An entire city stopped for a 19 year old kid

Is this what America has come to? Granted, I understand he may be armed and have explosives, but I think this is a bit much shutting down an entire city for a 19 year old kid who is probably shaking in his boots right now.

They are certainly displaying fear and the "Police State" in force, don't you think?

This makes a good argument for the gov't to make in regards to chipping all of us like cattle.....they can promote it by saying "...well if he only had a chip in him, we would have found him immediately".

Let's see what the administration says on how we need to "protect" ourselves going forward....chips, TSA agents, bag checks, cavity searches, warrantless searches of property....it is coming.

Or maybe if citizens of Boston were actually allowed to be armed, the city wouldn't need to be shut down and citizens could help out....ridiculous.

I think tanks and grenades are a bit much, no?

Not judging here..just think the reaction is a little overboard.

Sure, the security agencies are militarized and armed

to the teeth

Perfect opportunity for them to break out their toys gathering dust for so long, no surprise there. But the people in the Boston area want this guy caught and will make even the smallest gesture to help, such as staying inside to keep the streets clear to let the police play manhunt. Perhaps the flip side of this sans police presence might be an angry mob and potential riot situation, where many more people could get hurt. Not to justify the tanks and grenades, of course, but if there is one place an angry mob could coalesce to catch someone accused of this crime it's Boston. These people don't play, police and civilians alike. You can ask any Yankees fan that's been to a Red Sox game, they would agree.

It was quite a show!

The real truth about what happened in Boston may never be known. It was quite a show though! Tanks, Helicopters, bombs, grenades, automatic machine gun fire....town on lockdown, code reds, code blacks...etc...etc.... Yeah, never mind it was two boys they were after...those boys were those dreaded "extremist" types, they are super powerful, remember Lanza, the 120 weakling who could carry his own body weight, break through doors, and unload a round every 2 seconds (average time including clip changes), with pin point accuracy....all victims dead.

What is clear is that there is now justification set for an increased police presence in the United States. Israeli forces were in Boston as well, I think they are just boiling the water slowly to keep too many frogs from trying to jump to freedom.

Makes me wonder what the rest of April will bring. I think turning the US into a police state before the banker's collapse is paramount.

So true!

It's utterly ridiculous.

I was listening to Terry Gross (sp?) on NPR driving home this afternoon and was disgusted, albeit not surprised.

She was talking to some correspondent / etc. woman in Boston and they were so utterly pathetic... just completely docile, and flaccidly accepting that all of this amped-up police state bullshit is necessary!

Along the lines of:
Oh geez... well, this could go on for a while... yeah, wow... that's really inconvenient--and hard on an elderly neighbor--but oh well, ya know, this is how it has to be for us to be safe. Sorta disturbing, though, seeing military vehicles on your street and SWAT teams peering in your windows... oh well, has to be this way to catch the dangerous bad guy.... blahhhh....

What would the Founders do?

I was listening to talk radio

I was listening to talk radio and the host actually said that if we had stayed in Iraq this would not have happened. What? That didn't even make any sense!

Holee SHIT!

That IS crazy! What radio host would even presume to know that for sure? (I guess too many of the lil' fukkerz....)

That viewpoint is SOOOOOO 2003-2006!

What would the Founders do?
