never mention ending the fed.. you smell like controlled opposition.

Glenn will never be accepted within our ranks...........

He is to much pro Israel - He belongs in the "Israel can do no wrong" crowd, AIPAC, this makes him a Neo Con. The only way he can be a libertarian is if he hi-jacks the movement and redefines libertarianism to his brand.

the elephant in the room

not a mention. what gives?

if ever a public apology was in order.

I don't trust Beck

I don't trust Beck any further than I could throw Rush Limbaugh.

Beck is simply trying to get in front of the parade and steer it like he did with the tea party.

Resist the temptation to feed the trolls.

i think so too

Maybe he can spread new ideas within his audience. Not sure if they are the best advocates for the brand so-to-speak

There is a risk that the label "libertarian" will soon evoke the vitriolic response the "left" and "moderates" have been conditioned to feel when they hear the label tea party.

Good point. You get enough of

Good point.

You get enough of these neocon shills saying that they're libertarian over and over, pretty soon the uninitiated will come to think of libertarians and warmonger neocons as the same thing.

Resist the temptation to feed the trolls.

Actions speak louder than

Actions speak louder than words. You may be sincere Beck, but your previous actions have not supported what you are now saying. So, continue to take action, endorse and support liberty candidates in 2014 and 2016, and people will reevaluate.

"Where liberty is, there is my country." -Benjamin Franklin

Tom Woods

used to be a neocon....he openly admits it. People learn and change as they go through life...noone is born perfect.

Is Beck 100% on board with all of our beliefs? No...but he's moving in our direction. He's on national TV telling people he was wrong about stuff...I bet there aren't that many people here who would be willing to do that.

Besides that...just him talking about being a libertarian is getting thousands of people to actually pay attention to what liberty candidates are saying..instead of just writing them off as nuts.

Strange Timing....

Strange how his "turn" happened AFTER the last election and AFTER calling Ron Paul supporters crazy.

It will be very telling when he supports Rand Paul over a Libertarian.

An impressive start for a

An impressive start for a religious conservative. Glenn not promoting the war is a wonderful beginning for him. Ending the Wars and the FED would help our nation greatly. Admitting he was wrong is the only place to start. I welcome Glenn and hope he continues to promote liberty to all his viewers. Thank you Glenn for attempting to improve yourself.

How can you trust a Neo Conservative chameleon, when he keeps on changing his colors when it's political expedient to do so. Don't you remember the Debra Medina political sabotage when she was running against Rick Perry, not to mention all the about face he did on Ron Paul and his followers, at one time pretending to support him then stabbing him on the back. Saying only conspiracy nut jobs follow Ron Paul, never mind conspiracy research... that's all he delves in today even plagiarizing Alex Jones conspiracy research. This guy can never be trusted. Never forgive, never forget.

Debra Medina

I love Debra Medina! I wish she were Governor of Texas instead of the neo-con Perry we have now! Texas would be a MUCH better place to live!

i understand

The venom being directed at Beck. I'm still willing to give him a chance.

'Peace is a powerful message.' Ron Paul

It took me a while too.

I voted for Kerry in my first election because as a teenager I thought the Dems were going to save the poor from the evil Reps. Then I switched and voted for Bush next because I realized I wanted to keep my money that I was working for and thought the Reps would protect me against the Dems stealing from me. But whichever party I was voting for there were too many things that didn’t square for me, but I just figured ‘you can’t have your cake and eat it too’. Then I started listening to Tom Woods, then Ron Paul, then Peter Schiff and so on and realized there was a philosophy that squared with everything I TRULY believed. But even as I navigated my way into the liberty movement I didn’t jump head first. The Drug War was huge thing for me. I was still one of those “well I don’t want people doing heroine” people. It took me a while realize my own hypocrisy on certain pet issues. So I’m willing to give GB the benefit of the doubt. Even if he is just faking it now for ratings or whatever, perhaps some of his listeners will be more encouraged to give freedom a chance. I don’t think this is an all or nothing movement. Let people get on the train of liberty and let them ride as long as they want. If they choose to get off before you then so be it but at least they came a little closer. And they can always get back on whenever they want. We all came to this in our own way and in our own time so I would caution not to be so quick to condemnation. If we are always so skeptical of others intentions or commitment then we will never spread our true message because we’ll never find anyone ‘pure’ enough.
As an aside. Those clamoring for an apology to RP and his supporters from GB I think are wasting your time. Not only is it not going to happen but also it doesn’t change anything. Beck acted like at D-Bag towards Ron and us but that’s in the past. I don’t see RP out there saying “unless Glen Beck apologizes to me he will never be a libertarian”. I don’t know Ron but he doesn’t strike me as the type to make anyone kiss his ring. I would imagine he would be thrilled to have someone else out there teaching and helping move this country in the right direction.
