Something Smells Fishy with this RonPaulRewards.com site...
Submitted by SeanW on Tue, 01/22/2008 - 01:23
Does anyone else have a feeling that something isn't right with this website and supposed discount program? It's raising red flags all over the place with me in the "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" category.
What do we, anyone here, know about this organization. Who founded it? Who owns it? How is the money managed? Etc.
I fear that a lot of people will jump on this bandwagon only to get ripped off and look like fools. Which would be pretty bad for the whole Revolution.

I just went by...
And that joint screems rip off. Trust your gut on this one folks, do not give these guys any money. They don't even have a "contact us" tab/button, how would you cancel your membership if you wanted to?
Name on website, haven't been contacted.
I just found out the other day we have been listed on this site. We haven't been contacted by the owner or anyone else associated with this site. It does seem fishy from what I have read about it online in different forums. I will attempt to contact this guy and see what the deal is. If it's fishy or we never receive any contact we will report back.

Likely Scam...
I am very suspicious of that site, too. Any place that requires you to pay $49 to become an "affiliate" is shadey.
Consumer beware. I wish I could remember the latin for that phrase.

THIS IS A SCAM
for every 2 million they raise for Ron Paul they rake in 37 million for themselves. THEY also decide how to spend the 2 million, not the campaign
I don't know much but there are plenty of people talking about
RonPaulRewards.com on the RonPaul.meetup.com message board
http://ronpaul.meetup.com/boards/view/viewthread?thread=4058783
Even disclaiming my lack of first hand knowledge I'll put in my two bits..
Who founded it? Don't know
Who owns it? Don't know
How is the money managed? Don't know other than what they say at:
http://ronpaulrewards.com/projects
"Etc." isn't a question.
What is known is that they exist (on a web site at least), that they have paid for advertising on the RonPaulLimo.com and that they have had at least one unflattering article written speculating about them and the value of their product.
I've seen the Ron Paul Limo. I've also seen the video of Ron Paul signing it and I am impressed with the message "Ron Paul Revolution" that is being put out via the really-long-limo with a really big Ron Paul Revolution on both sides for at least 20-30 feet.
As for too good to be true - I would say that about the Ron Paul limo except I've seen it live and in person with my very own eyes.
As for RonPaulRewards.com, I hope they have a good product and I hope that should someone sign up for their program that they will offer up their opinion as to whether it is worthwhile or not.
I have been researching the topic and I haven't come across any net postings of unhappy customers. Perhaps there aren't any.
I haven't come across any happy customers either but that just goes to say that there is plenty of chatter about that business, some bad and some good. Only time (and perhaps actual customerhood) will tell whether the service offered by RonPaulRewards.com is worth the offered price.
If you get the chance to see the Ron Paul (Revolution) Limo, I strongly encourage you to do what you must to find it and get some good pictures out about it on flickr.com (and for gosh sakes release it to maximize distribution with a Creative Commons license [e.g. Don't let it default to all rights reserved.]).

That's got to be the most
That's got to be the most blatant profiteering off Ron Paul's name I've seen to date. They have absolutely no business using his name without permission like that.
That's got to be the most blatant profiteering off Ron Paul
I wonder why Ron Paul signed the limo then? Could it be that one giant limo with Ron Paul Revolution plastered all across both passenger and driver sides of the limo might - just might - help his campaign?

A few thoughts at first glance
I read the Jeff Rense article initially calling it a scam. It has been updated with several comments since. You should definitely read it:
http://rense.com/general80/ronspp.htm
It is an MLM disguised and tied to the Limo thing. When the limo was brought up in a previous thread "krushing" was the only one who spoke up to defend it as he has in this case.

I'm not going to call it a scam, you are paying for a service. It just seems like a good way to make one guy rich who may or may not give proceeds to Dr Paul. He is using Dr Paul's name and likeness to make this money and I kinda frown on anyone doing this.
Totals for the last quarter are not out yet, but as of Oct 1 he had donated $474 to the campaign.

At first review
"It is an MLM disguised and tied to the Limo thing"
Is it an MLM? Let me be direct here. I don't know and I don't particularly care.
Is is "tied to the Limo thing"? Yes it is. It is called advertising. Will RonPaulRewards.com make a profit? I sure hope so that they can pay for a second Ron Paul (Revolution) limo.
Any business is "a good way to make one guy rich" or in more neutral terms a business is a good way to make a profit. Said one guy may be doing more to spread the Ron Paul (Revolution) message more than the average Joe (nothing wrong with being an average Joe now). I wish there were three Ron Paul (Revolution) limos with RonPaulRewards.com plastered on a few times. Frankly I wish there were 30 (or 50 - 1 to a state) Ron Paul (Revolution) limos - don't you?
If Ron Paul isn't frowning on the limo or it's advertisers I would hope that the Ron Paul and Ron Paul Revolution supporters would give RonPaulRewards.com an even shake here.
Businesses in general offer a service that works to everyones benefit, especially the free rider, which in this case is the Ron Paul campaign and the Ron Paul Revolution both of which haven't had to pay 1 plumb nickel for the benefit of having a giant limo driving across the nation.
Go RonPaulLimo.com!

I know a little about it.
I know a little about it. The founder of it is legit -- he's independently wealthy. As far as I know, all the funds are used for Ron Paul projects. I believe the founder/owner has given thousands to support RP.
It's not a scam. It is what it says.
May be "legit" Discount Program?
Hi,
I crawled some links from the site and got to the bottom of the program here...
http://www.accessdevelopment.com/customer-loyalty-card.asp
and more like what this is...
http://www.accessdevelopment.com/non-profit-fundraising-idea...
Access's BBB Report...
http://utah.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Report.aspx?site=139&bbb=1166&fi...
Access Development markets private label discount programs. Sort of a "Your Name Here" Affiliate Program. Sounds like they do all the work.
I don't see what the actual costs are. Did RonPaulRewards jack up the prices to increase the available donations/or personal gain? or are the playing it straight?
I agree, the RonPaulRewards people should be more upfront on how this works. The MLM part might be a little dicey, some MLMs are pretty good, others???
Check out the discounts offered and if you think you can save more than the membership fee, what the heck! You can always cancel after the elections. "YMMV"
