you're welcome.

as for the MSDNC clip, I just put it there as a contrast, and however distasteful, just to alert and allow DP members to be vigilant of the specific type of smears that's going around.

though admittedly, if you've seen one MSDNC race-card smear you've seen them all. lol.

Bashir's seg was from yesterday, but I'm sure MSDNC will spin it tonight. I'll post updates as I find them as they become available.

by the way Mayor Mike, ya modest man you: did you know Meg posted a brief reaction of you at the Silver Circle premiere?

check it out.

The last question

The guy wants a government that doesn't define him by his FAFSA. I worked as a financial aid counselor at a state college. The government created the FAFSA!!! Its a free application for federal student aid. The whole point of the form is to define and classify you based on your income to determine if they are going to give you aid or not. Poor kid has no clue.

And of course, the day would not be complete without MSDNC pulling off a 'racist'-card smear vs. the Pauls:

Only caught the end of the Q+A

My thoughts on the two question I heard Rand answer:
He is a much better politician than Ron was. The problem though, is that it is really disappointing. A student said that he wants gov't go give him student loans so he could go to college and that he doesn't want the gov't to leave him alone.

This is is where he had a great opportunity to explain that by gov't providing loans to everybody in the country to go to school it drives up the price of college. He didn't say this. What he said was that gov't can be in education, but we should only spend what gets brought in. He said we shouldn't borrow money from china to pay for everyone to go to school b/c we will be laying all this debt on kids who have few job prospects after college.

Idk, I think Ron would have had a much better answer. But then again, this is why Ron never stood a chance, because he told the whole truth.

JoJ02455 Agreed. I caught the

JoJ02455 Agreed. I caught the last 2 questions also. The former was some guy that was in NOI and wanted to know if Rand supported opening up the Malcolm X Files, and then something about giving the Nation of Islam there own land, weird audience reaction, Rand seemed surprised and didn't really answer, kind of stammered out something along the lines of "We should all be equal under the law" The 2nd guy was a right out Socialist/Commie saying "He wanted the gov to take of him and provide school" Rand said something about balancing the budget, i think he did a decent job and kudos for going there, it's the 1st white Rep to go there since Bush 1 in 1981 as VP. Someone should upload the whole thing if anyone has it...

Well..

The 1st question I saw was the question about a muslim nation in the US. I had no clue what he was talking about and I don't think Rand did either.

In terms of the 2nd question, I don't necessarily think that he was a socialist/commie. What the liberty movement needs to be focused on is conveying, especially to kids, that money the gov't provides does not come out of thin air but out of the wallets of taxpayers or by borrowing from other countries. You say he is a commie, but in all honesty, I think he just doesn't understand. I think Rand did a good job, but man, I wish he did a better job of explaining to this kid why he is wrong. Politicians can't do this though, because they would never garner support. Well done Rand.

Rand Paul

Good Job!

I think he did a good job trying to reach out.

He dropped the ball on the Monsanto thing though. He ought to do this type of thing more often. I also think he really scores points when he call out neocons and old guard republicans. This is the way that we can get people to become interested in liberty. Calling out BOTH parties.

Lammentable but predictable

Monstanto is only on the fringe agenda. Environmentalism barely qualifies as a weak plank in our ideology. We're not running a libertarian to begin with here, we're running with the GOP. It's here to SERVE Monsanto.

Be brave, be brave, the Myan pilot needs no aeroplane.

Rand is doing Q and A. How

Rand is doing Q and A. How could he not know about the Monsanto bill?

that was very disappointing

I was shocked that he wasn't aware - maybe he needs to read the DP more often :-)

I hope that's the case. I wonder why Ron never spoke at Howard? As good as Rand is, I feel like Ron could have really wowed them.
