I Move that We The People Banish the District of Columbia from The United States of America

Obvious truths as clear as black and white are few and far between. Among the most recognizable and easily apparent of these truths is that we are all equal sovereign individuals endowed at birth with our sovereignty Rights. Our founders made it clear that Government's purpose is to protect and defend these rights and by violating those Rights a Government ceases to be valid. The increasingly painful truth that Government officials consistently violate the oath of office has become my utmost concern for my future well-being and safety. The lack of proper Constitutional consequences and utter disregard of Constitutional law by our Governors in Washington D.C. fuels this motion.

As a result of those concerns, I move to banish all treasonous Federal Government officials and remove the District of Columbia from The United States of America. The Constitution will stand and all Government officials proven to have upheld their oaths of office will hold their office. All subsequent elections will follow The Constitution and all other matters and powers not enumerated in The Constitution shall be left to the states, or the people.

As a result there will be no national capital of The United States of America. The new Government will proceed according to the Constitution but through internet technology keeping a perfect record of proceedings while simultaneously providing incredible transparency. Since the people in power are spread all over America it will be much more difficult for the political lobbyist machine to manipulate and control our politicians.

We the People shall be Big Brother to Government, not the other way around. We shall watch Governments every move and know all of Government's business. Can I get a second?

We could also get better representation

You have excellent ideas there, No.7!
Madison threw out the Amendment Mason wrote suggesting representation. Having proper representation would also increase the number needed for the electoral college as the 2 are tied together. The EO was stymied by Congress' arbitrary 435 number.
Original 1st Amendment:
"After the first enumeration required by the first article of the Constitution, there shall be one Representative for every thirty thousand, until the number shall amount to one hundred, after which the proportion shall be so regulated by Congress, that there shall be not less than one hundred Representatives, nor less than one Representative for every forty thousand persons, until the number of Representatives shall amount to two hundred; after which the proportion shall be so regulated by Congress, that there shall not be less than two hundred Representatives, nor more than one Representative for every fifty thousand persons."

Had the amendment been ratified, the number of members of the House of Representatives could by now be over 6,000 compared to the present 435. If they met via internet, that fair representation wouldn't be a problem. It would also discourage those fiends from ganging up into groups of 8 or whatever number they gang up as. We also need to do away with political parties. What about a limit as to what a candidate can spend on their election? Or then no one candidate can spend more than the other candidates unning for a seat? How can we stop politicians from being leashed by the corporatists and banksters?

If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.

It should be equally proportionate to the Constitution

Thanks STM!

Mason's Amendment could have been a great thing and it ties in great with the idea of a eGovernment. I think the best part about it is that the elected will actually live in their district making it easier for the people to let them know how they feel about certain things. I don't know if we can ever stop bankers and corporatists from interfering with politicians but removing a centralized place of power will make it much harder for the corporations to lobby and influence all politicians.

Ahhh, but...

If DC were to become a State of the Union then it would have to have a "republican form of government" as guaranteed by the Constitution. It would have to have its own constitution which would have to be ratified by it's people. US citizens would then have the protections of a State under Common Law. The United States would still maintain ownership of its land and buildings, but it would loose its jurisdiction over the land. It would be become merely another of many corporate inhabitants on the land of the new State.

Following DC, Guam, Puerto Rico, American Samoa, and the US Virgin Islands should become States as well. (Tell me if I'm missing a territory.)

D.C. could be it's own new state

Or Maryland and Virginia can fight over who gets custody.

I assume the winner would auction off federal buildings as the new federal meeting place would be the internet.

The District of Columbia

The District of Columbia Incorporated pays no tax to its host country. I say we first start taxing them.

The richest people in America live right around D.C.

That's a good idea, let's get all of our money back that Uncle Sam has stolen with the unconstitutional 16th amendment.

I second that

I think I have just the algorithms we need...

If there are developers or people with resources here on DP that want to develop THE bitcoin version of alternative government then please let me know. I guarantee the concepts I have will blow your mind.

Awesome

Information Technology is a tremendous weapon for liberty that we need to start taking advantage of.

I'm no code or algorithm expert but you have my attention and I'd like to hear more.
