"Pill Haters", Turn it up to full blast, Let's Take Their Cars.

A recent post lamented that "pill haters" are responsible for a new push to disarm persons taking SSRIs and other drugs. I hadn't picked up on this but apparently the new NY SAFE Act requires mental health providers inform authorities of patients taking them.

New York has begun such confiscations. First cases are emerging. It's happening.

I must admit, I hadn't considered "blaming the other" in our pointing out it's not libertarians with guns killing people in mass shootings, it's people on SSRI's with guns killing people in mass shootings. More specifically it's YOUNG PEOPLE on SSRI's with guns killing people in mass shootings.I guess I hadn't thought through the ramifications of it not being COMPLETELY OBVIOUS that young people on these drugs are best kept away from firearms.

As I thought it COMPLETELY OBVIOUS that we need to keep spreading the word these drugs are very, very DANGEROUS and that people taking them need to be monitored. These meds need to be adjusted, these people need help beyond meds to recover or compensate.

To those of you on these meds such preaching comes a little late. And I'm not gonna suggest these drugs aren't helpful to some people or that they have legitimate applications. What I am gonna suggest is the law be evenly applied and perhaps you can get behind this one.

If you can't own a gun on these pills why should you be able to own a car? A much more deadly object in our society and while we're at it, let's go ahead and deprive these people of hammers, baseball bats and knives. I think that takes care of the top 5 or so objects most commonly used to kill people.

Here's where the fun comes in. See we all know how prevalent these drugs are and the higher you go up the income scale the more likely you are to find them. Judges, cops, politicians, clergy, school teachers, half the nation is knocked up on this stuff.

No more guns, no more driving, no operating potentially dangerous equipment (says so right on the bottle), no kitchen knives, let's just rule out sports altogether, no smoking no drinking no sex.

Yeah I just threw sex in there for good measure. You always have to have a bargaining chip to throw away in negotiations. And warning, possible side effects of this treatment might be waking up and realizing that when you take rights from others you eventually lose them yourself.

Now to get warmed up, before we start drafting proposed legislation and we fire up the petitions, I suggest we all spend at least 5 minutes a day screaming BUT IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN into the mirror at the tops of our lungs for at least five minutes a day.

Poster jbkibs warned me that this whole discussion is a slippery slope but we're already sliding. Sometimes when you are sliding down a slippery slope the only way to regain control is to hit the gas.

Even with there being victims

Even with there being victims of some crazy person on SSRI's, you still have a better chance of being struck by lightning twice in the same year. Being ruled by victims emotions is not the way to deal with the situation.

i completely get what your saying.

Cannot have one form of extremity and ignore the rest of the problem. But, the sad part is, it was probably only a matter of time before they did go to these extremes. Just, after they win the current battle is when the nanny state finally says, ok now that we've sufficiently demoralized these people and stolen their liberties let's keep going further. It's easier for them to keep writing new laws instead of logically going about it.

Homeland security statement: patriotism is now considered terrorism.
I love shared it with everyone I know. If anything they realize its not just a red and blue idiot running for reelection.

seems to me that was the tactic when the guys were trying to pass legislation forcing women to get invasive ultrasounds and stupid stuff like that. They fought back by submitting legislation forcing procedures on men. So, yeah, it makes sense Smudge.

The whole medical profession has been entirely wiped out by insurance companies and politicians.....and that's not the half of it. The individual has been violated, the individual who is supposed to have control over their own life.

Let justice be done.

Doping is a well known passtime in congress.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most people who think sew actually rip.

No pretense of doctor-patient confidentiality anymore

You tell your doc and the Feds are listening. Not a peep of protest from the medical community on this trashing of a historic ethic.

Most of those who think so actually don't and most people who think sew actually rip.

Ya know, they used to have these places called mental hospitals

where the ability to do all that you mentioned was heavily curtailed and meds were monitored.

Granted, that gave the government a shady spot to do their MK Ultra mindfrakking and experimentation. However, dumping the mentally ill out to wander around living the hobo life has its own set of problems. The jails are full up because half the people there would have been put into a mental hosptial a couple of generations ago. My stepdad is a jailer and says after their two week meds runs out that they get at the jail, they do something nuts and wind up back in jail again.

The original idea for mental hospitals in this country was a self-sustaining operation where the patients worked the land and made their own clothing, etc. I remember seeing an interview from a nurse who spoke to some of the old timers who had lived under that system and how much they missed their "jobs", after the ACLU came in and said that was slavery or something. That ushered in the age of sitting in a dayroom all day with nothing to do but get more nuts.

Here's one of my favorite sites showing what the mental hosptials look like now-really cool photography!

I say take there guns.

They have given authority over themselves to big pharma and the medical industry. If they are that stupid then they shouldn't be trusted with guns. And like you say it should go all the way to the top.

Legal murder! We need a pill for FDD - "Fucktard Dystopian Disorder." Are you suffering irresistible urges to rule over other people? Do you love the taste of jackboot polish? Do you demand the right to send other people's children half way around the world to kill other people's children so you can feel "safe?" If so, there's a pill for you! When used as directed, you will choke on it and die taking the first pill. If you manage to swallow it, side effects include death, rigor mortis and decomposition.
100% guaranteed to cure Fucktard Distopia.
There's a pill worth developing....

Good post Smudge

It does bring up a good point - how many officers are currently using medications while on duty?

I think we need to make sure no law enforcement official can take ANY medication that may affect mood or judgement. This should also extend to alchohol, since according to the DARE program - alchohol is a drug too.

LOL- can you imagine - no drinking 48 hours before a shift.

Most cops are into the steroids - "Roid rage" earns vacations.

Awwww - did copper kill an innocent granny for running a stop sign? Poor baby, so much stress! You need to take a few days off, with pay. When you come back, we'll promote you and give you a medal for courage in the face of scary grannies.

Rather than going through all

Rather than going through all those legislations, I'd recommend just locking 'em all away =)

Oh yeah should be a top down thing.

These laws being enacted at the state level, I'd like to see enforcement start with the governor's office.

Good point- on the SSRI

Good point- on the SSRI Stories website, there were more road rage incidents than gun incidents.

We all share this eternally evolving present moment- The past and future only exist as inconsequential mental fabrications.
