Skippy Has Decided To SKIP Posts About Moral IssuesSubmitted by skippy d on Thu, 04/11/2013 - 06:02
I love DP.
It shows no doubt by the amount of time I spend here when I really should be doing other stuff.
Problem is I am bound to a disabled person and don't get to leave the house much. I spend a lot of time on DP day and night and would feel lost without it.
It really bothers me to see so many posts that tug at heartstrings here but I don't deny anyone the right to post them because it is after all what freedom is about isn't it?
What bugs me is the posts that tend to divide us rather than bring us together. Moral subjects are, and have always been tools to divide and conquer by tptb and it is working nicely here on DP. It's okay to debate, but I see more fighting than debating and it's destructive.
I too have gotten caught up in doing so and I feel ashamed of it but sometimes I just can't keep my mouth shut anyway. The point is, I don't like being like that and I don't want to keep falling into the moral issues trap.
So, I have decided to stop reading posts about religion, gays, abortion, immigration, animal cruelty, and other stuff that CAN'T and WON'T change anything or anyone for the better. These are issues of the heart and have to be addressed on a personal level IMO.
I have what I consider to be more pressing things to worry about like all the executive orders Obama has passed since he took over, (If you read them they will scare the hell out of you) GMO contamination, gun bans, Obamacare, the economy, the surveillance cameras on top on every streetlight where I live (rural Arkansas no less) people living in tents, the corporate takeover of the whole freaking world, and all the other BIG TIME issues out there.
Being able to argue about moral issues is at stake here and everyone gets sidetracked on those issues instead of worrying about the ABILITY TO argue about them!
Okay, I am done, nuff said I guess.
