Human Life Amendment

Does anyone here know if Ron Paul opposed a Human Life Amendment to the constitution, and if so, what were his reasons to oppose it?

NO MORE WEDGE ISSUES

Let's not talk about abortion on this site. I know Ron Paul is not helping by campaigning more aggressively on it...but as you can see it is a wedge for the grass roots too!

Thoughts for Kate and Let's Find Ways to Support Ron Paul

I don't agree with Ron Paul on a few things, different from yours, but I am so glad that we are voting for him. I know that this is an open forum and we are adults who can exchange our opinions on matters; however, I would like to encourage restraint on the telling people to be in a different camp. That is counter productive to your own goals if you are voting for Ron Paul. Let's express our opinion, especially as it helps people understand Ron Paul's position and explore our own opinions further, but after disagreeing, let's thank each other for supporting Ron Paul.

I am a Christian that you could say the same thing to on the abortion and gay rights issue as you said to the other person. There is a lot I could say, but I would like to point out for purposes of supporting Ron Paul regarding this, is that this issues shows so well how he respects the Rule of Law. He is focused on what the Federal government should do according to the limits placed by the Constitution. We never should have had any penumbra rights in the constitution to create a right to privacy or a right to an abortion. Because as soon you go there or do anything else along those lines, you lose the rule of law that the constitution was given for. And we are paying the price for that in so many areas.

Go Ron Paul! May we return to the Rule of Law again with are elected officials respecting the restraints placed upon them under our laws.

I totally agree...

With my support of Ron Paul and the alliances among us..

But please...Don't say we shouldn't have a right to privacy...Isn't that why we're against the national ID and the Protection Act?

Because

It's unnecessary. RP opposes an amendment because it's a waste of time. Congress can take the decision out of the Federal Courts, thus handing the decision back to individual states (where it should be) with a simple Act of Congress.

If people would take personal responsibility for their actions abortion would need never occur (IMHO).

"Many of us agree that you and I have no right to use coercion against people who don't owe us anything. The same prohibition applies to groups of people who constitute the government. The reason is simple: unjust acts do not become just when legalized. "

Paul's stand on Pre-born Life

Libera me, let the truth break, what my fears make--Leslie Phillips

Some very good information can be found on a slim-jim, for Life and Liberty.
In Congress, he authored a bill seeking to define life as beginning at conception--HR1094

He also was the prime sponsor of HR 300- which would essentially give the decision back to the states.

He authored HR 1095, which prevents Federal funds from being used for "population control"

But that man should play the tyrant over God, and find Him a better man than himself, is astonishing drama indeed!~~D. Sayers

There is no difference between an authoritarian government from the right or the left...F. A.Schaeffer

What is

the Human Right Amendment?...If it has to do with abortion then he supported it probably..Sad..I am pro-choice...It was one of only two issues I disagree with Dr. Paul on...the other is gay marriage...I believe that we should simply stay out of peoples private lives and choices, just like we should stay out of other countries and mind our business.

not true he sees peoples individual rights ,gays have no rights!

as a group, nor do any other groups just people!lets be real here the fight is that gays that have jobs want benefits for life partners not that you cant have a paper notorized,or a celebration or call your relationship a marriage?so stop thinking that it is the our or RPs job to deal with your problem If I recall correctly myrll lynch is leading the fight against this benefit for life partner rights so stop them go work for someone who cares about its workers its your choice.I dont get benefits at my job and i must live with that im not crying so buck up fags America is under attack and you are worried about benefits?

Actually

He is pro-life, but wants to leave that decision up to the individual. As far as abortion, under his ideal, it would be sanctioned on a state-by-state basis, with no Federal rules on it. The same with same-sex marriage.. he has repeated time and time again in interviews that it should be up to the individual, and the state.

~Live life to its fullest, with an open heart, open arms and most important... an open mind~

Sorry...

I new to his campaign and haven't heard many interviews where he was allowed to speak on that issue..I only understood that NARAL gave him a zero rating because of his pro life stance and voting record...But..If it would be designed this way then I see some hope for women who find themselves in bad situations, as well as for gay couples who want to form a permanent union...better than Chuckabee (He looks like Chuckie Cheese when he smiles) who would amend the Constitution based on his religious tenets.

Pay no

attention to Gilgamesh.

I'll bet Ron Paul has his position on this expressed on his official site somewhere.

Ugh!

Sorry to hear you are pro-murder and pro-sodomy Kate. Those two abominations are part of reason why America is in the shape it is in...

We have murdered more humans with abortion than all the wars since the earth came into being...

That's

a very narrow minded and judgemental position you take...are you sure you wouldn't be better off serving in Huckbee's camp with his evangelical rantings...Sure sounds like it to me.

It's not a matter

of "judgemental" or "narrow-mindedness", or Huckabee-ism. The question is "Is this a human life?" and after you answer that the decision is simple. Ask Dr. Paul, he'd tell you.

very narrow minded and judgemental position

Kat someone has to stick up for the unborn and if that's "very narrow minded and judgemental position" to you so be it.

Okay...I'm taking the bait ...

Here is my position...I am for everything that Dr. Paul addresses with the exception of two issues...He will get my vote regardless...BUT..I am a free thinker...I do not believe or endorse organized religion...which is the basis of the argument for the banning of abortion and homophobia...In a society of true self government, choices and their outcomes would rest soley upon the conscience of the individual....Good or bad...In this, I believe that we should not involve ourselves in the bedrooms and wombs of those who have to make choices and live with them...

That is TRUE self government.

I agree with you completely.

I agree with you completely. :)

Whew...

Thanks...I was beginning to think I was alone in this.
